I was in the beta. Many of the issues, that could be interpreted as not being so critical, were there and reported. I assumed that they would be fixed in a Day 0 patch. Instead the game sucked in a huge way regarding multiplayer before launch . Technically, those of us who pre-ordered and played beta got the game on Monday when the general release was Tuesday. But that was much complicated due to some retail outlets selling the game day(s) early... like
This issue is being worked on for a new build update to the game. Please be patient.
I love that we're being told to be patient. That there is an update. That, sure the game doesn't work right, but don't be b*tching on the board, 'cause that doesn't help anything. IT HELPS ME FEEL BETTER! I PAID MONEY FOR THIS GAME. IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO "KINDA,
So, Pantheon works sometimes, Custom Game works sometimes, there is no single player campaign mode with a story, there is no tutorial. But this is a multiplayer game! Except for the part where Pantheon and Custom Games don't work much. At all. I'm a fan of this game, and I want it to succeed, but this is a terrible launch.
Wow. We've gone a long way into accepting broken games. The consensus on these boards when responding to someone who is frustrated because the game they paid for doesn't work the way the vendor TELLS THEM IT WILL ON THE FRIGGIN BOX is "shut up and stop whining". During a beta, it is fine to tell someone that, but not after they paid for the product. I've been patient, too, and actually purchas
I'm sure Windows 7 isn't supported since it hasn't even been released from beta yet.
Wondering when the Favor Points bug might be fixed. Also, under what circumstances does one lose Favor Points? Only for disconnecting from a game in-progress? TIA
I had exactly the same problem. Give support the Impulse account(s) and the login for Demigod (if appropriate), and they'll fix you right up. Took about 24 hours and that was immediately after release, so those folks are working hard to get these things fixed. Kudos to Stardock for such good support. [e digicons]k1[/e]
Ok, just FYI - it can be done. Need configure port ranges on your router (different ranges for each client, obviously), and use the CVP utility in the BIN folder where Demigod is installed. My son and I have played a few Custom Games together! :)
If I click CANCEL, do I loose Favor Points?
Quoting Spooky, reply 8 Quoting chaos40, reply 7 I agree. This bug has been hanging around for a long time.... sigh. Please define a long time. The game was released a few days ago . As wonderful and witty as that was, there was a beta where the same thing happened and had been reported. Anyway, I would love to see this fixed too. BUMPINATED? Indeed it has been.
&nb
How long should I wait before I can click CANCEL? I don't want to give up too soon...
I agree. This bug has been hanging around for a long time.... sigh.
No, this Impulse regestration has been THE WORST I have ever ever ever seen. I have had a headache fighting this horrable brain dead idea of a security system. Its a good paying customer killer. I have wanted to hunt down and murder every f*cking developer of this game. Now, dont get me wrong the games good but the account system and loggin is HORRID. Email merging? Why not multiple email accounts where bo
IMHO - they aren't morons. They just want to buy a game and have it work. It is tricky when you build a game on top of a p2p protocol like bittorrent. Some routers don't support UPnP, some don't support it well and some won't work quite right if you mistakenly try to configure port forwarding ranges and leave UPnP turned on, too. I do this for a living, and have for about 20 years now, so I "get it", but I can certainly see how the average 13 year old who walks into
I'm frustrated too. But... It is... too darn..... FUN!!!
I hate to be negative, but gamers shouldn't have to figure out how to configure their routers to play a game. There are many good guides (@the_Monk!), but due to the variety of routers, the fact that some routers are actually behind ISP-provided routers, the difference in the way you can choose to implement (or not) UPnP -or- port forwarding... I mean really, it is no wonder some folks are frustrated. But tips like these can be very helpful, and I'm not sure why they're
I do hope the Pantheon negative favor points bug gets worked out. Pantheon is one of the places where accurate favor points are most critical.
I disagree on one point. All Father's Ring is a game ender. Sure, its 25K in gold, so you won't get it unless its a large, long-duration game, but the first Demigod to get that in the match pretty much has the game won.
Yep - history is nice, with some good tips from these forums (especially Tech Support), but nothing about any of the patches at all, least of all this latest ~26MB patch. Most curious... [e digicons]8|[/e]
@the_Monk Read your guide. EXCELLENT! Question for anyone: UPnP better than manually opening and pointing ports? I have two Demigod clients behind my Buffalo Airstation router (which is running Tomato firmware v1.23). I have used the tweaking tool in the BIN directory of Demigod to specify different port ranges for each machine, and forwarded the appropriate ranges for UDP packets to each respective PC. Last night we were each able to connect to
I played about 100 multiplayer matches (maybe more?) during the beta and very rarely saw the kinds of things I'm seeing now. I actually have a timer set up on my desk and regularly wait 3+ minutes for a result. The result is usually an error now, but while in beta I'd say 95% of the time things went as expected.
Hey, listen, I was in the beta and I purchased a second copy for my son and we've had nothing but trouble. He still can't play after hours and opened tickets with Stardock and posts to this forum. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD TO PLAY THE GAME.... period. Really, it shouldn't.
Wow - this is a mess. I was an evangelist for this game, but it has been a nightmare for the last two days. I am, frankly, a little embarrassed.
What the heck does that mean? I can't join a pantheon game. sigh.... [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
Ugh, I purchased a second copy, and through all the confusion (yes, I'm not too bright but I do hold a degree and have been gainfully employed in IT for nearly 20 years). Now I own two copies under the same Impulse account. I can't transfer the second, I can't un-register it, etc. I did not try to do it this way. During the purchasing prcoess, I did use a second email account! But I guess I did it wrong. Frankly, in hindsight, I may have made a mistake.
