Maybe you could try using sensor drones or constrictors.

Code Monkey wrote "...One of the things that I have seen with just about every strat game in the past decade is some vocal group whining about how the game designer is responsible for stopping their mouse hand from acting of its volition..." Except we're competing for score on Metaverse.
Advise the number of turns remaining and (optionally) the tech being researched on the same page as the research slider bar. Up date 'on the fly' as you change the research % on the slider bar. The human player has to play at a big resource disadvantage or go back and forth among several screen to optimize these slider bars.
In both games I have played the 3rd square below the upper left hand corner of the map is always revealed even though I never explored there. I've noticed this after reloading the saved game.
I've got 1.02.41, so I'm reasonably up to date. On reload my influence is 111 and theirs in 329. After a few turns mine goes up to 1000+ and theirs is still 329. It's my planet with the skull and crossbones.
I guess I don't understand how a PQ13 upgraded to PQ15 can hurt your economy. But if it's true, then another valid reason for settling PQ13's is to make them in AI sectors. Then, let the AI's natural cultural influence take it away from you and saddle IT with a poor planet.
Thank you, but it's not practical for me to leave my computer on all the time. Otherwise, every time I load the game I risk losing a planet. :sniff!:
I think there should be limits on the number of starbases you can build as well as the number of modules per starbase. These can be increased with new tech, UP votes etc. I don't see why there are limits on trade routes, but no limits on starbases.
I'm trying to culture bomb a Torian planet. So I built 3 starbases with +60% cultural influence, I also have a planet in the sector with culture influence of 1 with an embassy. When I quit the game I had influence in the sector of over 1000 points to the Torian 329. When I resumed the game, my influence was only about 100 and it was my planet that was in a 'secessionist' mood! A turn later my influence was back over 1000. Probably, the 100 is the correct figure, now that I think about it. T
Who needs espionage? If I want to know the military force of another empire, just go to the trade screen and it lists ALL the ships. Perhaps, it should list only the available type, but not necessarily each one.
I've spent enough on espionage so that I get messages about the Drengin Empire. Always the message is Drengin is at war with xxx. But there is no war, anywhere. (I have enough sensors to watch everything on the small map.) Also, I licensed aprhodisiac to the Drengin, but their ability is +26%. Shouldn't it be at least 30%?
What is the "propaganda slider"? Is it individual for each planet? or are talking about adjusting the tax rate on the econ screen to get a decent approval %?
Is there any way to freeze one, so I can adjust the other two. For example, I may want to increase military while leaving research fixed. Is it possible?
How about every time you develop a new tech and option to "shop it" appears. When you click on "shop it", every race you know makes their best offer for it. Simply click on the one's you want to accept and be done with it. It's really tedious to have to go and contact every race and make an offer to sell one by one. An alternative can be "trade it" where the AI offers tech for tech plus cash on one side or the other.
So, basically, influence points are your votes at the next UP meeting? Do you get them back after that meeting? Or, once sold, then gone forever?
I'd be happy if there were no defaults. I.E. 100 and 0. I always have to type 10 delete delete delete, to eliminate the 100. Just get rid of defaults, or at least make the default the last thing typed.
What does "kill route" mean? Let's press it and find out! Duh, there goes a trade route! OK, I suppose I know that now... but an "Are you sure?" might be nice there.
IIRC, the purpose of the metaverse is to find out the strategies the human uses to defeat the AI. Then to try to adapt those same strategies for the AI to use against us in a future update. If players begin to alter their game to achieve some artificial "score", then the goal of improving the AI will be thwarted. Isn't it enough to say that "I beat the game on genius level!" regardless of the "score"?
It seems fair to me that players with the most time to spend on the game should garner the highest score.
When I launch a colony ship, it automatically takes half the population of the planet with it. Is there a way to control that? If I can't find a planet to colonize, how do I unload the colonists back to some other planet I own?
You are saying it's a one time fee? Does every player with the license get the bonus/benefit? Can it be licensed to every player?
Is this still the typical experience for downloading the game? It sure seems like a lot of trouble.
I'd like to read the manual to, but that one in the Encyclopedia is 6 months out of date.
I'd like to buy the game at retail to get the printed manual, but I'd also need to download the game, because my CD drive is broke. What are my options?
