Brad what is the name of your cleaning lady?

Well with good I obviously mean music that people like because they truly enjoy it, not becaues they are made to believe they should like it because MTV says it's the next big pop diva or whatever. Mainstream isnt' a bad thing per sé. If it's mainstream because a lot of people genuinely like it then there's nothing bad about it. If it's mainstream because it's the same as all the other music around, then probably it is a bad thing, but that's a case of semantics. I do n
For music I'm thinking cut out the middle man almost entirely. Now employees in the music business will argue that record lables are needed to pay for recording and marketing. While that may be true, if you cut them out what will remain are bands with nothing, except potential to grow. What is the positive side to all this? Only bands that are truly good get the mouth-to-mouth PR they need to grow, expand, become known world-wide (and filthy rich :p). That means only music we like becomes big
Hmm over here the price has dropped from €42 to €33. Are you sure you're not just looking at the wrong site to get the game in the first place? Some shops still offer the game for €50 here, which is too high even for a launch price.
You lost me at "unnoob".
Why is that a bad thing? :)
np, I know people on the internet usually aren't that honest. For instance, I know you're not really a water melon. [e digicons]>_>[/e]
Well they are my friends and I can actually look at their shelve to see the games they own. Ironically the ones that have an Xbox actually buy most of their games for the console, not for the PC.
Hmm perhaps. Most people I talk to about it are the honest kind though, as am I believe it or not, but then again the "ZOMG i leeeeched 2TB!!1!one today 4 frEe pwnzorz!!" are usually not the kind to go into discussion about it :p
Hahaha funny man [e digicons]:D[/e] Actually (bit offtopic) trailers are starting to annoy me more and more. Back in the old days when you downloaded a trailer you actually saw something of the game. Nowadays you only get CGI enhanced heart attack inducing promo shots accompanied by terms like "photo realism" and "ground breaking gameplay" and "innovative" without acually showing you any of it. Same with movie trailers, especially comedies. You watch a trailer full of jokes an
Just because a game gets downloaded a million time doesn't mean that these million people would have bought the game otherwise. A small percentage, perhaps, but not all. Mostly filesharing enables people to enjoy a product they'd never have considered otherwise.Exactly. They shouldn't enjoy it if they don't buy it, period!
..and people won't buy it unless they know they'll enjoy it. Catch 22? ;)
256 MB/s you wish. That kind of defies the definition of gigabit :p But it still takes a lot of time to compress 65GB, so what is the advantage to gain here? Unless you can compress on the fly, but I'm not sure if I could do that.
You dont use torrents everywhere do you now.
Maybe not but I cannot for the life of me remember when the last time was I had a corrupted download. Sure, a year of 4 back my RAM was broken, but then again so where the rar chunks, sfv files and everything else, so partitioning didn't help either. The only time I can remember having to deal with it on a regular basis was back when I used a 56k, and connections were dropped reg
That's why I bought it via digital download from Stardock themselves :) Current currency calculations. It only cost me €30 at launch time.
Because the releases consists of small parts you don't have to worry about re-downloading the whole release if something goes wrong and a file gets corrupted. You can control that everything has been downloaded correctly by checking against the SFV-file. Hence you will always know whether you've gotten a complete uncorrupt release of what you were downloading. This means that you will have the exact same files on

Different question for you all: who still compresses files anyway? I only use compression tools to make one big file of things (it's called Store mode in WinRAR). Wether some files end up being 100 MB or 120 MB I couldn't care less, compressing big files like movies and games is useless anyway because they are already internally compressed and I don't need a couple of MBs less when sending them to friends because my internet is fast enough to not care. Who here still really needs it a
LOL I haven't bought WinRAR but haven't seen a nag screen in my life. And no I don't use a crack [e digicons][/e]
I'm not saying piracy is not to blaim, but it would be more honest to say "hey, consoles have less piracy plus we also get more money" instead of the usual "boo-hoo piracy is forcing us to make console games only". I however expect the whole TV/games/mediacentre experience to end up in one system standing in the living room. Consoles already go quite a bit down that road, and I assume that in about 15 years if you want to play a game you have to do it on your 'home entertainment system', whil
What 99% of the kids like about it: it gives them attention.
I agree with everything except piracy. It certainly is a factor but also a very very easy scapegoat for developers to drop PC support. Just blame it on the bad guys and save face. Many studios just prefer to develope for a certain console because it is easier (in the long run, once you got a console down you're set) and has higher profit margines.
Well WinRAR has a sweet spot position at the moment, because between the low compression, high compatibility ZIP format and the high compression, low compatibility 7ZIP WinRAR is in between. However it has an above average compression ratio and an above average compatiblity. And by that I mean which programs support the format and how many home users actually know how to open them. However if you want to go for the highest compression, or the highest compatibility then the corresponding choic
Talk down on DirectX all you want, but without it the gaming world wouldn't be where it is today. Just as Windows brought the PC into our homes. Now most of you will probably respond "yeah and it sucks, wish it wouldn't exist" but then we'd still be freeing up our RAM manually and use a command line interface. PC gaming isn't dead, the studios making games make us think that so that we all buy a console and console games, on which they make more money. It's the one thing they all care
By the standard of today's laws, "piracy" is illegal - end of story.
Piracy is, copyright infringement - as defined by the USA for instance - is not necessarily. In the Netherlands for instance it's legal to download a song, just as long as it is for personal use. By USA laws it is not (correct me if I'm wrong). Which also makes this whole piracy thing a massive grey area. Actually I think they should invent a new color just to
