Morpork
Heh, I manually control Hero throughout the game. Other ships may get set to auto, but I use Hero as my prime warship (until I get the serious warships built, at least). :HOT:
Nope. Ships are as-is. The only improvements that can be made are by researching new techs, building social improvements that enhance ships, or finding certain anomalies with survey craft. ~SDC~
Don't forget that when you have the money slider out, you can mousewheel it for faster results. I usually have civs become quite friendly with me when I sell them a bunch of tech. ~SDC~
So far, I've only installed Frogboy's mods (woot! Smuggling for evil!) I intend to use the upcoming mods that Stardock is releasing though (ships, I think). ~SDC~
I've discovered that if you hit spacebar, it wipes out their movement rate for the rest of the turn. So don't hit it unless you want to leave the ship where it is. Not sure if this is intentional, though... any devs still about? :notsure: ~SDC~
Uh, he said "find SYSTEM"... not sure about that, though. If I get a message about a particular system that isn't mine, I suppose you could contact each AI and look through their planets to find it. ~SDC~
Anybody else hear Mongo from "Blazing Saddles" when Bobo "speaks"? ;) As far as MidnightBreakdown's analysis... you might want to check out the strategy forum for PQ/morale/maint ideas. It's true that the planets don't really stand out, their basically just a PQ rating (perhaps more images and variations of planet surfaces?)... I mean, two class 15's are identical, and can have identical socials; no distinction is made ingame (other than where the planet is located). Now,
I'm not too worried about score. It would be nice to know just what the points actually mean ("okay, I got 420... hmmm, how high could I get at cakewalk?"). Since it takes me a while to finish a game, I'm well aware that I'll never get top 20, even at higher difficulties. What I do think Metaverse is good for is updating the AI, and planning for new strategies... not to mention the future integration of downloading top-player strategies from it. ~SDC~
I take it that only works with the Drengin.net option? 'Cause it didn't do anything for me. ~SDC~
Whoa, I didn't realize there were so many modules for resources. By the time I get the tech high enough, I'm usually at war with somebody (*coughDrengincough*), so I end up researching war-stuff. ~SDC~
I guess that means that somebody with video editing skills is gonna have to step up. :) I'd go with the SE version, just to see that cool ring-effect in the explosion. :CONGRAT: ~SDC~
As I mentioned above, I owned several Atari systems. I could've gotten a Commodore or Apple, but, no, I wanted an Atari computer. Could've bought a Gameboy, but I trusted Atari, and bought the Lynx (had to buy a GB not long after 'cause the Lynx went kaput). I had hoped that the Jaguar would do well, but by the time I had saved enough money to buy one, well, it didn't look like the system would last much longer. As far as I'm concerned, they were once the "best"... let the name rest
I think that's because when you buy something, you don't immediately have it... you have it "next month". Now if the devs only want us to be able to buy one social/military per planet per month, there should be a warning pop-up when you try to buy two things in the same turn. ~SDC~
Oh, Lord, that's a crazy mp3. :D Sounds like the sort of show music at the Infogrames booth at E3 (or some such expo). ~SDC~
Don't the resolutions have a time limit? After a few years it should be over. If it's permanent, then you can either leave the UP (which prevents trading, so not a good idea in this case), or find other means of income. At least any AI that was planning to do heavy trading is screwed too. ;) ~SDC~
Instead of "Cancel" it should say "Demolish". "Cancel" sounds like you're preventing it from being built. ;p ~SDC~
As a previous fan of all things Atari (2600, 5200, 800XL comp, Lynx), I'm not too crazy about resurrecting the name for new games. Atari is defunct, dead, no more. Worse, the name hasn't been used for a few years, so name recognition is pointless for younger gamers... older gamers that remember Atari (at least, those who remember *fondly*), won't be fooled into thinking that they're back ("Dude, Atari's back! And they made UT2003!"). ~SDC~
Gotta agree with Za H on this... the only reason I ever have loads of bases (each with multiple modules) is that I don't have any other practical use for military production for all planets (assuming I'm not in war, or about to enter war). If I have 2-3 planets building a needed ship (like a trade or colony ship), the other planets are wasting money if I don't put *something* in their queue. Since constructors don't have any upkeep, and as long as I don't create new, unneccessary bases (extra
I thought the starbase repair module affected ships only (isn't it a military module?). I never bothered with it because I've never got my ships to have the hundreds of hp's necessary to make a 1% increase worth it. It's only practical use seems to be if you have loads of sb's in the same sector.... but that's a lot of wasted constructors getting only +1% per base. Now make it +3-5%, and it would be worth it. :) ~SDC~
Ah, so instead of "give me money or we go to war" it's "give me money AND then we go to war". I'm wondering if the AI's get money right before they attack (and I don't mean tribute). That might explain why the Drengin get so freakin' rich in my games. :p ~SDC~
Wait, will the AI actually *buy* a war treaty? ~SDC~
Alzandrion, it's the "zerg rush" ("tank rush" if C&C). :) I usually play on medium maps, and my Hero ends up as the flagship of my warfleet. I've noticed the other players' survey ships, and the best they seem to have is an extra point or two of att/def (maybe extra hp because of the war party). ~SDC~
Gah, ya beat me to it. ;) ~SDC~
Well, 5% increase on a class 17 is 17.85, rounded down is 17. Add a soil enhancer and you'll get class 19 (only class 18 without the extra 5%). ~SDC~
