Well, well.......time for me to throw in my .02 cents.....hehe I have been an avid gamer since..........oh let's just say, since Loderunner was the coolest thing! ;P (not that there were all that many games to be "avidly playing" back then......but you get the point!) What are your system specs? If you don't mind my asking.... ;)
Make sure you have the following: Latest service-pack for your specific OS Working and patched-up version of IE 7 ALL other windows updates! The easiest way is by running Windows Update. Why exactly a person wouldn't be keeping their OS up-to-date (other than it being a pirate version of Windows) I'll never understand. Oh and if you followed some "services-you-don't-need-guide" (like those by BlkViper e
Having your C drive (I'm assuming OS drive) that low on space at any time is idiocy in any case.........proper PC maintenance! ;P
SkyMoLek, Having
" all the port forawdings needed, firewalls turned off, etc "
doesn't guarantee successful connections, especially since as I've posted several times the REAL issue is the level of NAT-filtering being applied to people's connections by Symmetric-NAT modems, routers and or ISP NAT-filtering. <
Monk, have you observed whether Demigod port requirements are properly announced via UPnP? Assuming the router is to spec and SPI is told to back off, is UPnP sufficient? I'm finding it very difficult to evaluate this on my own due to the intermittent problems Stardock is having. Please DO be technical with your answer, if you don't mind and have the time. Thank you!
As I've pos

I've been playing supreme commander with a group of friends since its release, in demigod terms we play "custom" games amongst ourselves that are rather large by supcom standards, usually 6-8 players. For the longest time I could not connect to the weekly game... I tried everything, even plugging my computer directly into my modem after DMZing my machine still d
@ Everyone, As Spooky has pointed out several times now (hehe...thanks Spooky ;) ) the Shields-UP scanner does look for something "listening" for traffic behind said ports. So... It would be advisable to start Demigod, host a custom PASSWORD-protected game (so people don't try joining while you're testing) then alt-tabbing and running the scan, if you're still inclined to use the Shields-UP scanner that is....

Since (as far as I know) the "playername" is also their impulse account name, I should think it fairly easy to maintain at least a mental list of the worst offenders and not play with said individuals? ....at least until we are giving a better option.
I'm just amazed at fanboys that won't speak out about things when companies/people screw up. Sure they need to fix it, that's a bare minimum to avoid a lawsuit.
ShieldsUp! is only testing for open services behind ports and not if a port is open or not. In order to check if a port is open you have to use a tool like Vashan posted.
Spooky, True, I should have clarified. However if Shields-Up is reporting "stealthed" ports then the person can safely assume they're unreachable as opposed to if they're simply reporting them as "closed".

Shouldn't this make all incoming packets to those ports be forwarded to the backend machine regardless of which address or ports those packets were sent from, thus e

Not one single regret here! Call me what you will, Stardock is rapidly establishing themselves as one of the only devs I see myself purchasing from in the future. Devs like Noobi-soft and EA should take a good hard look at what "customer service" means to SD. Of course they wont..... but who's fault is that? Stardock ftw! [e digicons][/e]

It is sad that there is a prevailing attitude of "I want it so I should have it" these days. i've read this debate so far and would like to add my two cents worth. First, "It doesn't hurt anyone" is a naive statement. Of course someone is getting "hurt" even if it is just economically. The problem is economic "hurt" usually ends up hurting the "little guy" the most. I don't know what country Khemintiri lives in, but maybe if people didn't steal music, CD's wouldn't cost $2
