I have often seen vast rows of corvettes and other alien fleets that run almost in a line one behind the other. Where the first one attacks, then the second, etc.etc. Should I launch ships and have them "auto attack" (as I think they move to the closest target) or hold them in reserve, build a fleet then auto them? As a defense idea, maybe we could get some mine tech? That way we could place fields of them and either slow down or halt some enemy advances. (maybe even reduce some enemy s

I had good spying and have on a few games gotten all the tech of another empire. Only it didn't seem to matter much to me, because when I would open the diplomat screen and check to see if I had all their tech, they still had some I didn't.
Just lost another game to the Drengin, I was expanding as I thought fairly quickly. I would send colony ships to worlds that were supposedly good for me using stellar cart. But the Drengin took all the worlds along the edge of my space, and as I could not range past them I sent constructors to build bases. Only to find that the Drengin had already expanded outward. Half the galaxcy was taken by them! They were waring on everyone! What happens when they kill one of the minor races? do t
Only if I put spending at 100%, cash drops or is that a good thing? If I don't buy colony ships the other races quickly colonize the good planets close to me. Like they are using MY sensor data to see the worlds/systems, which might be how the computer is not affected by the fog of war. I also set my spending for the 3 sliders at 30, 30, 40 so I can do research. Those numbers good? Or should I do more 25, 25, 50 ??
ok... easy instructions for getting into/using stardock. If you have downloaded and installed stardock, click it and run it. That will allow the program to sync with Drengin.net and you will see a list of "games" you have installed. Gal Civ is most times listed at the top, click once on it so it is selected. The you'll see an "update" button further right, click that and it will do everything else on it's own. The update fixes a few bugs and is worth it.
I have started a game, giant galaxcy, common stars, I have gone a few turns enough to explore the 10 or so sectors around me. Low and behold I have found 3 of the major races and 2 minor ones. I have 6 planets while one race has 7, another 9 and the third 10! They have several colony ships flying everywhere! while I struggle to launch one as I can afford it. The are even building corvettes with the two races that have 9 and 10 planets. My population was rising steady, but with meeting t
Ditto, I thought they only could be built at resources.. could not figure how the enemy was building them all over, thought they were over mining the resource.
Bugger!! There was supposed to be a word between the quotes after the ... Top of the colume to: Months. I also will only "buy" a colony ship when they get cheap enough to, like when they have a few more months to go and I find a 20+ that I want to grab really quick.
Well, buying the soil stuff is not a good idea. I start my games most times buying colony ships as many as I can until I get to around 100 coin left. I ensure that my production slider is low enough that I have profit coming in. To launch a colony ship, as you look at the planet screen, click the "little ship" icon within the "star field box" on the right side there. Then with the "blue box" around it high-lighted, click the "ship" button further right with the green arrow to "launch" the select
What do the Govenors do? I was clicking thru all 4 and just assigning each new tech for them to put on the list, can I use just one? Do they have like area's they govern and would there be more than 4 ?? Thanks
Ok, didn't mean with the "canned" comment to mean the whole game, just the saved game I was currently playing. Guess I will look into the "archives" (I think) and "undo" those techs/projects on the "smaller worlds. Since it seems that the worlds with more population can handle more projects. (military wise) Now should I have some planets make corvettes/hammers and send them to other worlds? Since I don't want to leave any planet without defenses. I also have the planetary shield, makes
Ok, so from what your saying, don't build "everything" (every tech) on every planet. Guess this game gets canned... So, I guess in starting worlds, mostly go with population improvements and tech like banks, stock market and economy centers to max income. Then on the larger worlds where I want to make attack ships build more power plants, etc?? Are political buildings any good? should I build a few of those seeded thru out my planetary territory? an example: If I had
Ok... wasn't too sure if after the thing was built that you could still add more defense mods to it, wonder if adding the "speed" mods might make it faster? Since adding a bunch of constructors together might take a while...
Spin the "mouse wheel" ?? I had tried that and it didn't work for me, was doing "lots of clicking" :(
Can you sell back old ships and over built tech to reduce costs?? should I build bases in a sector without it being near a resource? Does building ship yards and that line of tech allow you to build constructors faster? Do the darn bases even repair themselves? Are there "repair" ships that can repair them?
With all the speed improvements, why are they so slow? Also for being a "star killer" why are they so easy for the darn enemy to shoot down?? The death star in "star wars" was bristling with defensive weapons. I guess that if I was going to build one I could just send a fleet of constructors which move faster to build one close to the enemy.. I also notice sometimes that ships on "auto pilot" don't move! (maybe it's just me) :(
Yup, my thoughts agree with you about the computer not affected by "fog of space" too. I had resources near my worlds, far beyond the "sensor range" of any other race. As I was just starting to find and reach them (other races). Next thing I know, they have bases at the resources and are taking planets beyond my planets closer planets to their empires. Course I have had a few "stuck" enemy colony ships found sitting at a couple of my systems where I colonized them first. The computer also seems
I am currently playing a giant galaxcy, and have put 20% to military to keep the other races away. I have researched almost every piece of Tech, but I cannot get into Alliances (which I traded with other races for cash) (unless it's a really weak race that needs more help than it could give me). I have planets that have built almost all the improvements, so they can max production and revenue output. Now I just cannot make enough money to get ahead. If I attack 1 other person, suddenly I loose l
Ok, as my planets get larger, the "slider" for selecting people becomes more difficult to use, as the slightest nudge right goes from zero to 100's. I have use "auto launch", but don't really want to be sending half a planets pop somewhere else. Anu chance there might be a manual method to type in numbers?
