I'm all for someone (Stardock in this case) creating a less intrusive form of DRM to ween other publishers off of DRM slowly. However, I still will buy DRM free games over DRMed games and usually I'll just end up pirating DRMed games because it's easier. I still don't get how publishers think that DRM (of any kind) serves any purpose. I kind of thought that Stardock had it figured out but it sounds like they will also be using GOO (not just producing it for other less enli

Wow, that was a very detailed response which is much appriciated (and vastly out of the ordinary for a game developer/publisher).
Played a couple matches against Wagnard/Flurus this morning as Oak. First match was Oak + Queen in which we gave up a few kills but only because of mistakes on our part, not because of stun locking or teleport ganking. I think if we would have specced slightly different (more pushing power) we could have at least tied them in the push and then it would have just been a race to giants. In the second game I was Oak again with TB and UB on my team. Again, we gave up sev
I have gotten this before too, though I'm not sure what the repro steps were and I've only seen it a couple times (I may just not rollover fogged flags very often).
In general, Demigods won't chase any creep or Demigod target unless they are specifically told to attack them. However, if you have angels swarming over you your Demigod will tend to chase after them, even though they are the least likely creature you will catch.
Same question here. What does the unpacking entail? A phone home? If I'm not mistaken, they could do some fancy work with a private/public key where your email + authentication code == public key. That way you don't need internet access to unpack your copy of the game and it doesn't need to phone home. However, once unpacked the game would be installed with that e-mail address / authentication code, so any future phone homes (such as when you participate in the online
The TSA and antitheft devices don't follow you home and police what you can and can't have in your house. Tell you who you can or can't talk to or require internet, phone or their presence in your home with access to what they want on demand in order for you to keep what you bought or stay where you went.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that's what the TSA is trying to do...
I Just pre-ordered the game. I know its close to release but will i have access to Beta?
Nope, beta is now closed and pre-orders are for release day.
do you have to activate the game on-line?
I am also curious about the answer to this one. Can I burn the game to CD and install it on a machine without internet access?
There is a small spot just in front of the Fire Torch Bearer where he will fire his fireballs at the target but won't hit and will do no damage. I've seen this several times now, most often when I'm standing up in melee with the creeps and firing at the opposing line of creeps engaged right in front of me.
Normally, holding the control key while clicking on a location will cuse your demigod to move to that location instead of attacking what is under the cursor. This works when mousing over creeps but if you mouse-over an opposing Demigod and control click you will attempt to attack them instead of moving to that location. This is especially problematic for ranged classes with melee spells like fire-mode Torch Bearer because they are unable to easily move to point-blank range of op
However, cracking the GOO'd EXE seems to be less complex than the more overbearing DRM, and pirating intelectual property is still a big issue for many concerned publishers out there.
To date, there is not a single form of copy protection that has stopped crackers from breaking into it. Even hardware solutions like consoles have eventually get cracked. When you want to protect your software from pirating, it's pointless to tr
Again, I think people are missing the point. I know about backdoor teleporting on Crucible. The point is that the game gets to a point where it's physically impossible to kill someone because the enemy regenerates faster than you do damage. I don't think that should be possible.
I think it's acceptable for this to be possible in all game types except for slaughter. In slaughter it will cause big problems but in the rest it just changes how you play the game (strat
It is my understanding that there is a lot of balance work done that we won't see until release so this question was more of a meta-game mental excersize for the beta specifically. I expect that there will be some similar uber strategy come release, but it will be different than what it is now. In a perfect world every strategy will have some counter to it which means as more and more players start doing the new uber strategy then players will start playing the counter more, then
Well, I'm glad at least someone is reading all my Bug posts. :D
The best strategy I can think of to beat a stalemate on Crucible is to have both people buy a warpstone or the warp cloak and simultaneously warp in the back door. If both of them teleport back to block you (and they are fast enough to do it before you flip the flag to at least neutral) then you can teleport back to the front and push (their teleport will be on cooldown which means you can push in a bit while they run back). Alternatively, if they don't react fast enough or only
I'm not a big potion user, but I never pop potions as soon as the cooldown is up, it's just too expensive to play like that. The Universal Gadget takes one slot and it is versitile. If I'm chasing down an opponent that is low on health I can use it to finish them off or if I'm running away I can use it to heal myself or I can use it to heal an ally that is in trouble. Even assuming there was a direct damage item and a heal ally item (which there aren't that I know of) the
The potion can only be used on yourself and only to heal. The Universal gadget can be used to finish off an opponent, heal yourself, or heal an ally. It's the fact that it gives you so many options that makes it less powerful than it's potion counterpart.
I was just in a Pantheon game that had two AIs with the same name (Ashad, both Regulus).
If you die while casting a spell (with a casting bar) the casting bar persists while you are dead.
If you have life drain on attack, swinging at an invulnerable target (Oak shield) will still result in you gaining health on each attack.
In a match with Torch Bearer and Rook have the Torch Bearer take the +15% movement speed ring (should be at 6.9 speed). Ensure Rook has no movement speed buffs (should be at 5.4 speed). With Rook starting in melee range, have Rook run away from Torch Bearer in Frost mode. Tell Torch Bearer to attack Rook as he is running away. Repeat steps 1-4 with Torch Bearer in Fire mode. In step 4 (TB in frost mode) notice how TB will shoot
Get Staff of Renewal and Hammer Slam on Rook. Cast Hammer Slam. When there is about 6.5 seconds left on the cooldown use the staff of renewal. As soon as Hammer Slam is cooled down cast it again. As soon as Hammer Slam is cooled down (should be 5 seconds) cast it again. If timed correctly, the Staff of Renewal buff should end while you are casting the third Hammer Slam. This causes the cooldown on Hammer Slam to go back up
I'm only suggesting it be an option, not a permanate change. There are times when you know one team or the other is better so it would be nice to be able to add AI to balance things out. At the moment though adding an AI is known to be bad for the game overall.
It would be nice if there was a game option that made it so AI controlled Demigods aren't worth any gold when killed. This would effect both AI that replace players and AI added to the game at lobby.
