413 by Veteran Killa Koala - Who would the author be? Doesn't sound familiar...
Terry Goodkind is the author of the series. It is always sort of scary when the programmers are the sanest of the inmates here. I did enough in college to know how warped they are. :) Now I just get to curse databases, VB, and hardware/installation problems. Cari, are you a fan of the UserFriendly strips? Recently had a couple you would probably appreciate. :) [Message

I didn't make judgment good or bad, just a female head of state for a major government which has a great deal of interaction with the rest of the world. Many other countries have had them, but most, such as Philippines, do not have as much of an influence on the world stage. I just believe that a female US president would quickly shed the gender discrimination if she could achieve the office in the first place and be criticized for her politics and corruption like any male president.

Actually I don't think it would be so bad having a female POTUS. Many objected to Thatcher's politics, but I don't recall all that much of an issue being made of her gender here in the US or around the world for that matter. Granted our press can be rather myoptic and/or slanted (in any direction) at times, but I just remember a few crude jokes about what she was doing with Reagan to remain so close.

I always find it interesting that I'm considered evil when 98 or so percent of my people admire me and I have fought the fewest wars of any majors. I do generally have to cringe away from the Boilshire Farm event though. :p I just think those stupid worms should be used for fishing, those pre-industrial 'volunteers' aren't treated all that poorly, and I hate the cold polar ice caps. I have yet to even blow up a star system. Why destroy when you can steal? :)

It was a long game and I was taking my time to research up the tree. I was at Beyond Human tech wise and cash reserves were low at the end. They had never reached the obnoxious levels I have seen mentioned, so I am a bit confused. I just feel so dirty being listed as anomalous. I am a good backstabbing evil Hobbit and wouldn't do something quasi legal. Unless it was really, really profitable or something. After I posted I noticed Theoden's note. Thanks for all the responses.

Greetings and such. I had finished a game at home, trying to solidify a spot in the top 100 (for a day or so anyway) and didn't notice that it gave a 0 score for the metaverse submission and received the anomalous score in my profile. I know some mods can result in it and I do use JesusofBorg's Enhanced Terraform mod, but was curious since it has never been a problem in the past. I had not built omni-terraforming on any planets so don't think ultra high PQ should have been a problem.

A slight scuffing noise draws your attention to the lock and you see a small figure scampering away. "Wake up, you Pirates! How can I taunt you a second time if you are, um, well, doing stuff to have babies and all that? Where are your priorities? Congrats to those who deserve it and thanks for the baubles I borrowed."

DarkHobbit Male Halfling Procurer DarkHobbit is generally easy going and friendly, quick to laugh and free with gifts. Unfortunately those gifts are sometimes still claimed by others which tends to lead to disagreements. His most vigorous exercise is running away from trouble which he does often enough to remain small enough to hide in his favorite shadows. He does have some strong beliefs which he will fiercly defend but recognizes others have their own opinions and embraces any

Glad everyone is ok, Theoden, and hope they make a quick recovery and the law fries the drunk driver or at least singes him a bit. How do you wish backstories submitted, e-mail or here? I am generally more prolific on the boards and such from work (joys of direct backbone connection) and just play or such from home (woes of dial up).

The Hormel suit was a bit more thought out although still rather stupid. They have given up stopping the use of the word, but object to having it capitalized and in the company name. On a side note I always find some of the evidence that champagne didn't actually originate there amusing.

Just a random lurker here, but couple of ideas for running one char with two people: The 'Hat of Difference' from 1st edition AD&D (believe it was in Unearthed Arcana) which allowed char to be another class as long as it was worn which would make things truly odd since technically same char, but different class and so may behave differently in order to accomplish things, or another option is something like a possession where the true char happened to be in the wrong place at wrong time while so

DarkHobbit shakes his head and mutters, "They drag us off to miserable, dangerous places and tell us to burgle, then when we can do it in quiet and comfort they tell us not to. Even Bilbo had to practice sometime. I see he still attacks the helpless training pole with his axe even when nothing is swinging at him." On a game note, I have seen the gigantic map in 1.1 is, well, really, really big and there is nothing like the warm, fuzzy feeling of telling your advisors, "No, dreadn

DarkHobbit lounges back in his comfortable hideout/den and sets aside his drink to place a com call. "I was wondering what sorts of openings you have for a lazy pirate who really likes to just steal loot and spend it rather than all that violence and stuff. I really don't think I would be comfortable in one of those tiny fighters or corvettes and dreadnaughts are just so, well, nasty and bristling with weapons. I would prefer being stationed to a party palace actually. Any posts avai

As for a game with star lanes, it would be interesting to do a strategy game with a star system like the inter-system of Freelancer. Lanes can give you a large speed advantage but they can be disrupted and you can go off lane to get to obscure places or to come in from an unexpected approach. Would also make defense interesting since most would concentrate defenses on the lanes but would need mobile forces for the flanks. Ascendency did have disruptable lanes which was amusing/annoying depend

Hrm. And I suppose you are incorruptible to scraped together pocket change and year old candy canes? All information would be used purely for research. I am really quite harmless and would never use such tactics to rule the universe(s) and crush all the lesser beings who dare to oppose me. Trust me. :)

I'm sort of curious about what some of the Stardock coders think/know about the game. Frogboy has a few of his scores up and it wouldn't be right to have the team making waves in the Metaverse, but what sorts of nasty strategies have you used against each other in testing? Who thought up that really quite gross (no reference to the empire) Boilshire Farms event? Who is the best at throwing sharp objects at Nakar (and are more points awarded for accuracy or pain inflicted)? Just random curios

A small figure creeps out of a shadow, looking around the land as he puts away a rust splotched shortsword. "Hrm. Nice country, lots of marks...um...neighbors, and if anyone asks I can always blame those 'DH was here' carvings on Darkhold. I can even taunt pirates and hide behind Ray the Wanderer. At least I could if he would stop wandering, but I guess Ray the Standing Still doesn't have quite the same ring to it. I'll have to keep an eye on this place."

I think pretty much everyone here would recommend buying it. GalCiv didn't have the developmental budget as MoO3 which limits the graphics and eye candy, but they put together a great game and code. Almost as important is that it is an evolving game with constant support and feedback from the design team. Yesterday they held a live chat to let customers know where things were going as well as take questions and suggestions. Buy the game and join the rankings. We need everyone available to g

Heh. A bit of delay isn't such a bad thing. I need to quickly finish the two games I currently have going. I think the poor Drengin are wondering why my diplomatic courier is built on a dreadnought frame and ambassadors are dressed in marine uniforms.

The 2nd expansion pack ideas look good although the map editor could do interesting things to the metaverse for the unscrupulus. I would certainly wish to buy it and would more strongly consider the direct download method this time. My personal opinion is also to not force a Christmas deadline if some of the options take longer than expected. It is the best time for sales so you might consider a pre-order if things are behind schedule but keep the game quality high instead of releasing someth

One suggestion actually for this thread would be a separate brief listing of desired features stickied so people can see what has already been offered. Also a very short response since some such as waypoints are already in the beta expansion. Others have been answered in various other forums but are often difficult to locate. Any craz...um...dedicated volunteers for sorting through 21 pages of suggestions, gripes, rants, and random comments? :)

41% here, so only 1 point away from being the answer to the universe like CypherPax. :p It is actually a bit mixed having a wife who is also up there in the rankings (31%) in that sometimes have a bit of conflict over main computer/phone line. I do feel a bit cheated about the computer languages and think more should be mentioned. Considered checking Latin since know too many of the 'dead' puter languages (i.e. Fortran, PL/I, Cobol {at least wishing it were dead}, etc.)
