Strangely enough, I'm of the opinion that it's easier to stay alive as Generals.
I totally agree with you. Assassins have very little in the way of defensive abilities. I find they're much harder to keep alive than generals. Sedna and QoT have it easy when it comes to survivability. Heal and brambles make them virtually unkillable if they're played well. Definitely the two hardest DG's in the game to kill. Erebus is awesome with a c

All the generals have great responses to this. Oak's shield, Sedna's heal, and QoT's brambles can all block or negate a coordinated snipe. All these abilities can target a friendly demigod and can be used to interrupted this combo quite effectively. Erebus can also turn into mist form to avoid this concentrated fire if he anticipates it. I think it's the assassins that have trouble, and in fact I've found the assassins to be very lacking when the other team has a coo

I'm not saying that I don't pick up teleport scrolls; I never said that at all! The only time I don't pick them up at the start of the game is if I lead with a monk idol. What I'm saying is that they don't stop you from dying because they'll just be interrupted.

Play as Oak and shield before you use your teleport scroll. Problem solved. Seriously, though teleport scrolls are dirt cheap. They cost 250 a piece; you can't expect something that cheap to be a "get out of jail free card". No one of reasonable skill would ever die. They'd be brutally overpowered if you couldn't interrupt them. There are lots of ways to get around interrupts which have already been discussed.

Crucible? Yeah, Rook can be brutal in the mid-game on Crucible, but in 1v1 he's screwed. There's an absolutely critical gold mine flag on this map. If Rook tries to lumber down and claim it, he WILL be killed. As a result, the other player will own it by default. This is a huge gold advantage, and if Rook cannot push very early he's going to die simply to a combination of war score and income advantage that the other player has.

1v1 against Rook? Personally I think Rook is the weakest DG in 1v1 by far. He's very easy to kill if he's not near his tower farm, so at most he can only control one flag, giving you free control over the rest. Rook is one of my primary characters, and I can tell you that above all he's a defender. He's no good at flag capturing or hunting down other demigods. He's about pushing and preventing the enemy from pushing. On its own, that won't

This map is giving me a lot of trouble. Victory hinges on that gold mine flag, but I keep feeling like certain demigods don't have a hope in hell of actually capturing that flag. The key problem is that the flag is so far away from the towers and mobs. If you have to run while you're out there, it's a LONG way back, and if an enemy demigod moves faster than you it's basically a death sentence. That forces you to use teleport scrolls, but that's not a solution, either.&

I think you're somewhat screwed as Rook in 1v1. Rook is really vulnerable until he reaches level 4 and can make a proper tower farm, and while he's slowly lumber around he's easy prey to a fast hero like Erebus which can snag flags and whittle away his health. In 1v1, I always play with a general. The assassins just don't seem well suited to controlling the entire battlefield like a general can, which is what you need in 1v1.

There are two basic approaches to killing Sedna. The first is to run her out of mana, the second is to damage/stun spike her so she can't heal herself. If you don't have the capacity to do either, you cannot kill Sedna and you shouldn't even bother trying.

A lot of people go crazy about items, but in reality citadel upgrades are a much better investment. The only stand-out items at a high cost level are heart of life and maybe mage slayer depending on your DG. Other than those two exceptions, I rarely touch items above 2k in cost until I have well rounded citadel upgrades. Allies that don't put a penny into citadel upgrades are among the worst kind. You can come back from a death-streak if you play well enough in the mid

The trebuchet is a must-have. Poison arrows is something you can get if you want, but it's not necessary. However, I've had several games where the turning point is a level 8 rook that gets his trebuchet. The tower of light is an invaluable extra attack. Curiously, I've had countless kills where an enemy with 50 or so hit points is running away, and the final blow is dealt by my arrow towers. They're very useful for dealing that last pinch of damage to a retreati

I frankly think replacing dropped players with AI's is unacceptable to begin with. The lower AI difficulties will always be inferior to a reasonable human player, and the higher AI difficulties cheat. Introducing either into a multiplayer match is simply bad for gameplay. Adding to your list of AI issues, however, I think evaluating escape routes is important. I once saw an AI attempt to escape by running past Erebus (bite/stun equipped) and Rook (hamm

Using minions independently is invaluable, especially against a Regulus who uses mines. Send in one guy to detonate them, then charge. The system could be improved, but automation is not the answer here.

I don't think idols or consumables could work with this system. They don't work like other kinds of items, and because there isn't much alternative selection to begin with this would just drive up their prices needlessly. On the other hand, I think some items like Heart of Life could really benefit from this. There are lots of clearly underpriced and overpriced items, and something needs to be done to bring them into line. Heart of Life is just a steal for 4250; it cou
I'd be fine with a bunch of flags on a flat slate if it meant new stuff.
Some basic building blocks, flags and structures, as well as a lane planner is all that would be needed. Maybe customized background choices, too.

UB is extremely dangerous if he gets enough gold. Once he's strong enough that he can just run up to you and attack you without worrying about towers or other demigods supporting you, the game is pretty much over since he can just run up and kill you with impunity. Also, teleport is a poor idea against most beasts, because even one level in foul grasp can negate it. Basically, the moral of the story is that if you allow the other team to get a decisive gold advantage, you'

You could have solved this problem with capture locks. On the other hand, the other team could have made this far more dangerous by using capture locks. Also teleport scrolls are a must.

I've recently been playing around with an "oozer" beast. Ooze kills enemy demigod DPS and deals huge amounts of damage in the melee, making it a great skill from start to finish. First skill, you still want spit. This deals great damage, it scares off some of the "squishy" demigods like Regulus that might otherwise give you trouble, and gives you at least one ranged attack if you need to make a killing blow against a 200 HP demigod. However, we will not add any more

For your Regulus problem, I think your best bet would be to combine unclean beast (foul grasp and ooze specced) with another demigod with a stun. Ooze reduces regulus' attack speed, plus foul grasp prevents him from attacking. Combine with a stun and significantly high DPS and you can smack down regulus quite nicely. What time he isn't stunned he'll be under the effect of ooze and have reduced attack speed. That said, I tend to agree that IAS + life steal gets insane

You get no favour if you quit, but seeing as the losing team usually gets only 10 favour, and the winning team can often average over 100, this isn't a big penalty at all. There are lots of reasons people quit before the game is up. Honestly, the rage-quitters are annoying and immature. Play singleplayer if you cannot live with yourself if you're on the losing end of first blood. For my part, my ISP drops me frequently when I have a P2P application goi

Totally agree; by the time you hit level 20 most of the direct damage spells are already barely worth their mana, and once the high level artifacts start coming they're altogether worthless if they don't have an instant casting time.

I remember my brother cursing and swearing about the unclean beast, and how he was killing him over and over again. So I sit down and watch him play. He didn't bring potions to battle, he didn't carry teleport scrolls, and most certainly he hadn't invested in any defense bonus items. Unclean Beast really demands potions early on, since spit can whittle down a level 1 or 2 demigod very quickly. The thing is, the beast will run out of mana if you heal between his spits
