As for HoN having zillions of players, my understanding is that it's in beta and is free. And frankly speaking, both HoN and LoL have much better multiplayer match making features than Demigod does. I prefer Demigod as a game, but it really needs better online features to be competitive in that area imo.
This is one of the main things that is hurting demigod right now. The others being lag, connection issues and cr

When I host a game, I always set the flag capture rate to fast. I get 1 in 10 complain about it, but I think it makes the game better. If I start capturing a flag, it can't be telported to fast enough. The only way the opponent can teleport to it is by starting the teleport before I get there. I agree that there is a problem with the animation. I don't agree with most of the replies that say just zoom in more. Sure that is a temporary solution, but it is still a bug and should be fixe
As a note, the competition League of Legends has this ability built into the game. It would definately change how the game is played since people will not only counter character builds, but would also be able to counter item builds. I agree that if one person has the mod and the other players don't it is pretty much cheating. But one could also say anyone can install UI mods.
Thanks, I sent him a PM. Hopefully the replay file formats are similar enough.
So, GPG/Stardock, can we get this info? It would make replays so much better if we can get third party tools to analyse the games.
yes, but this patch brought out the human stupidity.
So am trying to get a game going. I started a 4v4 with one of my friends (currently it lists us as playing together 50% of the time which is not true, but I guess it is new data). We get a full group together and then the other team starts wanting me to kick someone because he is a noob and when I don't they leave. It has been 30 minutes and I have yet to get a game going. This patch is not fixing the game, it is plugging holes in bad game design and exposing more bad game design.
Is this really an issue like people make it. When I play pug or premade, if I get stomped, I remember who stomped me and either I avoid the games they are in, or challenge myself to beat them. I play mostly with friends and if you look at my average, I am not winning 90% of my games (I am closer to 50%). What I fear is that when this feature goes live, many people will join my game, see that I played with my friends a lot and will leave, without even considering that our win percentag
I am looking into a way to parse the demigod replay file to remove most of the movement data and create a game summary. The idea is you can see in chronological order what skills people get, what items they buy, what citadel upgrades where bought and when someone is killed and by whom. The goal is to quickly see what each person buys and when, and how well they did with those purchases. I looked at the replay file and unfortunately and expected, it is a binary file format. The first 2
I understand your point - however I don't feel it's valid. Your basically saying you're now unable to play against Random players when you're a premade - the point of the system is exactly that. My question is this: If the system being introduced prevents other pre-made teams from playing random players and thus makes them play against other pre-made teams - read: you and your friends - rather than stomping random players, would this not increa
Sorry, I'm still not seeing how you're coming to "50%" of players are going to leave because we have will soon have a mechanic to identify organised teams out of a crowd of random players to ensure that Random Players aren't penalised for not playing exclusively in Teams. If organised teams were serious about being organised, this wouldn't be an issue at all because they would welcome any mechanic that ensures more organised teams are playing as a t
Sorry, I mustn't have received your survey about the communities feelings on premades in my Private Message Inbox which you've obviously used generate this figure. Could you please send it again?
Note that I said, "I believe" which means I am giving my opinion, which I am entitled to give. If your opinion is different, that is fine, and you are too entitled to it. If you want to see actual numbers, go to <a href="http://www.demigodth
I agree that alienating premades = bad idea, but we'll see. I don't think this will be the nail on Dgs coffin. She's got some life left in her yet.
Well if you call twitching life ;)
I said this in frogboy's post and I will say it here too. There are not enough people playing demigod, so alienating a whole group of people that probably adds up to over 50% of the player base is not good for the game. This feature will probably be the final nail on the Demigod coffin, and it saddens me.
If the Demigod community was strong, with thousands of games starting every hours and tens of thousands of players online at any time, I would agree that this feature would be useful. In the end, I fear it will completely kill the game. I expect after this patch, premades won't be able to play a game together anymore and they will leave which I believe will be 50% of those that remain. I think Stardock and GPG should be spending the time to get people to come back to the game by doing
I had a situation the other day that got me pissed off at a teamate that was using HW. The map was cateract and I was on the right with a beast and the TB was on the left by himself. He kept using HW to kill the creeps on our side. I was telling him to stop since he was stealing XP, but he argued that we got XP when he did that (which is true). But what he didn't realize is the XP is split amongst the three of us, not two but our enemies were splitting their kills 2 ways so they were lev
Its funny how people consider balance as the test of which demigod will win 1v1. Personally I feel this game is very unbalanced 1v1, somewhat unbalanced 2v2 and almost balanced 3v3. The real balance doesn't happen until you get into 4v4 games or more. Some demigods are better at helping the fight, then actually fighting. Like Golgoth said, QoT vs a beast would be very one sided, but a QoT and a Oak vs a Beast and a TB and it isn't as clear.
I noticed that your running a debug DLL file for directx, maybe reinstalling directx might help (www.microsoft.com/directx). In order to upgrade your computer, I recommend you bring your computer to a computer shop (best buy, frys, or whatever you have near your area) and tell them you need a new video card and maybe some more ram. They will charge you for installation and maybe the hardware will be a bit more expensive then going online, but they will be able to tell y
Also, demigod did have an open beta. The only catch was you had to pre-order the game to get in. In hind sight, that was what they did wrong. You can only draw in so many people in to such a beta test when the player has to commit the purchase first. The lack of volume of players meant that many of the connectivity issues remained hidden till post release.
While your point is entirely valid, I also think that many games
Been playing LOL and HON quite a bit lately and I have to admit that the game play is better than DG IMO. Demigod is fun and has been fun from release when it actually worked. However the biggest mistake they made was not haivng an open beta to flesh out all the major connection issues. They really screwed the pooch on release and it doomed their product. Even with a sucessful expansion, DG is irreparably damaged.
IMO, I totally disag
I know a lot of people don't like the favour point reset, and I know a few people that said they will stop playing Demigod if they reset the favour points again. If people are so passionate about this, then I say get rid of favour points and let anyone get any favour item's they choose. Eventually everyone will get enough to get everything, so what is the point of favour points in the long run? If they do regular reset of the favour points, then it makes a bit of sense as people will have to
When against a 1 vs 1 regulus, just health stack, both regen and total health. A good regulus would be able to hit you for at most 4000 damage after level 10 (6 mines at 450 each, and a snipe for 1k if he is far enough away). If you have 7k with good regen, he won't stand a chance. Even if he is sniping every 8 seconds, you will regen it almost as fast as he deals it. Keep some health potions with you and keep grabbing the flags. If he wants to get involved in a fight, regulus generally
Here is my question, Can we have a game mode added that is 2v2v2 or 3v3v3, with new maps made for more then 2 teams? I know it is unlikely but I wonder how the game would play with flags being fought over by 3 teams and such.
Create a game with a password and add bots. That is pretty much what the single player verison would be like.
