"#29 by Citizen William Hogg - 4/24/2003 7:56:13 AM So am I one of the few people who has never had a problem with SDC *ever*? I personally rather like SDC and think it's rather useful. It's one of the better updating systems I've seen for a game." I concur. I did have a little problem at first, but with a little experimentation and some kindly replies to my question on the forum I figured out about the CD key needing to be entered in the Drengin tab field, no big deal. "Galatic Forum: How to suggest changes and get the developers to think about it" Offer money to the developers? Techs? Altarian dancing girls? LOL
"by Veteran Toaddog - 4/9/2003 8:43:54 AM I knew someone would look. I am stupid because I didn't know that you could colonize a system in a sector that has minor races or opponents. I played 6 games staying only in my sectors with my colony ships. I was afraid to start a war. I take it this still holds true, I read it in the encyclopedia. Now I have to re-think my whole game strategy. This is the honest truth." You aren't alone... I didn't realize this either! :( <b
Excellent suggestion, Brysos!
Hah, you want to read about a *real* terror star ;)? See this link: http://www.gonegold.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=011868
"#23 by Citizen Baerd - 4/3/2003 10:53:53 PM The only way it could have been better is if it was hand delivered to my door - and came with someone (preferably feminine and scantily dressed) to do the housework I'm let slide while I play the game." If someone "feminine and scantily dressed" came to my door with GalCiv... well Brad, I have to be honest, I might not get the game installed right away ;)
I agree about the mini-map color problems with the Yor and the Drengin. Maybe the Drengin could be made a little more pink-ish (wouldn't that piss them off ;) )
It must be due to an early version, my game was also recorded with an "NA".
#6 by Citizen Mediator - 4/3/2003 4:46:09 AM "They should also take the AIs generated by submissions from really bad players (like myself) in order to make the game easier for people who are regularly beaten by fool-level AIs" Sort of a "The Mouse That Roared" philosophy? LOL
Not even with 72 corvettes? Ouch! :( Time to make nice-nice with the Evil Ones ;)
Soulfire, are you at war with someone? You can't be at war and win culturally. I've won a cultural victory without occupying other race's systems. I move a starbase into the sector and build up the cultural influence value, which gives me the sector eventually.
Thanks for the info, Tomsa. Now, where's that programable calculator of mine...? ;)
I've noticed that the AI also sells the trade goods at what I consider ridiculously high prices! I was offering half a dozen techs for Tri-Strontium Steel and they wouldn't take it :( Also, I have seen trade goods on more than one culture's diplomacy screen (Aphodisiac, to be specific). Once is became available through more than one culture, you would think that the price would drop, wouldn't you?
Thanks for the info Horatio! It never occured to me to use propoganda except to prevent very low morale. I'll have to try this approach :)
But does knowing all that info really make much of a difference on a friendly? I have tossed a lot of credits into espionage and it seems that I never can tell if it was worth it.
Popup Target said: "Forgot to point out, if you have such an area, the AI isn't stupid, it will send freighters your way to benefit from that." Man, if this is true, I'm going to have to rethink my Constructor/Starbase build philosophy ;)
I see now why some people feel that the random events can really be a deal breaker with the game. Yesterday while playing on a small map and at war with the Drengins, they managed to not once, but *twice* get the "Precursor Covettes" event (ouch!). The first time was early enough in the game when 16 enemy corvettes suddenly showing up was really going to cause me some significant damage, so I quickly arranged a peace treaty with the Drengin and they diverted the fleet of corvettes to my
Has anyone noticed if it's easier to control the Senate if you are one party versus another? It seems as though my War Party is finding it easier to stay in control in this game than in the last game I played where I was the Federalist party.
I have the latest update and the trading seems ok, but it's definitely tied much closed to the attitude. My ally and I trade almost one for one, while guys with a "Cool" relationship want a half-dozen techs of mine for one of theirs.
Anyone else suspicious that the value of a parsec (3.26) is darn close to the value of pi (3.14 etc)? I see grand cosmic forces at work... ;)
I'm playing a game where I have been using espionage and destabilization again the Drengin for quite a while, spending thousands of "bc's" over several years. I have gotten the periodic message screen with eye containing North and South America (?) which reports the level of my intelligence, but that really doesn't tell me much. I think there needs to be more granularity or detail in the espionage and destabilization process, especially the latter. I have no idea how the money is being
I've been getting the minor updates through Stardock Central and the speed doesn't seem too bad at all, taking into account that the Atlanta server is probably having to deal with lots of other customers. I got the 84MB update for 1.01.030 in about fifteen minute through my cable modem, which works out to about 750 kbps, not bad for accessing a shared server being accessed by so many people.
I *think* I am being destabilized, but I'm not sure how I would know. How can I find out, and if I am being destabilized, where do I spend money to counter it?
To William White I re-entered the serial number and that did show the new version. Of course, it's downloading the full 85 Megs, but I have RoadRunner so it should be done in a few minutes.
I'm not seeing the 1.01a either. My Stardock Central lists 1.01.029 as being the lastest.
