Alex, I think you either have to be more specific or provide us with a link to get some feedback..

That's really good work! Now let's se you refine those pencil drawings into game graphics :)
It's not a stupid question. It simply underlines the growing demand for a FAQ and for more clear information. To answer your questions: 1) No, the game isn't due before Q3 or Q4 of 2002. 2) Currently the 3rd Alpha release is in test. 3) You may aquire the game in two ways, as far as I know 3.1 You may subscribe to drengin.net and get it there. 3.2 At a later time the game may be available in retail.
I'm inclined to get John credit for his point of view. See, since the AI usually knows all about the lay-out of the game and is able to remeber every obscure rule of it - and is able to keep track of multiple things without failing, it has an enormous advantage over the human player. In realtime strategy, especially at the higher levels, the only thing you have going for you as a player is those moments of inspired genius, where you're able to outsmart the game AI. But the AI will alway
I figure we're all kinda impatient for the Alpha 4, but better let Brad, Cari and the rest of the team do their dance and make a good show of it, than rush them and get a halfdone result. Remember this: If they get time to do things right the first time, we get to test a better version of GalCiv ;)
Simple question: Will propulsion improve as you research new energy sources and materials? Given the lay-out of the game (the .SHIP files) I suppose it will not be possible to design your own variations of ships in-game. If no modifications are possible, neither through improved technology or through design, I find that to be a part you should consider improving on.
I guess the last point was in relation to Counter Strike?
You're such an evil man. My heart almost jumped out of my chest...I think I've bruised my ribcage.. :)
I've never noticed the existence of shields - although I've researched the technology plenty of times. How is it supposed to work and how can I see it?
I tried both from a clean load and from within a game. I am getting files saved in the SaveGame directory.
Unistalled GalCiv prior to installing Alpha 3B. Installed the game, played for a while and the game crashed for no apparent reason (nothing to see in debug.err). This has happend to me 3 times in a row today. I've found the following things worth of notice: 1) Restore last Civilization doesn't work. The game hangs for a short while, then terminates. 2) Load Civilization doesn't work. Same as above. 3) Missing fonts: -*DEBUG ERROR: *** Unable to locate font ArialLtBlueB1
I think you may find it at www.theunderdogs.org. It's an abandonwarez site..and Ascendency is an awesome game. I played it a lot when it came out..
Here is something that might interest you guys. My game played smooth and well, but I still found this in the log: Debug Message: Possible error: number of fields for PList is not exact. Remainder: 12 pixels Debug Message: Possible error: number of fields for ShipList is not exact. Remainder: 12 pixels Debug Message: Possible error: number of fields for EventLB is not exact. Remainder: 41 pixels *DEBUG ERROR: *** Unable to locate font ArialLtBlueB10, FTDataManager::FindF
Hopefully you'll be shipping those CD's to Europe as well. If the game becomes available on CD's I'll definetly want to buy them :)
You caught me napping. I've just downloaded the Alpha 3 and will take time tomorrow to play it. Man! I just can't wait to fire it up and see what good stuff you've implemented this time :)
I believe what you describe is one of the bugs we reported in the first Alpha run: That a ship gets "off-center" after some event, like combat, and stays that way. So I figure it's a problem in the core of the program, that throws ships off by some pixels?
I'm in the Alpha...and I'm here again :) To be quite honest, I never went away - I hibernated..
Just to warn you guys, I've been bragging about GalCiv to everybody here in Denmark, so don't be surprised if you get swamped when the game comes out.. Actually that might be an idea for your marketing division: Interviews with the Alpha testers?
Hey, RHB :) It's not often that I get praise like that...and then in a forum. Thanks buddy..
If I may voice a simple wish, should you actually put our names in the game, I'd much rather have my firstname there. Why? Well, my firstname is Steen, which means rock in Danish. My lastname is Andersen - and it won't really stand out..
I'm a great fan of Trillian. Instead of having one application for each of ICQ, IRC, MS Messenger and AIM, you only have one - Trillian..
YEZ! Uh oh???! Here comes my girlfriend to strap me down...she got tired of me bumping around when we started the Alpha run..
I can easily understand your excitement, Brad. Having been working on it for years and years, seing it come to life must be an incredible experience.. I think I speak for everybody, when I say that we all wish you and Stardock the best of luck and succes with making this game choice of the year 2003 :) We'll be here to help, suggest and share your succes in our own little way, saying "We helped"..
Although I've been way too busy for my own liking the last week or so (RL came aknocking) it appears to me that there could be place of one last build before you tear the code apart - as Brad puts it. Pretty please? With sugar and a cherry on top?? :)
We'll be here..
