Give me this rig. I'll do some good with it. Load it up with every scrap of software that you can, and I'll auction it off. I can feed a lot of hungry kids for five grand. If I can find a corporate sponsor that is willing to overspend, then I can feed even more. I am certain that there is a food bank in your area that would be delighted to receive this boon. You can benefit one person, or you can benefit a hundred or more. (And stop any and all whining in the process.) <p

@ Annatar11: Thank you for taking time to post that very well thought out reply. I'll give the game a whirl. Sincere best wishes, Mistralok

Hey guys. How is the strategy part of this game? I've played the demo, and the graphics are great, but I am more interested in the 'nuts and bolts' of the game. Have they improved over previous incarnations?

This is an incredibly generous thing to do. This is a lot of money to give away just to say 'Thanks for trying Impulse'. I just don't understand how anyone could be upset about this. Putting out this program in the polished, solid form it is in now, adding groundbreaking systems, and having one million users adopt it in this relatively short time period is an extraordinary achievement. Frogboy and Stardock have every right to crow about it. I don't support Stardock be

There is also e-bay and Craigslist. Don't buy any car until you have physically inspected it. If you aren't experenced, then find someone who is. If you buy a car on the net, sight unseen, you WILL be screwed.

Nice catch, adders0208. I never would have thought to do that. I always just assumed that if the totems went away, then the associated minions would go poof also. That being said, I tend to agree with innociv, in that any number of minions make precious little difference to the outcome of the game. Whether they number one or one hundred, they are still just a minor annoyance; something one must wade through in order to get to the commanding general.
Mine didn't.
Same here. Are you using an add-on for this? Sometimes an update can muck them up temporarily, until they catch up.

Frogboy, please don't change your beta policy. It is a proven commodity, and it works . I picked up GalCiv2 at retail, just after it was released, and have participated in every beta that you have offered. From that day to this I wouldn't consider any of them either "buggy" or "sucky". You shouldn't worry so much about what other people say. Grow a thicker skin and excersize your middle finger.

Sorry to hear about your problem, Tamren. Here are the links to a couple of free proggies that may take care of it. www.atrbune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 secured2k.home.comcast.net/2...undoBeGone.exe Run Spybot again to see what it comes up with. There may be a registry entry that hasn't been cleared up. Intall and run Ccleaner to be rid of it. Sorry I can't provide direct links. I use Firefox, which Stardock doesn't support. <

Just a little update. I got an email back from Jeff Buckland, the author/editor. He's a fine fellow, and has amended the article. @Island Dog: Perhaps you could edit this post to reflect the changes, so that the author doesn't have to wade through any more mail about this subject. BTW, what's up with the PR dep't? Jeff said that he couldn't get a straight answer about this, and thus the misinformation. One more thing; I also clued him into the two main classes of Demig
That direct link to ATI is because you have an ATI card. The link changes to nvidia site if you have nvidia graphics card.
Thanks, Blitz, I didn't know that. Interesting...I wonder how it knows? At any rate, Stardock and AMD/ATI are pretty tight. I think I remember seeing an AMD branded skin, and ATI has done at least one card giveaway promotion with Stardock, so I'm still pretty sure it's about the $$$.

It is a business arrangement. There is also a direct link in Impulse to the ATI drivers site.
They make it sound like you have to have Impulse running in order to ever play the game.
I read it the same way. I couldn't see any way to leave a comment or reply, so I fired off an email to hopefully get him to clarify. Here is the text: Hello. In the "Demigod Preview" article by Jeff Buckland, there is a piece of misinformation that I would like to see corrected. The article makes it seem like Impulse mirrors Steam, in that the player must have i
your other option would be a Radeon HD 4850. it's cheaper, requires less power, and the performance should be on par or better than the 9800 GTX+.
Strongly seconded. I own one of these and it is a brilliant card. It will run games such as Fallout, Demigod, or Empire Total at ultra-high settings with no problems. My rig is set up similarly to yours. I have a dual Athlon proc (2.8), 4 gigs ram, 2 hard drives, and of course, the 4850. I run all this with a 430 watt
There is such a majority of gamers who play only single player and are afraid of the jump to multiplayer.
We're not afraid of MP, we just don't care for it. The adolescent behavior alone is reason to avoid most MP centric games. I'm fine with the trashtalk; what bothers me more than anything else are the disconnects. I can put considerable time and effort into a game, and just when the tide turns in my favor, my opponent quits. This is especially true in any g
On my daily capped satellite connection...
Hey psychoak. Haven't we shared a HughesNet rant before? My limit is 350 megs/day. I have never been able to get a straight answer as to what this means exactly, but no matter. Where I live, (CST) from 2am to 5am, the cap limit is lifted. Even so, at my average download speed at that time (~180 KB/sec) I just might be able to download that much in two all-night sessions. Props to you bro; you are a true gamer. [e digicons]:thu

This is actually a very good idea. It would be a simple matter to design, or modify an existing mobo design to give it an external PCIe slot, which would couple with it's mate in the dock. The graphics board, cooling, and power supply would be built into the dock itself. Why stop at graphics? One could also add a higher end sound board. This wouldn't necessarily have to be in a dock, it could also be stand-alone, a la an external hard drive. A reasonable legnth of highest qual

Karma, as it is being implemented now on the Stardock forums, is simply a popularity contest. I could, if so inclined, start a thread titled "Hooray for Big Bouncy Boobies", and garner at least a half dozen karma in one fell swoop. There are many members of the Stardock forums who have spent countless hours of their own time through the years trying to help other members. This effort has been mostly undocumented. &nbs
I think the point is battle field awareness. If you grab potions from this demigod you will always get poisoned so you avoid them. However this will make you hesitent to pick up a random potion out in an area if you don't know who dropped it.
Of course. I see this now. When Erebus dies, he drops a camouflaged land mine. Very clever. I like this idea even more now.
It's a 100% pure CPU issue - and only upgrading that will fix it.
QFT. The SupCom engine is a major proc-hog. You can have 2 gig ram, and a midrange card, and be ok, with certain limitations, (See Frogboy's post above), but unless you have at least a fairly speedy dual core, you are hosed.
