Personally, I joined the DG community with the release of the demo - as I suspect many others did as well. I have been loving it ever since. I also haven't had trouble finding games to play, although finding *competitive* (equally matched) games is much more difficult. I do believe that with some tweaks to Custom Games that allow players to engage in their own match-making, many who may have briefly turned away from DG due to initial bad experiences will return. Love the player notes idea. Also very excited by your posting of replay pics: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/363906 I foresee hours of entertainment ensuing. Will SD be hosting replays, or will we be going to GameReplays?

Reply to Armor vs. HP in Demigod

I found Obscenitor's reply above incredibly insightful, and not just for the Life-Steal mention. I don't think it makes sense (totally) to say that stacking HP is ALWAYS your best option. It depends on the map, your DG build, and your opponents' DG's. I am far from an expert player, and so I don't completely grasp the implications of these variables, but I understand they exist. If there's a UB and Reg on the opposite team going full DPS on me, Armor suddenly becomes m

Hey Aiyen -- There are some other threads out there about AI issues, for example: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/362706 I think the best thing we, as players, can do now is provide very specific feedback about particular AI issues (Rook pathfinding has been lamented by many). Hopefully, GPG will continue to support the game and release periodic fixes and updates that increasingly address these issues.
Personally, I think it should be the other way around. Get rid of Parthenon. I don't really like the arbitrary division of teams, and Skirmish allows truly random games. But, yes, I think one or the other needs to go, they just aren't popular enough.
After having played a number of pantheon games recently, I agree with abh. The arbitrary division of teams is contributing to a flawed play exper

I think you make some interesting points here. Absolutely, I agree with you that there remain balance issues with the game. Certain demigods (Rook, QoT) need some buffs and many items need slight adjustments (lower cost, stronger effects) to make them more valuable and competitive. Just as a quick example: I can look at the Armor items and see a use for every single one. In fact, I think I've used all of them at one point or another in various games and t

lots of great ideas in this post/thread. hope many are instantiated in 1.2. i absoutely love this game right now, but i do think that many items are being avoided because they just aren't good enough, or are too expensive. slight balancing would really open to the door to so many more item builds. as is, there are certain items that are good for virtually every build.

Hey all! Thanks for the responses I received - we've slowly been building our group into something qutie nice and douchebag-free. The last few games we've played have been close, fun and competitive. For those of you who have shown up but haven't found our game, PLEASE add me as a friend (via impulse) and/or JOIN our VENT server (I can pm you the info). It makes coordinating much easier, and then you don't have to show up right at 9pm. Cheers. <p
If you're going to do it "by the numbers", you need to use probability/statistics to calculate how often Blade's proc is active, not just assume it's going to be on 5 seconds in a 10 second period.
Sigh... Ok, the cumulative probability of getting (at least) one single trigger out of 7 attacks (in a 10 sec period) is 68%. You have a 99% chance of triggering the effect in 30 attacks. Regardless, m

I've only recently been experimenting with different UB builds lately, so forgive me if all this has been posted before. While this analysis of favor items doesn't apply only to UB, he was the inspiration for it. I was curious about the relative value of Mard's Hammer and Furious Blade, two assassin favor items that increase damage output in different ways. Mard's Hammer: +40 weapon damage, +5% attack speed Furious Blade: +100 health, +5% attack speed,

So I think everyone can agree that there's a certain online player element that periodically makes DG a less than stellar gaming environment. And I understand that this happens in virtually every online game. However, in DG it is unsettling since players seem to get particularly incensed about bad players on their team. Rudeness and bad sportsmanship are rampant. How about having a Karma system, like the one in the forums, in the actual game? This way, helpful/
turned off reverb and lowered it to medium quality.
QFT. This helped me immensely - and one other thing: I changed my speaker settings to stereo headphone instead of 4.1 surround. You may have to do this through the Windows Control Panel, "Sounds, Speech & Audio Devices" - change from Quadrophonic to stereo headphone.

There are many reasons why it is worth our time (and GPG's) to continue thinking about AI routines. 1. If modding AI becomes a possibility, this kind of feedback will help modders make targeted improvements. 2. Many people continue to suffer from connection problems, ping spiking, etc. and any improvements to the single-player experience would be welcome to these folk. 3. New players begin with the single player experience, and a more challengin

More to the point of the OP... The AI's have often chased me into a tower trap, making it easy for me to drink an HP potion and quickly kill them. I have also seen AI's commit suicide by trying to knock towers down/capture enemy flags (the gold flags on Cataract, esp.). They don't turn tail fast enough. I have the sense (though I don't know) that AI's pick items pretty well. They seem to overspend a bit on certain Citadel upgrades (going for Level 2 and 3 o

This is a complicated issue. It seems to me that Skirmish was orginally intended to serve as the primary "match-making" engine, whereby players of a similar skill level could play against each other quickly and easily. I like that idea, in theory. I'm not sure why players didn't take to it, but as it stands now, so few players use Skirmish that if you try to get into a Skirmish game, you'll likely to be fighting AI opponents and/or have AI teammates. It is possible t
So - there's my suggestion - include total games played, rank, win/loss ratio, and a Play Together column that uses the logic I describe above.
What Pacov said. It sounds like SD are trying to take some initiative here (and help out GPG) by incorpoating this info in the connection dialog. A clever idea, and I think it would work fine since this info is easily available in the game lobby. And, really, if all we got (for now) was total games p

I recently posted this: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/362095 ...looking for some casual teammates who didn't care about winning/losing (too much) and just wanted to have some good times. Cosmoe -- I feel your pain, but one temporary work-around for this is just to play with friends and people you know. I've been trying to organize a casual play-group (password-protected) so that we don't need to worry about rage-quitters and cheating. Just a suggestion. -- NAc

I believe this issue is in the "to-do" list pinned above, but I wanted to mention that I also am experiecing it. After logging into multiplayer, I am getting a reappearing chat tab from a friend with no message in it. If I close the chat box, the tab will reappear in a couple minutes. It is getting a bit annoying, unfortunately, as it occurs while I'm playing. -- NAc
When activated, this would simply randomize the side that each player is on after the game starts (so the side on which each player was in the game lobby simply does not count). Premades would risk getting in opposite teams and thus not want to join such games. A slight problem would be multiple same Demigods on one side, which should not be forbidden by the randomizer!
Also love this idea. Hope it gets implemented!
