It could be that stupid nickname page has the same problem I do...we both stink at playing this game!...I tell you, I have been around the block with many games in my time but never had I had so much trouble beating a game as I have had with this one...I look at those Mega scores and think..."how the hell do these people do it?"...but the game is so damn good that I never get frustrated, I just crank up another game and try something different... however, in those dark times, when this game has

Yes..thank you for the cheat tip...though I would rather be surprised by what I discover, I will resort to this method if I feel there is no alternative....It would be interesting though if 4 civs were at each corner of the Gigantic map and the other 2 somewhere in the upper and lower center of map...the time it would take to discover each other would make for a fun game!
Well, I keep firing up this game and resetting when I feel crowded in a Gigantic Universe...for example: Sol was in the lower left quadrant of a Gigantic galaxy at sector 4-19...I found the Arceans at sectors 2-20 and 2-18.....I found the Yor at 5-18 and I found the Drengin at 9-18...the entire northern, north western and eastern quadrants were cut off from me...all I had was the remaining Southern section, where to my not unexpected surprise, some independent planets were already there....this
I have played quite a number of games using the Gigantic Galaxy map. In every occassion, all 5 of the AI races were relatively close to me...it seems that the AI races are not spread out the entire map, but are crowded in the same quadrant that I occupy...have I just run into a string of coincidences?...my expansions are cramped and limited as I'm boxed in by the other races...is this a game design or simply my bad luck? To me...DS9 became good when they noticed the Bab5 story arc and started their own with the Dominion Wars...prior to that it was typical Star Trek fare..
I mentioned in another thread that one of the reasons I like SEIV is because of its BAB5 mod...the B5 races are incorporated into the existing game so it has plenty of variety...not a perfect translation but it's fun..hope it makes its way to GALCIV someday....
Just sharing with thoughts already expressed..I enjoy both games as they play very differently...if you have the financial means to do so, pick up SEIV..I especially like the Babylon5 mod that SEIV has and am looking foward to the Star Trek mod that is being developed..there is plenty of room in the gaming world for 2 quality 4X games and these two rank at the top...I will admit though to ocassionally loading up Star Trek-Birth of the Federation..I may be in the minority but I still enjoy that g
Laurina says: "Or, if that doesn't help, go for the direct download of GalCiv, using the serial number on your CD case to set up your account" Was your tongue in your cheek when you posted this, since I would need to buy the game a second time before downloading it?
When installing the game from the CD, at the 15% complete mark, I receive "An I/O error occurred while installing a file." I retry, abort, reinstall, but at 15% the same situation always develops. I have all backround apps closed....I have a PIII with 42gigs available hard drive space....
I bought the game at EB and have the manual, yet I still would not mind a copy in Word. My eyesight is not the greatest and I am finding it difficult to read the black font on silver background without developing an eye strain and headache...I can only read the manual for short periods....never had that occur before, but I guess there's a first time for everything....
