Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm not sure I can even begin to understand the "port forwarding" concept How does Impulse Reactor fit into the scheme of things ? Is it a seperate program I need to install ?
If you've played Warcraft 3 online through Battle.net before, the analogy is there. Demigod is the game, while Impulse is the match-making service (to allow players t

I was planning to just paste the wikipedia link to port forwarding but I doubt that would explain much as it still uses quite a lot of jargon. I took this bit from the article as I think it summarise the need for port forwarding quite well:
"In a typical home networking setup, internet access is through a DSL or Cable modem. That modem may be connected to a router, which is then connected to the networked computers by Ethernet or WiFi. The router is th

To balance this out with Unclean Beast's spit, perhaps a structure under Uproot would be "entangled" and thus disabled. Towers and Forts wouldn't be able to fire. Trebuchets on them would be disabled as well. This disabling effect on the tower would allow Queen of Thorns to go in and attack the tower at the same time, or serve to disable a tower for the team for the duration of the Uproot. Alternatively, and this was suggested before, make Uproot an AoE spell. This would have to be ba
I think some people are misunderstanding what "build" means in this context. Of *course* they are situational and not meant to be viewed as static. That doesn't mean there isn't a benefit in documenting and understanding opening moves in order to appreciate why certain moves are good and others are bad. Just like in chess, there are well understood chess openings that are documented and copied. The best chess players know that games are fluid and

No software is perfect. If you put a deadline on software engineering on as complex a platform as the PC, let alone multiplayer, you're going to get the product as good as that deadline would allow. Moreover, games are one of the most complex of software to develop. Put it all together, you'll always get a far less than perfect game on release. That's what patches are for, to fix the issues they could not prior to release. Also, not everyone has the resources to maintain a continuousl

I, too, was from the Dota club. I'm not having any trouble seeing the differences between each and appreciating each for its own merits. Some mechanics in Demigod leaves me puzzled: 1) No creep collision results in chasing down to who has stun/slow abilities and who runs faster. 2) Reinforcements are little help when defending against an aggressive demigod. In Dota, the entire allied creep wave attacks the enemy demigod when he/she attacks yours. 3) Some spells are odd

Yo, I've already sent a request to have you on my friend's list, you too 8BBQ8. Hope to see you dudes online soon! Oh regarding Citizen Kane: I once took a course in uni concerning the study of film. Citizen Kane was once of those case study movies. It was apparently the movie where many new camera techniques, that we now take for granted, were used.

With no collision with reinforcements nor demigods and the ability to attack while moving, it already IS impossible to escape (unless sometimes into friendly tower clusters) if the escapee has equal or lower speed than the aggressor. This is one area where gameplay cannot comply with realism.

It might just get popular with Singaporeans. Frogboy did make a post suggesting a Singapore server. Perhaps when the multiplayer debacle is over, we'll all be playing with our own countrymen with good pings.

Just fixed my post. I forgot to mentioned that I'm playing with my friends online in custom games. chanbrothers, I bought it from Tec-Drome Pte Ltd at Sim Lim Square. See here if you need help getting there: http://www.simlimsquare.com.sg/stores_floor/l5?page=5 Be warned though, since it's an import, the prices are about SGD$75. I bought four copies together with my friends and got a goodwill discount such that each copy became SGD$68. Don

I'm playing mostly Skirmish and online custom. One problem - I've updated with the beta patch, so if we wish to play together you'll need that too. Alternatively, we could wait for the patch to be official. One of my Demigod buddies tried Pantheon and ended up with bots most of the time. I don't think we would be able to find enough players before Demigod official launches here on 15th May. Also, I think Frogboy mentioned that they have servers in Singapore. I'll add you to my

I'm from Singapore too. Bought the game from a games store; they had a batch imported in. I've been having a blast with some friends every day since. There are numerous nuances that kill some of the game for us but it's pretty good still. Hopeful for the future balance and content patches to come. What's your nick online btw?
I agree... it's so annoying trying to cast shield on yourself as Oak in a wave of creeps. Too confusing and can often times result in stupid deaths all because you couldnt find your demigod in the field of battle. Yes you can see his shape but, uh, when you're fighting Giants its hard to make out Oak.
You can hold on to "Ctrl" and that will filter off creeps from your spell target selection. Even if many Demigods are clustered, y

I bought it two days ago and have been hopelessly addicted since. Sure, lots of nuances to complain about but the potential long term support promised by Stardocks has been tingling with what Demigod can become. I had a marathon series of 2v2 matches with some friends yesterday till my eyes were red from exhaustion haha. Make sure you update your copy!

I'm with those in favour of this "tactical interrupt" since what's in place now is exactly how the Warcraft 3 engine worked. I say this from a Dota background. When a spell is cast, its cool down kicks in, whether that cast attempt was interrupted or not is irrelevant. The fact remains that you've committed the mana, and started the cooldown. There are many skills in Dota that has a mini-stun effect of a tiny faction of a second just so that they may be used to interrupt casting or ch

How about making the HoL carry only a fixed number of charges. The holder has to "top up" the charges by taking the heart back to the healing crystal in the base.
