I'd have to buy several copies for me and my kids...as long as it was turn-based like the original. MoM was a great game. We still have it and try to play it occasionally on the XP machines. I hate the so-called "RTS" strategy games and in this case my kids agree. [Message Edited]

Sorry about that. Maybe I need a "Submit" confirmation as well...

Yea, some sort of confirmation is needed. I have accidentally colonised planets as well.

From a real perspective, I would think starbases in a setting based on the tech in GalCiv would be mostly self-supporting and would be generators of income, especially as tech increased. If they need to be limited for game balance purposes then some sort of simplistic command-point related system as above would be ideal. We do need the ability to mothball ships and bases rather than destroy them to reduce maintenance.
It is'nt broken, so don't fix it. You can make all sorts of arguments rationalising for or against the idea. Bottom line is : Don't muck up the game.
Well, as CariElf said, she has contacted me and was so nice that I am almost embarrassed that I ever complained. No doubt I will be disgustingly happy in short measure.
Good question....
"IMO dialup isnt cheaper becuase you need to have a phone line. Sure it may be that you get both total under $50 but think about what else comes with having a phone line? Endless telemarketing calls :/ Im a lot happier with a cellphone and I can call all I want on weekends to anywhere in the country and unlimited mobile to mobile minutes are sweet. I can talk forever!" Obviously you are not Married with Children :) We have to have a phone line. It often doubles for the internet. M
I am always online when I try to upload scores. Broadband is not available where I live. It is not available in a lot of places. Those of you in college or living in large cities take this for granted. Moving from a large city to a small town can be a shock in more than one way. I cannot even get broadband via satellite right now. Also, $50/month is not "cheap" for a lot of people. Dial-up over my phone is a lot cheaper - $17/month. A survey last year indicated that broadband was losing
I did e-mail directly. No joy, though I did get a message back that my mail had been forwarded to someone. that was 10 days or two weeks ago. I bought the game on CD at EB the day it was available and I update on a daily basis. I really like the game, but I am getting chapped at the inability to continue growing my Metaverse score. Actually the lack of support is more upsetting than the problem itself. I finished my re-install and will try playing without ANY add-ons to muddy t
I registered long ago and have re-registered since then. Still, first two game scores uploaded, the last one won't. I'm going back to SEIV until some of this stuff is ironed out.
Same here. I was able to submit my first two games, but I updated to 1.2049 (and later) I can't submit this last game. I would hate to toss it I had my best score yet. And HALLELUIAH! Frogboy has noticed this problem!! FYI I have e-mailed the official help address. The silence is dragging on...
Not true. The first two games I submitted successfully had the mod about the Hostile Alien sea critters (By Nephrinn) that was available for download when the game was released, along with 3 by Frogboy. However, the thrid game I played will not submit. If something has been changed and games cannot be submitted for ANY reason then Stardock should blasted well put a sticky up about it. An increasing number of players are complaining about this and there has been NO official response for two weeks

Recently I got myself out of a jam by using one of the minors. Having allowed the Arcaens to get too powerfu AND allied with the other major races (except the extinct Drengins) I was in a jam, specially as I was heavily dependent on trade with the other majors. Soooo, I noticed one of the minors was at war with the Torians And the Arcaens. I began moving my ships into Arcaen space and then transferring them to the minor, who would then proceed to wreak havoc on traders, transports, space station
USS is fine with me, but I see no reason not to make it customisable, other than time.
Bump.... Please help us Froggy-wan. You're our only hope.
I complained about the same events last night. Is anyone listening?
Wanted: a "Slow (more expensive) research" option in the game setup phase to stretch the tech tree out and re-pace the game.
Battlehammers too powerful....build dreadnoughts :-)
Also, I have noticed that it takes much longer to find and load the GalCiv website than most others. This morning I was unable to access it for two hours.
