I can't tell you how frustrating it is to work on a bug for an extended period of time, to have someone look over your shoulder and point out where the problem is. Having a fresh pair of eyes is invaluable.

This was one of my least favorite parts of All Stars and one of the main reasons I only ever played DotA 3.7. It just makes the game less accessible and diverts your attention from what is fun about the game, the combat and interaction with other people.
Or they could just make the generals less powerful as assassins and more powerful as generals. Just a thought.

It's a cool idea and one that has been thought of by many people for many different games. The problem with it, is that it doesn't support the core mechanic of Demigod, which is controlling your demigod. Instead it turns it into a rather trivial game of RTS chicken. There really isn't too much depth of strategy with this, and it just distracts from the rest of the game. Cool idea for a game... that's not Demigod.
I really like Exile. I think the layout is pretty decent. My friends and I usually play fortresses anyways so we don't have all the flags. And no, the Heart of Life trinket is not the same as a one-sided free healing bonus.

Also, not all game types have those extra crystals.
I've found something on Exile that seems like an exploit, but I can't find anyone else talking about it. If you stand on the path opposite your healing crystal that is inside your base, you can get close enough to receive its healing and mana regen. This makes defending one's right-side path trivial. Fight, lose some health or mana, run a few feet back, heal up to full, and run out to fight again. This is of course less of an issue when playing Conquest as you have the other crystals
