Originally everyone always tried to connect at the same time.... I believe they changed it to a queued system because when everyone was attempting to connect at the same time (and there was a person in the mix with really tight network security) it would stop everyone from connecting.

See, but that actually IS the problem...... When did it become okay to TAKE something when one can't/won't afford to BUY it? Or has it become IF I can't simply TAKE something I want, then I'll evaluate if I can/will afford it? Either way, that is a sad statement about our society and doesn't bode well for our future, period. Forget morality (high-ground etc. etc.), it's bad economics, plain and simple!</

Change their address? I think you're reading the wrong thing....hehe Please read the section regarding (in layman's terms) STRICT, MODERATE, and OPEN NAT-filtering and the various connection issues one will experience with each.

As I pointed out above.... ;) My more GENERIC networking guide: Networking_for_the_Gamer Explains how NAT-filtering affects gaming and gaming-connections in more detail.
boo! yeah...I've got nothing better to say than check here and follow the steps in my guide (linked to from the OP) if you WANT, if you don't want to....then don't. I'm not an "eliteist tech-savvy" person, I am a tech-savvy person who puts information "out there". Take it or leave it.....
FYI, If the ports are showing as "stealthed" then they will drop/reject etc. traffic in most cases. Being "ping-able" is one thing....being open to receiving other traffic is another. Also I'm not sure why your port 16000 is being tested. The only other port (aside from the aforementioned range) should be UDP 6073 (for lobby connections-traffic). The "symmetric NAT" error being reported by gameranger is indicative
Well, no, it's just that I was really on the fence about this game, and had I waited for the demo, it would be too late-- I would already have spent my money on other summer releases that I was already following. I wouldn't have bought this game at all, it would have just been forgotten, really.
So the devs should be thanking your action of pirating it for the resulting sale? Am I the only one to whom this sounds crazy?
Oh good lord. Piracy isn't the end of the damn world. Calm down people. I've pirated stuff, more so in my past than now. I hardly ever pirate things now but ocassionally if the moon strikes me I might grab a song that's catchy but in no damn way worth an entire CD purchase. Bottom line is really, it doesn't matter. Unknown924, Here's some karma for laying it out so everyone who wants to could in fact understand. Unfortunately sometimes people just refuse to understand.... ...nuff said! EDITED: for content...
Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately, your link isn't very helpful, as if I try it on my own connection, it shows that ports aren't open...even though they are. I can host perfectly and join any game. If by "upstream" you mean an ISP related problem, it's not possible, we have the same one. If you mean the modem, then again, same one. What I should do is try to make him remove the router for testing purpos

Here's quoting myself from another thread....
Of course forwarding ports is NOT necessary, the real issue is the strictness of NAT at various points of connection between people. My guide simply makes suggestions (that if followed) will increase the probability of successful connections. It's that simple. Myself and my close circle of friends have all implemented whatever they could implement out of the guide (some routers simply don't have opti

I would think on a real wired-LAN (as in not a VPN-LAN like Hamachi etc.) your ping should be less than 30 even. [e digicons] Anyway, check for HD activity when the ping spikes like that. Could be a loading from drive issue, in which case we would need hardware info from you to make further suggestions.
I'm having the same problem as well. I haven't been able to connect to a single game since the patch and am getting kicked for the first time and not sure why as I seem to be connecting to people. Also, I think I have all the ports forwarded correctly but I sure can't tell using the scanning tool The Monk suggested. I'm not blaming you Monk for this. I just can't figure out if I am reading this stuff right. It says all my TCP ports are on stealth which
Well it was just an educated guess. If your friends have updated, then it's something else. My opinion is that this game has more network problems than simply, "People in foreign countries are having trouble connecting to other people in foreign countries." I would also love to have a paper from Stardock's guy who did the networking saying exactly what people need to do to get it to work. I do appreciate the Monk's work he put into this, but really,

I agree. Pantheon should always be RANDOM. Just look at how WiC's (World in Conflict's) ladder-system was exploited....sigh. Please SD, don't change the Pantheon.
