Reply to Problem with accepting tribute demands in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

There is a bug in how the AI sees your bank account. If you look at your stats screen it will show that you are first in treasury, and the graph screen will be off the chart. The AI thinks you have a ton of cash, and will continue to demand tribute when you are actually broke. The more your debt grows, the worse the situation becomes. This need to be fixed, because I am big into early deficit spending! DblDamage

Are you guys (and gals) at Stardock still looking into this? I'm big into deficit spending, and the Arceans keep demanding huge amounts of cash I don't have. They are akin to the Universal Collection Agency! If I refuse, relations plummit. If I accept, it makes matters worse because they think I have even more money than I did before. Maybe Brad could take a look at this. I have -454bc. I am in contact with the other races, and they have more cash reserves than I do. I am ranked first in Treasury. ???? The thing that concerns me though, is that the Arceans contact me every few turns demanding between 450bc - 650bc in a lump sum. Don't they know that you can't get blood from a turnip? ver. 1.03 DblDamage

Verenti, I have been trying to keep things light. I didn’t want to get in to this, but here goes: I disagree with your assessment that conservatives are opposed to change. George Bush wanted to change the Iraqi regime, and it looks like that will happen. Ronald Reagan’s policies helped bring down the Soviet Union. In my opinion, the US now has to deal with all the problems that were allowed to grow and fester during the eight years of neglect in the previous administration.

I would love to be able to leave a marker, beacon, or buoy, next to resources to mark their locations in the early game. Sensors just aren't strong enough at that point and it's easy to forget their locations (especially in saved games). DblDamage

In my experiences (which are fairly limited), it seems that some of the races, most notably the Drengin, have such a rush to build their military quickly that it drains their cash flow and they are forced to slow down and build some social improvements to pay for all their shiny new hardware. They also have to take the time to research the tech that makes those improvements possible. Or, I could just be an idiot. :p DblDamage

I guess I would like to see maintenance costs for Starbases and modules. I don't care about the mass building of Starbases in a sector. I would like to see a limit of 1 module addition per Starbase per turn to slow down the rush building of Terror stars and Party stars. It's a strategy game. You should have to defend your constuctors while they are building. It will also give the A.I. more time to react to what you are doing. My 2 cents. DblDamage
