In the October 2008 issue of the US/Canada edition of PC Gamer , editor Dan Stapleton plays a Demigod build where he has access to the 3 other demigods -- the generals. Since I got my "October" issue at mid-August (!), I suppose that Stapleton played that build before August. It's too bad our paid [ [e digicons]^_^[/e] ] build has less content that the older build Stapleton got to play -- for free. Of course ... PC Gamer & Dan Stapleton hav
The 6800 (was) a high-end card, while the 7600 was always a mid-range card at best, and certainly never eclipsed the high-end of the previous generation. And the 8600 was basically nil-improvement over the 7600, save for DX10 compatibility. The 8500... a little worse, and honestly not suited for any sort of decent gaming. These days, you can get an 8800GT for as low as $99, and they have a hell of a kick for their price
Excellent post
[e digicons]^_^[/e] Even my old 6800 (with 512 MB of vram) seems to perform better than that 8500 GT (see my reply #2, above).
The best settings that I found for my 3-to-4½ year-old PC was to run in a manually stretched Window (on a 19-inch widescreen), with no V-sync, low Fidelity, no Shadows, no AA -- but with high Textures & Details. Then, the game looks good, and the framerates are OK. Since I have an old AGP motherboard, I can't change my videocard without changing almost everything else -- to be in the PCI

He would not have the cash for such an upgrade ! By the way, my Intel processor is 4½-year old : a Northwood P4 that is older than a Pentium D. Its 2.8GHz single core handles Demigod very well (having 2 GB of RAM must help). My problem is that my 3-year old, AGP GeForce 6800 requires that I turn off shadows & AA : if I do that, I get very good framerates.
In the case of hardware machines & software-code A.I.s ... I don't think that "retarded" will hurt their "feelings". [e digicons]:cylon:[/e] REPORT : I know that this issue has been reported, but I wish to add a recent example to illustrate it. Sunday morning, I played with 2 Rook allies

I don't state that it is The Cause of your problem ... but the nVidia website does declare that one must remove the current drivers before installing new ones. When you install drivers without having removed the current ones, the new driver files are supposed to o
I did not suggest paying 80 euros for a minimally decent ATI-type videocard, but less than 80 dollars ($) -- which is 56 euros, converted from 80 US dollars. Since I live in Canada, I was thinking in Canadian dollars, which means even less : 52.7 euros . A small, local store near where I live sells those 2 cards, which should run Demigod with good framerates : Ati Radeon Sapphire 2600 Pro 512 Megs Pcie -- 73 CAN dollars = 48 euros Ati Radeon Sa
I have a nVidia videocard (6800), and I'm using the certified (non-beta) drivers of a few months ago (175.19), for XP : no problem (and I never got an update-your-drivers message). Have you tried the 175.19 drivers ? Did you uninstall (using Window's add/remove panel) the older drivers before installing the new ones ? I wonder if using any drivers issued in 2008 can really be the cause of your game not starting : another cause ? </
Bring your PC to a local computer store (call first), and have them change your old ATI card for a more recent ATI card : you now can get a much better one (than yours) for under 80 $. Some stores will change the card on the spot, especially if you can keep the same ATI drivers : just doing the physical operation of removing & inserting videocards is relatively quick & easy to do -- unless it is a sophisticated, monster model which has some special space, cooling and wi
You people are soooo nasty : making fun of retarded A.I. beings -- shame on you. Pray that you never meet the Terminator III demigoddess. [e digicons]:cylon:[/e]
No, Kitkun. He then posted to tell me that he had made a mistake : it was in fact a 3 v 3 (him + 5 comps). His error.
Your frozen-PC experience is extremely frustrating. I know : it happened to me twice, on the day of the beta's release (4 Sept.), but in my case, it was the file-extraction phase (after the Impulse-download phase) which made my C:\ drive crash (= frozen HDD red light on PC tower + loss of mouse & keyboard + necessity to press the reset button). I solved the problem by closing a few WinXP background processes. I really don't know what is the cause of your problem, but
From Reply #10 : " Going out into a lane and starting to fight creeps, it was very hard to tell if I was hitting enemies or not; in fact it was hard to tell what was going on in general. Nothing about the combat felt smooth -- overtime I got more used to it, but it was never altogether clean. " I agree. Battles are often a confusing mess, where precise targeting is difficult.

In my case, Impulse downloaded the 611 MB data fast & fine ... but it was the 2nd phase (file extraction) that hung : it crashed my C:\ drive on 2 occasions (had to reboot). In all my years of gaming, it had NEVER happened that a file-extraction process had caused a hard-drive crash. It worked on my third attempt, because I used the WindowsXP Task Manager to manually close all the background processes I was allowed to. Maybe "something" was competing/interfering on the C:\
