mmo-ish 4x space game: http://www.nicelycrafted.com/todc/index.html tried it out for a month a couple years ago. originally it was 24/7, which lead to me being stupid and losing sleep by waking up every couple hours to check on the game, i think theyve since made it limited by the number of hours a day you can play. was kind of interesting. games lasted a week to a month, kind of like pantheon in demig
I think there will be a lot of problems in the future with digital distribution. It can be very convenient and handy, true, but as I just pointed out with the above paragraph it can have it's problems as well. Do I think Digital Distribution will save PC gaming? No, not on it's own, but I do think it will help. I just hope in the future it doesn't turn into the only option.
how many cd stores do you see compared to before? or blockbusters? or drive in movie theaters?</p

i thought i read elsewhere that the players online # was people on impulse with demigod installed. so people playing demigod and people with demigod installed but not playing and impulse running (and playing another game or nothing at all). it's pretty easy to figure out roughly how many people are actually playing at once by multiplying # of games, it's closer to 150-300 (25-50 games x 6 average players) than then 1500-3000 which shows up in the players online #. numbe

this is why you keep your own lists of 1. who you like to team with, and 2. who you'd never team with again ;)
Over the past 15 years I’ve built up an increasing library of algorithms I’ve doodled together for how computer players could play more like expert humans. i've now had this happen 2-3 times. the game seems to end fine (no desync), but it never shows up in my list of games. as far as i can remember one or more people on either team have left before the end, but thats true for most games.
