As many may know, I'm a fervent pure aggro Rook player. I find this thread very interesting and I'll give this build a try. A few comments: - with Staff of Renewal, I guess taking Towers 4 is really interessant for the 50% mana reduction. With BotF, it's arguable. - I cannot understand the choice of not taking Boulder Roll 3 (especially over Stats). Seconds of stun are so precious, and not only for Hammer, but also for helping mates to flee and gank. +0,5 sec

It's hard to admit being inferior. "Pro" & "average" players don't differ on that point. Except if the guy/girl has enough brain and humility to admit he made lots of mistakes, he/she will usually find reasons to feel better after a defeat. Let's say, among others: premade opposing team, lags, "my team mates suck", etc.
I've tried buying XP a few times and I never feel any significant difference. I see your point, Epi, but : - " That means that a 20% boost of experience is a little less than one level's worth, from the start of the game , by the time you get to level 10. " From the start of the game! Which is never the case; XP1 is at best bought at level 2 or 3, and XP2, around level 5. So you will never realisticly be a little less than one's
This would make sense, I find first level of Penitence to be pretty useless for very early game, except sometimes for interrupt. And Shield cost even less mana ^^ Any other advices on build? Do you put priority on DJ or Shield? What kind of items or favor? I would be glad to have advices from someone very used to Oak [e digicons][/e]
lol, well.. i was trying to put it in a nicer way other than that
I know RAWR [e digicons]^_^[/e] but it's a fact we should really insist on. So sad to play with generals without priests; especially when they told you " I know what I'm doing, I prefer no priest "
Altought I have played a lot this game, I'm a brand new Oak player. I'm trying a build since a few days. I didn't want to play with spirits, so I choose a build which is very similar to the one you play. I really like Divine Justice, which allow you to stay much longer on lane. My build until lvl 13 was exactly the same. I prefered maximizing DJ more than Shield because of "staying in lane" advantage, and the fact that DJ was alway
personally I think oak should start with monks first
Every general should always buy monk level 1 at beginning. And Foul Grasp 2 is a bad choice, indeed.
More & more topics become ironical these days... [e digicons]B)[/e]
Step 1: Pick rook Step 2: ???? Step 3: Buy 40,000 gold worth of items Step 4: Profit
[e digicons]k1[/e] I don't know what is your point, godkingseth, but this guide looks ... very weird....
I would say about 5-10% of my games reach level 18+. I do hit level 20 from time to time. What this abilities does is protect UB from extremely late game shifts. Many DGs plateau in strength after level 15, but then there's a few like Oak who actually get completely out of hand if they reach extremely high levels. BW adds UB to that short list of DGs that cannot be allowed to hit level 20. Btw. if you start taking BW at 16 it's 10 out of every 20 seconds once you hit 20, a
Though I'd personally twiddle level 5 and 6
[e digicons]k1[/e] Before, I was thinking that if I don't have a helmet yet, I shouldn't always take Boulder Roll level 5. Yeah, sometimes, it'll be totally unused until a helmet, sometimes, you won't have mana for it at this level. But if you really need it one moment, and you could have afford it (mana speaking) but you just can't because you took anything else level 5, that's really horrible. I
Beastial Wrath doesn't suck, it's just inferior to other abilities early game. If you get drawn into a long match though it's incredibly powerful with artifacts. No one can go 1v1 against UB when he's doing 165% weapon damage with ooze, spit, and putrid flows active.
That's what I'm saying. I prefer Spit, Ooze, IB, DC. So who cares about an ability you begin to think taking at levels 16/18. OK, no one can stand 1v1 with BW. So, people are running away 7
Hammer Rook
I wonder how much time people will continue to think hammer Rook is "funny". Altought it's funny to play, it's really a strong build. And better than pure tower imo. Too few good hammer players in this game?!
From my experience, during pro matches or high level matches, stacking HP is always better than stacking speed. Early game, you will stay longer on lane, keeping flag and farming same or more. Late game you'll be more efficient to chase or flee; but you will be inferior in every confrontation (except if opponent is hurted or 2v1). With players of exactly same levels and skills, HP will always beat speed imo. But I'm sure it can be viable (and very enjoyable) in matches
Bestial Wrath sucks. It costs a lot of mana, and has a very significative activation, which means, every clever player will just run away 7 seconds.
I had two very interressant games as pure slam Rook yesterday. Strong opponents faced my team: First game : obscenitor, kingslet, viras09 http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1008027/player/53198/ Second game : obscenitor, kingslet, Chowdown <a href="http://pantheon.demigodthegame.co
One thing that seemed a little concerning was how many skill saves you had. 2 at level 3, 2 at level 9, 4 at level 15. In a tight game where XP is tough to come by waiting that long to get a new skill could be awful.
Saving skill points is very very useful for some builds. The benefits you "lose" by waiting will be devastating during mid-game. Having your two best abilities maxed at level 10 has, sometimes, no price.
This is a wonderful item imo. Really worth the 3300 gold. With UB, I'll try to have it everytime (after Narmoth's Ring, which is even better). With my Ice TB, I'll always buy it. I guess it works very well with Reg but I miss experience with him. And the critical damages are not anecodctical. It surprises me (and my opponents) many many times. In a word, I think this item rocks for every good AA DG.
Never had problem with any Reg as an hybrid UB, but maybe I didn't face a player who master it.
Fire TB was my first DG I really enjoyed when I discovered the game. Altought I find Fire TB less effective than Ice TB or Hybrid TB, I suppose he can be viable also. Of course, during mid or end game, it's very difficult for any TB to be very efficient against any good players playing better DG like... Erebus or UB for example. Imho, Fire Aura is far much better than Stats.
so you're saying if a guy kills creeps all game and gets some kills because he's a few lvls higher than anyone else it shows his team is useless?
Killing creeps and having a few kills won't give a player who lose a best score than the winners. A player with a better score than winning team often shows his/her superiority, and if his own team lose, guess why? And don't forget that killing creeps, while still doing useful stuff for te
When you Wrath some creeps in a place you aren't, but an ally DG is near the creeps, the both of you get 50% of the xp, am I wrong? So... you "steal" 50% of the xp of your mate would have had by killing them alone.
It's a good consolation when you lose a game to have more favor than the winners. It just shows your partners sucked [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
In my UB build, Putrid Flow is choosen at level 15 same time than Acclimation. Because I don't really trust Stats when something else is valuable, and I consider Putrid Flow is more valuable.
29th of September, 2009 → Aggro Rook guide update. Several major changes and I have given up the "optional" choices.
