Ok, after some serious reseach it looks like I have to be very selective which skins I use. I've managed to find a few skins that work flawlessly so I guess i'll be happy with that. I've noticed some of the more detailed skins cause problems while the simple ones work with no probs. Guess i'll have to experiment... Thanx for the help everyone

Ok, I switched the video card on my desktop and voila everything looks good...so far... On my laptop however i'm still getting some problems. I'll try to post a shot in a bit. Yes my DPI is 96, but it looks like either the taskbar area is glitched a bit (near the tops) or its the start menu...I guess it depends on the theme i've loaded. I've always know my graphics card on my laptop to be crap but I wouldn't expect that I'd need that much
I haven't had that problem...but I don't use a laptop. I've experienced this on my desktop as well. i had suffered the same problem but i usually can sol
It's been a while since I've been back but I see we've got another version of WB and I was about to install it on my laptop when I remembered why I uninstalled it the last time....the glitches... For some reason the taskbar (along with other parts of the OS) would not be skinned and just show white. If I move my mouse over the area, it would reskin but after a while it would go back to white. I lived with it for a bit, but after a while it just
Thank you Mr.Wizop...
I would but i've had problems with Iconpackager and quite frankly windowblinds doesn't play well with my .NET IDE. Because of that I don't feel like paying for something I won't use. DesktopX however is well worth the cash.
Normally, I wouldn't ask this but if I purchased DX2 do I get the dx2.2 for free? I ask this because the support page that I normally submit my email address is gone and I find out that DX is now FR33?? (yes i've been living in a cave...) What's going on?
Just had a thought, does this do the same thing with a bg made with "magic pink"? In theory this should work as the bg is not transparent so there is 100% opacity. Can anybody confirm this? (I would try this myself but i'm away from my machine with DX installed) [Message Edited]
So in other words, it's not possible to create a systray bg that's invisible? meh, back to the drawing board. I need to stop using DX, I keep running into limits...
DesktopX2. Give it a try create a blank png then use it as the background for a system tray object.
I'm trying to create a transparent system tray but does anyone know if this is possible? It would seem that whatever color is found is being used as the bg, and if you have a transparent png nothing shows...not even the icons! Is there a way around this?
snowman: Yeah, I know, but that's not really what I was talking about. I'm really talking about those unfinished, "I got sick of working on it" ,not-good-for-anybody-but-me themes.
Koa-sati! I was using HVD just a few months ago before DX2.1 came out! You MUST post those themes some where...although I have no idea where(deviant art maybe..) as the hoverdesk team seems to have been swallowed by a black hole, never to be heard from again. The site is still working but sadly no updates. I have a couple of themes that I haven't posted for the same reason(personal setup being usele
wow jafo, about a hundred huh? does anybody that responded care to tell us why they decided not to submit them?
Just curious... How many themes/skins have you created and not submitted and why not? Personally, I've made at least 10 that will probably NEVER be posted due to moderation issues and such.(mostly video game themes and such)
And one version later and the problem still persists... Am I the only one that actually uses this function? Is it only supposed to work when you have a window maximized because that's the only time it works. > See ya again at DX2.2...
Ok, that does make sense. But that doesn't affect problem 1. This morning when I restarted dx my theme was shifted to the left so that only a small part of it was visibile. Yet when I actually used the .dxtheme file all was right again. Methinks this is a bug more than anything but I could be wrong.
I have a theme that i'm testing but it doesn't seem to be working very well. So far there are three problems. 1. When I start DX several objects won't load up. I have to find the .dxtheme file and run it for everything to appear again. 2. I'm not sure it's my meters or not but whenever I set they're z-order to 'always on top' things REALLY slow down. 3. My screen size is 1600x1200 and I have an object that is about 300x1200 with it's z-order set to 'Always on top' Is t
Wow thanx for the info. oh well, I guess that just saved the admins the trouble of rejecting my themes. Thanx grayhaze, i'll go back to my hole now...
Ok, I know this isn't a copyright thread or anything but I just want sneak this one question in: What if the company is providing the artwork? Some official game sites actually provide graphics/pics and such to be used by fans for fansites or what not, generally, just as long as it's nothing portraying said game/company in a bad light, I remember Microsoft did something this with a couple of games (AOE,AOM,etc) but I might be wrong...however, I KNOW there are companies that do this. If I su
If this subscription drive doesn't work we should follow Leo's plan...sorta. I'd say only allow 3 specific skins for download each year. Why? 1. This will cut unsubscribed downloads dramatically 2. No more reregistering to get more MBs to download 'cause your only going to be able to get the same three skins I don't come here very often and I download skins even less(I make my own) and even though whenever I ask for help on the forums I normally don't get any I still su
I've noticed this as well with themes that i've made from scratch. Most of my themes aren't complicated (read:no scripts) yet this problem never seems to go away... Guess we'll have to wait for DX2.1
thanx for the help. Now If I can only figure out how to do those nifty 'run' boxes everybody likes doing. I'm working on a sweet gamecube theme but I don't think it'll pass moderation as I haven't seen ANY game system related themes around... anyway, I think the software is GREAT! As a programmer myself I know how much of a PAIN it is to write documentation but alas it's necessary, otherwise you get tons of people saying something doesn't work/is broken because they don't know how to us
Ok, so I finally figured out how to get the player functions connected to a button but does anyone know where I can find some info on making stuff for volume, song name and such. Do the peeps at stardock HATE documentation?? [Message Edited]
