To Frogboy, Cari and all you good guys at Stardock and GPG : Once upon a time, quite a few years ago, I used to play a small fun game called Moonbase Commander. It never acquired a large community - actually, it won "best game nobody plays" 2 years in a row. We were some 10 hardcore fans, down to about 5 the 2nd year. Huge fun for many many hours. Anyway, why am I telling this here : We played completely p2p. After suffering frustrations with GameSpy Arcade the

I would really like to be able to play it.
Amazing beautiful looks and presentation, a lot of fun action. Much less room for strategy than in SupCom. The game is more about timing of clicks and team cooperation. One aspect that demonstrates the above is the complete absence of need for scouting. So, Loui, I'm guessing you won't dominate this game ;)
Lovely girl, and happy half-birthday : ) Stardock guys, is it true you are developing something that has never been done before, in terms of networking a multiplayer game ?
Most beautiful game I've seen. Very good action, fun to play. I am quite particular about the games I play and only buy 1-2 games a year. I expect a several months of good online play with Demigod. This is less than I played with SupCom and Forged Alliance and WC3 before that, but still very good. To call the game "great", I require more strategic depth and better maps - more reactive, more open, more three dimensional. All this assuming minimum fixes of networ
Guys, It's ~4 days to Gold status deadline. Printing the game the way it looks to us Beta testers right now is just too much of a gamble. What if you can't make adequate netcode in time for day 0 patch ? That would be a big party crasher. I'm sure there are many players who, like me, don't care much for campaign and jump right to online play. Not many things are more frustrating than net problems with an exciting game. Balance is also a big problem. You need at least a couple
Thx man : ) Can't do it on bigger maps though - Reinforcements become too much and can't control the gate flags. Also can't do it with all Nightmare. Will try with some hard/nightmare mix.
Hi, Israel here. Router : ASUS AM604g ( modem+router ) DSL ISP : Smile 015 2.5 MB Download / 192K upload Success Rate : Never, except that day when there were 2 updates. I managed to play 2 games. Was slow to connect ( 2-3 minutes for a player to connect ) and play halted for a sec or two occasionally ( was 1v1 and 2v2 + AI's ), but no fails. It was before I installed the 2nd update of the day, I think also before I installed the 1st but not sure. Never co
Reg ( me ) + QoT vs 2 Sedna 2 Erebus 1 Oak all Hard AI on Cataract. Been trying to do it for a long time. Note to Devs : Get netcode fixed and I'll stop bothering you with such posts. Also, ATI driver ( 4850 ) crashed today during a game.
Oh completely missed that tab, thx : ) Yup, I can see how it leaves a player no option except to die.
What's Staff Of Renewal ? I don't see it in any shop or the favor item list.
And you are right : ) Maybe the fix I suggested is too much. maybe make the leech only half of the damage. I am quite convinced it has to be much stronger than Fireball though. I think SupCom and even more FA are better RTS games than WC3, in several important aspects. StarCraft2 ( to set apart from SupCom2 ) does have to impress me with something.
I hope they did, and hope even more you are well : )
Same thing on Beta 3E ( .036 , March 23 ). Still empty Player Name list, can't join a game, others can't join mine. Pantheon doesn't work too, but I havn't tried pantheon since before .025 so I don't know if this change is recent. Once on pantheon try I got to a name list with 4 yellow names, but no further. I am completely DMZ'ed and all other net functions work fine including GPGnet.
I've been playing AI's a bit ( since I can't play humans except for that one day between updates, hint hint ). Normal AI seem rather stupid. When low on HP they will often just walk away a bit and stand with their back to you, or walk back and forth inside your range and just be killed off easily. Hard and Nightmare are actually hard to beat. They will escape in time, take haven behind their towers rather than in front of them, give good chase when you are in red, try to inter
It seems intelligent people misunderstood, therefor the blame is on me. SC2 served in my posts in this thread merely as a box of chocolates : something to bet on. The bet is still offered. WC3 served as an example of balance between ranged and melee heros.
Ay, There's the rub : if we had good connectivity, we could test all this like beta testers are supposed to. But I'll make u a bet : see, I'm gonna buy Starcraft 2 when it gets out ( unless it turns out bust, which isn't likely ). If 1 month into the game on current stats the 3 Weaks together are over 10 of the top 100 ranked players, I'll buy SC2 for u ( or any other game around 50$ ), If not, u will buy SC2 for me. Done ? Lets get some constructive focus [e digicons]:fuzzy:[/e] . Planned release date is 23 days ahead, and lights are probably on for long hours at Stardock. I still think it should be postponed about a month, but assuming it will not be, we should concentrate on fixes that require only changing numbers, not elaborate coding or graphics. Problem definition : Sedna, Oak and Erebus will very rarely be used. I know a few disagree, but most agree, the reasons are obvious and I have hea
I got to play 2 games yesterday. Both were before I updated the 1st , but maybe after my partners to the game updated, don't know. Just opened a custom game to play some AI's and surprised to find someone join my game. Then I updated and couldn't play. Then updated again ( v . 34 , the latest ) and still can't play. However, the NAT process screen goes fuerther than it used to before the 2 updates. The Player Name screen gets populated most tries ( whereas it used to stay blank most o
innociv I know u said it, I just try to understand the tactics. Like, I can win in AI game 2 vs 5, Reg and QoT vs 3 Sedna 2 Oak, no problem. With 5 ( non-QoT ) generals vs 5 assassins, I find it very hard. And also, somewhat boring. There just isn't a lot to do with Sedna, Oak and Erebus. They hardly want to get into melee against Rook or UB. So, what am I doing so wrong ? Also, it seems PossiblyImpossible disagrees with you, though you nodded his quote.
Thanks Possibly, good explanation and matches my ( rather inexperienced ) thoughts. And - WOOT !! finally games online !
Like Innociv said, though, all of the Generals are pretty good / balanced if you play them as Assassins, though a few of them could use a little bit of boosting. They just seems weak / unfun when you compare them to the grossly OP Assassins (reg / ice tb / rook). If you try to play Generals the way the name would suggest, as the leader of an army of minions, then you start to see why people think they are weak.
To Innociv, PossiblyImpossible and others who think alik
Okay, that answers it, thx : )
I don't know how the game chooses which player to award all kills to, but I don't recall it ever being me ( I only play with AI's ). Also not necessarily the player who got the last shot at the citadel.
Okay, maybe I am weird. Come to think of it, I did hear it mentioned before once or twice : ) Most minions are demigod fodder and that's ok. What I suggested is to give generals abilities that make them significant. In that case they would be actually put to use, not stuffed away. That would be a general's strength, and activity, thus solving both problems ( the first of which I believe you agree with, the second - not ).
