Other thing Possibility of a wallpaper with one of those young, yet professional, anonymous models (you know, the ones that usually end up in middle pages of magazines like maxim). Age 18 in a bikini or summat. Age cannot be verified, must that wall paper be banned? must all models in any wallpapers have age verification?

I can see the problem with the age thing but then you have to consider this: Are there a bunch of rules that can be applied that will make sure anyone using anime drawings won't be whupped (certain boob size? wrinkly face? I mean come on) The linked image does not look particularly young...or old..that is the problem with anime you cannot easily see ages (unless it has been drawn to be obvious) [Message Edited]
Suggestion. Supply modules for starbases. Extends range of ships as if it were a planet (not as far though). Extra modules provide extra range. Allows Starbases to act as hubs for long range invasion fleets. ~SDC~
hehehe. "apart from that how was the show"...That from Hudson Hawk isn't it :p ~SDC~
ok, who wants to head up the "Whipper Snappers" and "Old Farts" empire? Direct opposition....come on.. I DARE YA :P ~SDC~
Google on c.s.i.p.g.s = comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic If that is the c.s.i.p.g.s you are talknig about then I am afraid I have never been on there. Hehe sorry Axxon, I must be another Jeff Jones...like you said it is an extremely common name ;) And yea my basic premise is that the vet is open minded enough to cater for all...but that is assuming maybe a bit too much of human nature :) ~SDC~
Good point, missed the significance of that when I was reading it. ~SDC~
AAAaaaaaah, Gimme a PM option on the forum. Ok since you asked I'll try and justify the opinion. (Disclaimer) I consider myself someone reasonably interested in 4X games. not a lunatic (in a good way! :) )fan of the genre. I liked Civ and SMAC but never really tried the less known ones like Star EmpiresIV. I have used some obvious examples in this. Ok. for sake of arguement let us say that a developer has created an 2D RPG (summat like Baldur's Gate) game. (I'll us
Bad grammer and typos there. Ash well >>Reviewing something and stating the obvious in a juvenille manner isn't (IMHO of course) not very professional should be >>Reviewing something and stating the obvious in a juvenille manner isn't (IMHO of course) very professional ~SDC~
>>Lol, you mean to tell me that games should only be reviewed by people who the Developers are targeting for the sales? In my opinion? not ONLY but mainly. I wont argue the point since it won't help. I was not snubbing his review, however when someone decides that combat is LAME blah LAME blah LAME blah LAME blah LAME beause it isn't in the game when from the outset it was never meant to be in the game seems a bit juvenille. (e.g. I am buying the game, I know that tactical com
I get the impresion they are treating galciv as a replacement to MoO3 so anything that MoO3 can do but galciv can't is an automatic failure...even though brad has repeatedly stated that Galciv and MoO3 are very different games. Plus when you see a statement including LAME in it 5 times you have to wonder about the objectivity of the reviewer. Stop treating it as a MoO3 replacement, treat it as a new Civ Game (which was mentioned in the review). If you think the combat is LAME because it isn'

hehehe....geek hutches....heheheh Or have it as a game setting that you toggle on/off when you first startup. If it is on EVERYONE can use it. If off NO ONE can use it. That way if you don't want the micro-management aspect of it you are not at a disadvantage to the ai.
PDF Manual will also be downloadable for those of us who don't get the CD send to them?
heh, it has already happened....illegally anyway. The warez scene is booming because of the heeee-uge access to phat pipes on the "consumer" and "distributor" end. All that needs to happen now is for the legit companies to see it as a viable means of distributing 500-1000Mb Games. Plus things like copy protection (not that they work but management in big companies like to think they do) are harder to do if distributed electronically. And big companies are stuck in teh mind fra

Methinsk any new Galciv Forum shuld not have an Edited option (Or is a post is edited, then a link back to the unedited version is included) will mean that people can make edited posts for things like spelling etc but not substantially change their posts and then use that to their advantage (as sencho did). But on the whole, editing your first post which is the cause of the whole debate is a tad immature.
god help us no
HMS All the way ;) Shuld make a little config file for the bits and pieces like this like SMAC's list of colony names etc.
The number of saves per se should not be penalised but soemthing like the number of saves/turn. If a gme last 500 turns with 10 saves that isn't a problem but a 500 turn game with 500 saves does seem to suggest a bit of "This game will blow the hell out of averages because every turn was PERFECT". Eliminates the influence of luck.

Uh, er..yeeaaaasss....good idea *Very* good idea..I second that....(Can I get the full download for free too? :P) seriously though that idea is very goo and would alay many fears / questions ppl might have.Assuming this board can handle stickies of course.
Just wondering about the modding'nes of Galciv in relation to thigsn like the tech trees. For example,. say I want only empire X to have ship class Y. Wil that be possible (more specific than good guy bad guy sorta thing).

Java runs SLOOOOOOW. Even running simple games takes up a lotta CPU power and a fully fledged proffesional game will never run under Java as it stands.
