This seems like a better alternative to hamanchi, and doesnt have the problems of networks getting full and having to kick people, or having to have multiple different networks. All the games are listed in 1 place.

I'll give it a spin; I've heard Game Ranger being tossed around in some older C&C circles.

Okay, I approve. It doesn't have the fussy setup like Hamachi; and even though there's still pirated players on there, it's not such a big deal as keeping your public hamachi  channels clean of compatible peeps. Centralized chat; if more and more legit players start using it it'll be golden. Also has a friends list function, so, keep track of all your fellow players on there so you know who'll be compatible with ya.

Hopped in and played a game with a dude, no lag whatsoever. Didn't have to set a damn thing up....granted I already have my ports forwarded, but it didn't have any of the special setups Hamachi requires. I endorse, and I'm converted.

Look for Rev. Lazaro on there and hit me up.

Worked fine for me and a friend.

Until the official things are fixed, i'm going to play there.

Game runs pretty damn good; so far out of the 3 matches I've played on there (full matches) we had maybe 1 pause for about 5 seconds...everything else has been nice and smooth. Also, I noticed there's Ladder options on Game Ranger....wonder if they'll support Demigod ladders? Only thing that would suck though is all the pirated players being included....unless they find a way to detect patch versions.

When you run gameranger you can select to display demigod games, join one based on its description. once the host starts the game demigod loads up and straight away takes you all the way to the game listing for lan games and you just gotta select join.

Keeping this bumped because people need to know about this.

I'm up there. Seems that most people play the unpatched 91 version though, and a lot of people there are pirates. Still, it is a much better alternative to using Impulse to play.

And that's the exact reason I will NOT use it.  Doesn't matter if it was so perfect it somehow miraculously made my computer start printing out real money, I still will not use a product that supports piracy like that.  It's down right rediculous.   I mean, people like me pay good money, hard earned money, to play this game and then you've got stuff like GameRanger that's allowing other people who jacked a copy off the internet to play for free.   That ain't right!

Maybe if the 3rd party software was supported by Stardock and had some sort of update that would prevent pirates from using it, I might just use it then.  But until then, using it only support the use of 3rd part programs to be used for and by pirates.
