(Here comes the ban. But I guess since support for Demigod is over, I don't have much reason to participate here anymore anyway)
Anyone who closes a post with a line such as this clearly demonstrates his desire to inflame the community. Don't hope for a ban, just leave.
I reckon that the second the game becomes "stable enough" [who decides on enough?] then most support for it will be cut completely. I have zero expectations from either SD or GPG regarding the stability of this game. We are contractually committed to at least a year of updates. As to threading the server calls, that's up to GPG. We did some major work on the backend today to alleviate the periodic load issues though (the changes
Hm, this post wasn't there when I started writing my post about the same issue. So yeah, good to know that others are aware of it.
For certain achievements, progress tracking is not working properly. In particular, the "Veteran" (win 25 games) and "Tourist" (win a game on every map) achievements get stuck after earning 1 point (1 win per Demigod).
Yeah, it has been pretty bad lately... [e digicons]:hugme:[/e]
You people are everywhere. I remember XoO from Guild Wars several years ago. You guys were always a free win. Good times!
Teams that capture and hold flags should be rewarded. Map dominance results in higher war score, which in turn enables teams to purchase game-changing Citadel upgrades. I see no reason to change this.
Why would you not want to play with your friends? [e digicons]:maybe:[/e]
Yes, hangs alot because of this. Won't be so easy to change I guess.
Yes. Sadly, the above issue compounds other issues. In other words, synchronous loading can turn network stress into client hanging (slow servers can freeze the game, increasing player frustration).
Pathing with Rook is the worst. He will frequently get caught on corners and buildings.
Oh and the biggest difference between real sports and e-sports is that you don't need drugs (yet) to be at the top of e-sports...
Er, are you sure about that? Caffeine is REQUIRED, and there have been reports of players abusing prescription drugs (namely Adderall) to gain an edge.
Why does the game wait for network traffic before executing code? In other words, the game uses synchronous loading, wherein the game will freeze whenever it is waiting for a response from the network (Demigod servers, mainly). This is a terrible idea since the network code is so unreliable. Examples of problems caused by this behavior: Demigod freezes while attempting to log in if servers are experiencing heavy load Custom lobbies often freeze (temporary)&nbs
I would love to see a "defense" type game mode, with all the human players on the same team against a much better equipped AI, maybe with special troops and towers. I'd like more variety in towers and flags as well. I think a one-way teleport flag would be cool and could increase game speed and intensity; in the middle it becomes a hotly contested means of instant retreat, giving one to each base means players can quickly jump to
Allow the Steam overlay to function in-game. It's rather frustrating to not be able to use Steam to coordinate games, especially since the Impulse overlay falls so short in this regard.
Use Xfire (the Xfire overlay is better anyway).
Why are the terrible items, such as the Plate Visor, totally ignored in your list? You claim that the Vlemish Faceguard needs a nerf, but don't even mention all of the garbage items in this game. Before everyone cries nerf, can we at least make the game more accessible to new players by either removing the terrible items or improving them? Right now, there are too many bad items and it is confusing and somewhat of a money pit.
Items (and some skills) need a major overhaul. Remove or enhance bad items (over 50% of the items in Demigod are terrible and should be ignored) Change the % mana regen mechanic (as of now, nearly all items with % mana regen are nearly worthless) Cap statistics and effects (health, regen, speed, etc.) in order to limit "stacking" of certain attributes or debuffs (diminishing returns for snares and stuns as well) Redesign terrible skills l
I dunno, as we discussed earlier, I kinda like it. I think I would prefer a favor system where items only force you to have a minimum amount of favor versus paying for them. Would make people less afraid to experiment with new items rather than the same ones over and over again.
Agreed, as that would be a much better system. However, this is a bug as it's not working as intended.
It seems like a typical failure pattern. You knock one out of the park (Sins) and you say "this is easy," let's make another blockbuster. So, for the same paltry budget you make another game but you don't need to try as hard and you keep to the same failed principles (P2P multi-player?!?!?, wtf is it 1992 still?)
Stardock published Sins and Demigod, but did not develop them. Additionally, these games were devel
As many of you know, online Favor is not working properly. Specifically, items purchased with Favor are not saved, and Favor is returned at the end of a match. Problematic behavior example: Player starts match with 750 Favor. Player purchases Blood of the Fallen. Player earns 100 Favor during match. Player joins next match with 850 Favor instead of 750-750+100 = 100 Favor. Is there any ETA on a fix?
Terrible idea because the AI will then become a suicide machine. This is a player vs. player game, and bots should not provide any advantage. If someone drops, tough luck, you should lose. Bots should not be altered to allow teams with fewer human players to win.
Will there be a favor reset or not? I have been told that a stats reset would take place, for as for favor, I am uncertain. I would prefer that favor remain as-is, since the more time players are allowed to acquire favor items, the more balanced the playing field becomes between the hardcore and the casual.
