I agree with Aadik. We play for the fun of it. Hell, I have to balance my SimCity 4 play time as well!! But it's nice to see that we are doing well enough to be in the rankings! :)

Aadik, Yeah...once you finish them (under the latest patch) it will save an endgame right before submission. Then just load it, hit turn and bamn! Also, save right before you think you will win and then play it until you win and it should ask you to submit! :)
Yeah! I saw that yesterday! And I have one more game about complete. Probably another 4000 points! I should have that posted tomorrow after I finish it on the plane tomorrow afternoon! Wicked! :D
Well, to be honest...I travel too much. And I play the game on the airplanes, in the airport, and in the hotels. Now, I do switch between games every so often, but I could stick to a game for quite some time. Gigantic usually keeps me busy, and the AI is quite good that it gives me a solid run for my money. I just thought a map that took many game years to cross would be interesting! :)
This may have already been asked. Will there every be an expansion to the game that provides even larger galaxies? I know this would make the game turns and loading more processor intensive, but the games could last for months! :)
Interesting! I'll have to give this a go! ;)
I hope it is a sneak attack. That would be great AI coding!
Is that a bug or are the Yor 'messing' with you? Perhaps you aren't holding enough military standing for them to be concerned, and the peace treaty with technology is simply a way of them getting the most out of a situation! Build up a large military and start hitting them back. No need to invade, just destroy their defenses. It'll change their tune! :)
Once I get a bit better, I think I'll start trying the other parties for some change. But right now, I have some work to do on beating the more intelligent AIs. Hell, just surviving! ;)
It's updated.
Interesting. Perhaps it is when the AI is less intelligent and this is a mechanism to aid the players against the AI (to create an illusion of less intelligence). Unsure. I just haven't seen a Ranger in a long while and Universalists have a luck bonus! It would be great to get one in one of my games. I need to teach the Arceans who's boss!!! LOL
Silent Fires, What are the intelligence settings of your alien races? I'm curious if such a scenario will always be possible at the higher settings? :D
I think I'm going to have a few glasses of Chianti in Little Italy in Baltimore this evening! That is, IF my flight gets in with all the rain we are having here on the East Coast (US). :D
Yeah...military tends to be something I build anyway. It's usually the money making that I'm concerned about. By the way, does adding luck truly make it more likely to find Rangers? Is that the only type of luck that is present? I might have to give that a go! :D
Obsolete ships! Nice one! I'm going to give that a go this weekend! :D
I play mostly Universalist. I bump up my population growth and economy. That seems to be a good fit for my playing style. I may bump up military in some future games to experiment, but I'm working on finishing a couple in progress first! :)
Peter, Minors can be milked. If you can keep your technology a bit ahead of theirs, you can offer them your newest techs for BC at month intervals. This usually keeps them at bay as they can't front a decent military. I've tried doing it by attacking them first, which also works but the monetary potential isn't quite the same at first (until the colony/colonies exist under your control for some time). I've also ignored them and had decent battles late game taking them out. It reall
Perhaps I will start using transports for this. I usually only do this when I realize my cash flow isn't where I want and the social improvements of a colony aren't bringing it into the black!
Not bad at all!
I may be way off base, but I read there can be something like 25 minors. Anyone else see that?
Thanks Northwest! In my haste I forgot to post the link! :D
Well, you can already just 'start' a new galaxy! ;)
Is there a penalty (besides losing people and perhaps moral standing) for destroying a colony? I'm looking for other ways to cut dead weight off of a heavy empire! Thanks! LOL
Great Wakka, Some of your questions are address in the PDF guide, so take a look at that! I think it'll help you out a great deal! P.S. - The Drengin don't always start out in a great location...though mathematically it is possible you are starting in a worse location every game you've played! :)
[quote]I do the opposite. I sell stuff to the nearby minor early on to finance my growth (including selling them a colony so they colonise a second sector). I only charge them enough to pay for my needs so they can finance a fleet and pay for their improvements. Then I trade with them and give them techs so they get very powerful and relations become close. The downside of this strategy is the other majors appear to extort some of this tech from those minors until the minors are strong enough to
