And backdooring will work with the big maps in this game just like it does in DotA. It won't happen on something like Prison, which is too small to allow that, but it will on all the big ones. And just like in DotA, towers are not a challenge for a group, especially not when you start getting the max ranks of your abilities Oh, and in DotA, if you get beat a lot by the opposite team, you'll be even more behind and they even more ahead, but you can still backdoor. Less theorycr

I've seen it happen in countless DotA games. It'll happen here on the big maps. If the opposing team Demigods al;ways beat you down in combat, but your team can kill towers can creeps fast, wait for them to be at your base and then pound on theirs and beat them to the victory even tough you can't kill them. It forces them to come back to defend, at which point you pull out. So it either turns into a turtle match, or a race to destroy the opposite base with no combat.</p

I do agree some backdoor prevention is important, or else games turn into races to see who destroys who's towers fastest without any demigod vs demigod combat.

Here's an interesting idea: Why does there need to be a definite difference between Generals and Assassins? Why can't we get the full spectrum, with Demigods focues only on combat, mainly on combat and some buffs, a mix of both, mainly buffs and some combat, and almost just buffs with very little combat? Think of Rook's Power of the Tower, it's a General-like ability. Same with Torch Bearer's Auras. Taking these things into account, Rook and Torch are half Generals, Hal

I posted something along the lines of this, in that Generals as they are right now are assassins with creep adds. Which isn't a bad thing - it fits in with the DotA model, but isn't as interesting as it could be. I have a few suggestions that would increase the difference between generals and assassins but keep the same gameplay, more or less. Different citadel upgrades for Generals and Assassins. Assassins would focus on gen

Towers are really important in game right now. Letting generals buy an item that would repair a destroyed tower / fix a damaged tower would be one way to give the RTS building control aspect while still have the play itself be in-your-face action.
In my experience, that's not the only problem with the torch bearer. In ice form he kinda sucks late game IMO. Yes, he can AoE mobs awesomely, but he has no single target damage which makes him lose pretty badly to most heroes late game. Even generals.
He's great when playing as a team tough, between the slow and nova, no one can escape.
I also agree that you should go all fire or all ice. I hate switching back and forth.
I'm actually saying the reverse. You should be able to mix Fire and Ice without gimping yourself compared to pure fire or pure ice, because otherwise it really cuts down on possible Torch Bearer builds.

Outside of stunlocks, which are just plain overpowered and will get fixed, Erebus is a very potent fighter. He's got abilities that deal damage as good as any Assassin, his vampire bite is very powerful as it strenghtens you as it weakens your enemy, he can use his mist to wait for the cooldown of his batswarn to flee combat, and his pets allow him to rack up cash very quickly. If anything it feels like the vampire lord is a better assassin than assassins, and he has pe

They're pretty much just assassins with pets. Hell you can play them exactly like Assassins. Lord Erebus especially is a very potent fighter, more so than some of the assassin demigods. Generals are nothing really new or special from the various DotA heros with pets: Undying, Keeper of the Light etc etc... They need more ways to affect the battle other than wading in and kicking ass. Normaly the player in an RTS is a "General" because he can contr

Torchbearer is a powerfull Demigod. But he doesn't have any variety of builds. With the extra ranks of each ability and the way skill progression has been changed, it's become harder and harder to make a Torchbearer that can dip into both Frost and Fire spells efficiently. The animation of switching from one to the other doesn't help this either. Right now it feels like Torchbearer should either go all fire, or all frost, and put remaining points
The DoTA community is one that I quite despise. It came to be like that partly as self defense against leavers and other poor etiquette players. However, elitism was also a very strong factor. Because of this, I kept my distance from it when I could. I see the pattern repeat all the time. Members of the community who are more active, or post long guides that later become sticked often become self-appointed kings of the forums and

last hits and denies wouldn't work in this game. I think all of you arguing about it need to go play a skirmish right now and pick Torch Bearer for it. Now put points into Ice Storm. Now use Ice Storm. See how it kills a full group of creeps? Ok maybe not at level one, but at 2 or 3. This game isn't dota. Right off the bat you can build Torch Bearer to be able to spam ice storm every cooldown andwith a last hit mechanic, he would be reaping a dozen time the gold

This system is based on DotA recipes system which exists for the purpose of allowing a player to get cheap early game items and then combine them together to open up inventory space and make them into more powerful end game item. It's a good system because otherwise players would more often save up a ton of money to get the "best" items right away without spending money on weaker items. This leads to an all-or-nothing item game that really isn't that fun. The problem with the DotA ite

That sounds like a good idea too. Basically you can't go wrong with more options. Though that's probably not true... If there's too many game modes it'll spread the players around too much - sorta like what happens with DotA when new heros come out, everyone plays games where they can pick their heros, so I'm crying while I wait 15 minutes for a random pick game D:
