Again, this is not what the off-topic forum is for.
That still does not answer my question, kryo. You know me, I'm not some Demigod flamer. I loved the game. I just want to know exactly why Demigod's support was next to nothing compared to Supreme Commander 2's.
If you feel that way, I guess you'd have to ask GPG. It's their game. They have a Demigod forum on their site. BTW, SupCom 2's budget was much higher than Demigod's. Demigod was no where near $10m to mak
Expansion material though, right? (It's ok to save some things for an expansion , you guys gotta make $110 off us, not just $50)
Well as you know, my jet fuel doesn't pay for itself. :)
Quoting Splitshadow, reply 29 Besides, we live on a planet that we named after dirt. Or is dirt named after our planet? It's definitely dirt that is named after our planet.
Deep.
Each side has very obnoxious units. The Protos can come into your base and build in it with little cost to itself. The Zerg can form a blob of Mutas that are very hard to deal with (they fly, they kill air and ground). I don't have reapers to be particularly useful against good players because they really aren't that hard to defend against.
The balance is pretty good but I can't imagine how a Protos player can complain.
I am hoping for an OS/2 version of Impulse.
Sooo.... we gonna get changed lobby huh? Because if Impulse reactor (cough*steam rip off*cough)
LOL. By that argument, Steam is a Gamespy rip off.
Ok, the trolls have totally invaded now.
At the same time, the new server issues would be "your" fault correct? I've noticed horrible lag issues logging in and out and I was actually unable to log-in to my main account for a 7 day period. Is this just because you're testing new servers or are you slowly withdrawing server support from Demigod as well and it's all just an "unfortunant mistake".
The logging in issues of recent weeks is on our end. It is an ongoing mystery since there's no technical reason
You won't be double-charged for shipping. The total cost will be $69.95.
I still really felt the GPG/Stardock team worked well. I think you should do it again. Hell if I know if SupCom2 will ever get patches. Squeenix is a terrible publisher.
The GPG/Stardock teamup was a huge success for both companies. The challenges of Demigod would make a good documentary really. What happened behind the scenes is what makes it compelling. Suffice to say that Stardock and GPG teaming up when they did was absolutely critical t
Look, guys, we're not getting rid of the talents and weakneses. We like them. They're fun. They're staying. if you don't like them, move along and let others who want to add other talents and weaknesses participate. Moreover, if you're in the beta, you would already know you can pick out things like what spell books you have and we are certainly open to letting people use points to purchase special items. But we very much like the idea of creating a character and giving him unique tra
@Shurdus: The teching AI would have better but fewer soldiers with more impressive equipment. The questing AI would have more heroes with better gear but fewer troops. Who would win would depend on who did better with their strategy.
I bet it's a thorny issue for you when a lot of people don't realise you don't have direct control over the ongoing development of the Demigod franchise, it would be great to see more content released for it or even better a sequal. It would be easy for you to say "nothing to do with me" and blame the problems on GPG, then forget about the whole episode.
Stardock's name is on the retail box (at least in North America) so we are definitely share responsibility
Are you commited to be "Impulse-only" ? I bet that community would be a lot bigger if u would sign up some deal with Steam and made a weekend sale or 2-3 days possibility to download demigod and play it online. It worked out for many games and last one did this was new Aliens vs. Predator.
We're as committed to Impulse only as Valve is to Steam only. :) That said, I doubt the Demigod community would be noticeably bigger. Anyone who wants to know about De
Why isn't Elemental done yet?
Because I had to assign my best developers to help with Demigod for some months. :) But Elemental is coming along pretty well. I love Demigod but I particularly like games where we can update them ourselves. :)
This is one of the main things that is hurting demigod right now. The others being lag, connection issues and crashes. If these things were fixed it might be possible to revive Demigod. Unfortunately all my Demigod friends are now playing LoL and it will be very hard to get them to come back. The only way I think a Demigod revival will work is if we get a sequel that has none of the issues Demigod currently has.
I agree with you on much of this (except the crashes, if t
I like the sound of that. Is it possible we might see such in an expansion, perhaps developed by a different development house since GPG is knee-deep in Supreme Commander 2 and that Knights & Castles (??) game? Maybe contract a European developer to tackle that. And more maps. Items. Demigods.
We don't really have any say on that. Demigod is GPG's game. Stardock just publishes it and only in North America (and digitally) at that. Much of
Sorry to say but you do realize that downloads are failing MD5 it's something on your end. It's one of those all or nothing kind of things. If there was something on our end, it would be all users would run into it. I've run into this elsewhere. I had a ThinkPad where the wireless card was corrupting bits here and there in the name of "compression".
My jet fuel doesn't pay for itself you know...
BTW, my biggest objection to Demigod has nothing to do with MP. It is that the single player game design we submitted wasn't implemented.
I'm around. I'm just deep in code these days. I still love Demigod. And I will keep exerting influence on GPG to let us include mods and get things changed and updated over time in Demigod. Plus, I have the Impulse team working on virtual lobbies and such (think overlays) so that we can do other stuff. In another few weeks you should see an announcement on what is possible with this tech in ways that I think will make people very happy.
No, but most of the responses weren't that they disagreed but fanatic rants using words like "troll" without any context. Because my words weren't entirely kind to Elemental, they went into attack mode.
Actually, you said that Elemental doesn't belong in the same company as say Civilization V without any rationale. PC Gamer listed Elemental as one of the 10 most anticipated games of 2010. Now, I'm pretty biased mind you but people do seem to be pretty exci
w00t! Civilization is only competition for Elemental if someone would buy one instead of the other. I just don't imagine that happening. Anyone into TBS games is going to get both even if they came out the same day.
