unfortunatly ,myfist0, the reb is ice only, and I do NOT like ice except to cool drinks and have only played it a couple of times since the beta and during the beta it was only one game per beta patch die to the ice build up around the computer that reb is on.

myfist0 thanks for the work, time and imagination you have put into this mod.  I've said to everyone who will listen that this is the most wonderful Sins mod in existence.  One of my favorite ways to play it is to save often and just wander around watching the game play.  The models are great and it is so easy to get lost in it all... So thank you.

Oh my, dont just thank me, many many people contributed and had this mod going before I ever came aboard. But Psy and I seem to be the only survivors for now. A few are just 'lost in space', we keep sending out probes searching for them.
I'm assuming they've all been assimilated into some female collective. :(

I've recently start doing some SoA LAN PvP with about 6 other guys and I have an opponent that keeps kicking my ass as the Romulans using mainly D'deridex Warbirds. He throws their support fleets at my ships/structures while bombing my planets with the caps themselves, then cloaks and retreats one at a time as I try to focus fire them down. Any players out there know of a good counter for this as Federation, Klingon, or especially Dominion? (Nooooo PvPing with Borg)

Feds are easy.  Take an Akira and use the anti-cloak ability.  As soon as they cloak, fire it off and they're dead ducks.

 

The Dominion are a little harder, Virulents are not as reliable an anti-cloaking vessels, but they do have any ability that can end up revealing ships that cloak.

 

The Klingons are the hardest, since like the Romulans, they too can cheese the cloak.  They don't currently have anti-cloak measures, just a couple ways to disable abilities altogether.  They'll have more options in the next release.

Ever though about why they took a "Queen" to lead the borg?

Also I warned you: The borg are overpowered ^_^

 

Thank you to all the people that were and are working on this mod. I never saw any mod or even game that drags you so much into ST atmosphere.

Even though it's not the point you were actually talking about, as far as the actual story of Star Trek goes, the Borg took a Queen, because it was the only way to restore order after the Federation messed up the status quo.

Untill the crew of the enterprise interfered through that one captured and later returned drone, the collective worked just fine as a real collective with literally every member being equal.

Hmm, yes that wasn't my point. I assume you know real women? So the "restore order" idea makes sense ^_^

I know the late game balance is not priority, but did you change the "black Vortex" ability? It seams wrong to me that the Roms can practically switch off an enemy fleet in middle of battle while their ships are completely ok. A fleet with a few ship with this ability seams practically untouchable, even the borg have problems against it.

I was thinking to have it also affect own ships but change it to a "distance weapon". So a Rom commander could cripple an enemy fleet from distance before battle (reduce antimatter, maybe add some damage effect) but used close range it would also impact own ships. I can't remember if you can give a min distance for an ability to avoid the ai using it close range. But give it a much longer reload time, to avoid spamming by ai or players. (I just remember the Tek colony ship an ai with three level 6 of them could stall any battle forever :&#39;) )

I am more the instant gratification guy, models, graphics, UI, sound and music. You know, the stuff you change and you're done. Psy gets to do the abilities and all the balance that comes with it, the stuff I have no patience for. For abilities, there is nobody better than psy. I have been asking for some very weird stuff and in a couple days, holy crap, I asked for it all right, aahhhh.  8C  Careful what you ask for, you might just get it.

I may be "Retired", but i ain't DEAD ;)

I am trying to see what i can do (If anything) to get this ported over to Rebellion. Even if it means building it from scratch again just like we did for Entrenchment, and Diplomacy. I'm gonna build a basic working foundation without the abilities, and researches, and add them one at a time using the 1.1 reference files.

I make no promises. Just gonna see what i can do.

While I'm not a Trekkie, I intend to actually try this mod in a week or two. ;)   If you like I can run my Diplomacy to Rebellion update script on it and send you the results. I doubt it will run right of the back but it should save you a lot of monotonous changes, and probably 90% of the files will require no further changes.

Outstanding! That saves me one big headache.

The UI "window" files, and brushes should not have changed. The files haven't changed since Original Sins AFAIK. Except for additions for Entrenchment, and Diplomacy, but the formats themselves haven't changed. Link me to the working build, and ill try to port Fist0's UI over. Ill probably have to "beyond compare" the brush files, and look for what if anything that Rebellion changed. When i did TSOP for Rebellion i didn't see any differences at first glance.

I did the brush file connections already. I cant do the window files without seeing the screen.

And I totally rebuilt the brush files and the textures that they link to. Each race gets their own brush sheet and a matching texture sheet. I doubt if 1 original brush sheet is left. Between the old SoA UI and ICs UI, I could park a titan in the wasted space.

sharing a little gaming experience:

playing as "Marqui" I had setup a small galaxy with a Federation & Klingon team on one end, the Romulans to the side and the Dominon and Borg at two other ends. Me as Federation closer to Domion. Early I started fighting the Domion and made contact with the other races when the Borg sweep in and cut me off from the other races. I managed a stand-off with  Domion on one front-line and Borg at the other. I knew that the other races where also fighting the Borg as I could give them mission against them and they completed them. But I had no other intelligence, scouts or diplomat ships where all intercepted by the Borg. I feared the Borg would defeat the other races and than come for me, so after making peace with the others I reduced my defence against the Dominion to minimal and attacked the next Borg world, in hope to get some diplomat ships through to further improve relations with my allies  and see how they were doing.

The attack first went well, but before I could rebuild my losses a borg fleet jumped in. I thought "That was it! They decimated the other races and are now coming for you". So I prepared my remaining fleet for last battle. Just before they made contact a large Federation & Klingon fleet jumped in. Together we destroyed the borg fleet. It came out the the other races also where in a stalemate with the Borg when I attacked and confused their defence fleet. The other races started gaining ground and "send" a fleet. While I further focused on the Dominion the other races pushed back the borg until we won. Couldn't have been better done in the films.
