I apologize for referring to the available update as WB v.5.0.1. I was abbreviating and yet still thought it would be clear. Not too smart of me! As PowerUser BX has more accurately indicated, SDC is showing that "5.00 is installed and 5.00.001 is available". Even with the error message, the option to continue the upgrade with the File Not Found is offered and I also am not sure if I should proceed. What is contained in this

I upgraded to Windows 5.0 yesterday without a single problem and I'm really enjoying the new features and new look of WindowBlinds. Everything's fine! I just went to Stardock Central though and a Window informed me there was an upgrade available (v.5.0.1). I wasn't sure if I needed to unload WB's, reboot, etc. and go through that procedure so I simply clicked on update now to see what I would be prompted to do. I received the following err
dwax ... you won't lose your previously installed Skins. You'll be given the option to unstall ALL files including Skins, Themes, etc. Don't check that box and your Skins will be intact when you upgrade.
Thank you LittleHalfPint for the heads-up! Got it! Everything in WB5 seems to be working fine so all is well here! (Whew!) Now it's time to really explore my new toy.
Uh, oh! WB5 wasn't an option for me earlier on SC but 10 minutes ago I saw that it was listed under Demos. I unloaded WB4.6 then uninstalled it through SC and rebooted. When I went back to SC to install WB5, it was no longer listed. The option presented was to download WB3.0! What did I do wrong?
I've read several posts where others found it "very difficult" to remove the Alienware set of Suites. I've reached the point where I'd use the word "impossible". Is there an ordered procedure one needs to follow to switch from the "Darkstar" theme to a WB skin? When I attempted to do this last night, my first clue that something wasn't quite-right was noticing my system tray icons had disappeared. With the selected WB in place, I had t
I've visited your website several times before and continue to enjoy it very much! In-between messages here, I downloaded the Searcher86-Longhorn Inspirat 2 skin and have it in place now. Thanks very much!
Hi, Mr Winmodify. Will you include the Link to your website? Would really enjoy seeing your work! Is it the Winmodify site?
That's interesting, thomassen. I have 2.8 GHz P4 and 512MB RAM and I've noticed and recorded no sluggishness with this PC. If I did, I wouldn't have kept "DS". If anyone is prone to having 'issue's with software/applications, it's me and that's another reason I'm so enthusiastic about this one as it's working perfectly. Could be a 'first' during my 14 years of owning a computer. <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/wc/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border
With apologies if "everyone" here is aware of "Desktop Sidebar", but I only stumbled upon it the other day and it's brand new to me. Here's the Link: Link I've spent the last couple of days customizing it to include all the useful information and features I like to have handy. "Sysmetrix", unfortunately, didn't get along with my PC very well and now "DS" has allowed me to replace it as I can display the s
All I see is e mess for me I can't make out if each item is usefull or not. so How can I deselect it? I know exactly how you feel! I don't know if it's safe to delete a start-up program when I see something like: C:\Progra~1\NetAs~1\SmartB~1\MotiveSB.exe I don't know if you want to go to this extent, but I recently downloaded "SpeedUpMyPc" and ultimately purchased it. Link It not only lis
Thanks Koasati, Yrqal and butch123 for your replies! I obviously mis-read the literature and mis-interpreted the illustrations. I do think though that it's strongly implied that one can turn their desktop wallpaper into what the preview panel shows. Otherwise, why bother displaying what a wallpaper can or might look like with these "special effects" if I can't use those effects to make it look that way? <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/wc/smil
This is a great program that I downloaded last night. Link Quickly and easily does everything the literature promotes, except: It has a preview area complete with monitor effects such as inner shadows and a glare These effects look great in the "preview area" but, when I try to apply them by clicking on 'Set Wallpaper', they're not there. Can anyone tell me how to p
I really appreciate your advice, Koasati and aufisch! And, thank you Corky_O for taking the time to literally spell it out for me! Thanks to all!
Thanks for trying to help, Koasati. I was able to extract all the files in the Zip for the Cabal and Elsdee skins, store them in the proper folder, and use them because each downloaded as one file to then be extracted. Other skins I've tried though download as multiple files and I'm unable to extract them and save them in the Rainlendar Skins Folder. If I'm not mistaken, all that I've tried to download had the .zip file extension. Don't know why I
The skins are usually distributed in zip-files that hold the skin's ini-file and graphics files. To install a new skin you need to unzip the file into the Rainlendar's Skins-folder (usually located in C:\Program Files\Rainlendar\Skins). (Okay, got it). The skin's ini-file must be located in a separate subfolder under the Skins-folder (e.g.C:\Program Files\Rainlendar\Skins\MyTestSkin\Skin.ini). If you put it directly into the Skins f
My Windows Updates is certainly 'misbehaving' and seems 'broken'. I was on the phone Friday with both Microsoft and Dell about this: the Options panel for Windows Updates is "ghosted". I can no longer choose "Automatic", "Notify me", etc. as clicking anywhere within the selections window has no effect. Several diagnostic tests with Dell weren't able to fix it. I can't help but feel that these lastest updates were forced upon me as they sud
I'm sorry others are having this problem, too. At the same time, I take a little comfort that I'm not the only one. Since my first post, I've tried a couple of more things to no effect and as a last resort emailed the author on Feb. 1st. I've not heard from him, though. During the time it was crashing repeatedly, I 'accidently' right-clicked on it and ... it worked. So, that makes it more confusing that it would be okay, as you say RTCP, "
I was really enjoying the various displays, skins and functions of Sysmetrix during the two weeks it was working perfectly for me. Last week though, for a reason or reasons that I can't determine, when I would right-click on the program or the System Tray icon, I'd receive the notification that Sysmetrix had caused an error and needed to close with the following specification: C:\Docume~1\"username"\Locals~1\Temp\3a10-appcompat.txt. I
"read #1" ... ? This is the "sum-total" after so many thoughtful, insightful, caring responses? Please end this thread once and for all as this minimally talented skinner is not deserving of the same kind of care, concern and attention that has been shown towards him.
Thank you BlueDev. I very much appreciate your in-put! But, I don't have a secure connection to email and the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL) is 'clear'/not check-marked. Thank you fellow Canadian, Hankers, for also trying to help. I *do* have a sympatico account. It is however designated as: POP1.sympatico.ca. This is what I've been entering in the Server field. With doubts, but also with nothing to lose, I entered POP8.s
Hi Citizen The Journeyman, No apology necessary as I wasn't mislead by your previous post. I do thank you for trying to help me but I'm afraid GT3 will not work for me no matter what I try to do. Firewall configured to accept DX objects, email fields entered properly (again, thanks to you) and still ... nothing. After 2 days of trying, I give up.<
Thank you, Citizen The Journeyman, for literally spelling it out for me! *Slight* exaggeration, but I'm now going to download GT3 for the 48th time and see if I can get it to work for me If it does work, do you have a color preference for the new car I'll buy you? <
Hi crowbraid, Very thoughtful of you to take the time to respond. I have to know that my confusion is a matter of semantics. The Properties tab on Outlook Express shows the b1fip*** combo is in the field following "Account Name" and directly below is my "Password". I'm still left wondering if Account Name = Server Name = Username = Login ... if, in fact, they're all one-in-the-same. I've downloaded several email checkers (I specifi
I'm embarressed to reveal my ignorance in this area but, after "Umpteen-th" efforts and an equal amount of failures to properly configure a DX Object email checker(s), I have to show my hand. (Or would that be my red face?) I don't know what info to supply in the "Login" field. Is it my email address? My name? The b1fip*** letter/number combo my ISP issued me? I'
