Update 1.20.147 is all about oculus!!! Unlocking him and making him work is also part of the f...in update. Jeez sometimes i feel that we are playing diffrent games. How can people be so blind to so obvius and outrageus mistakes from stardock. Yeah i know they are not Blizzard. And guess what they never will be. This never will be another warcraft becuase they are soo lazy to put even tiny chagnes in the game.
It's really hard to take people seriou

It would still be a lobby scenario. The games aren't persistent. The difference here is that they're true client/server setups that are akin to what you see in a first person shooter rather than what is the norm in RTS or TBS.
I get emotional when dealing with creationists, 911 conspiracy theorists & holocaust deniers too. What’s your point?
You're putting creationists and global warming skeptics in the same camp as how you feel about 911 conspiracy theorists and holocaust deniers? I think, for your own sake, you should bow out of this discussion. I have little patience for insults being directed may way - explicit or implied. I have gone out of my way t
For most of the time when I was growing up, the scientific consensus on what caused ulcers was stress. Even today, many people say "Try to relax! You'll give yourself an ulcer." The hypothesis that stress was the cause was pretty universally accepted. Today, we know that ulcers are caused by a specific bacteria - not stress. Consensus is not science.
oo7, having read your posts, I suspect there's nothing we will ever do to please you. The servers work fine. I'm sorry they're not working well enough for you but I'm afraid that there's not much we can do on that front. The uptime on the servers is well over 99%.
I had thought they'd use GfWlive. But of the two, Steamworks makes the most sense. Impulse wasn't an option because Impulse Reactor does not presently have an in-game overlay for doing MP matchmaking. In Demigod, GPG had to code all the lobby stuff. Impulse Reactor only provided account and game lists in a DB the game then access and display (and does) but that's extra work. The Impulse overlay wasn't supposed to be released until Elemental originally but a very ve
We haven't released him yet. We just got back.
What would happen is we'd just have to remove modding period in all likelyhood. The game would do a CRC check and fail to load if it the python scripts loaded didn't match. If someone can find a way to stop an exploit and help us on that, that's terrific.
Zechio, I got literally thousands of emails a week and hundreds of private messages a day. I don't even have time to begin reading them all let along responding to them all. If you want these sorts of things addressed, you do have to go through the actual official channelers which you did eventually -- support which in turn forwarded to the development team where it was put on their schedule. I have asked GPG to look into seeing if they can protect the game from malicious mods
You do know that it was Christmas vacation and people do have lives right?
Sounds like a video driver issue. What video card do you have and have you tried updating your video drivers?
Yea, the issue tonight is that the server that manages the games is responding very very slowly. But not so slowly that it's technically down. So no IT guys are getting paged by the monitor program which is what would normally happen. Since I'm up playing the game I noticed it immediately and sent emails and text messages but unfortunately, i don't have the info on me for the IT guys directly but only their bosses so once they read it, they'll either fix it themselves or get the
Yea, it happens from time to time. Usually at the worst possible moment. The problem in this case is that the server monitor reads this: 0, 12/25/2009, 12:25 AM, SUCCESS, 21375, SLOW So the servers are technically up but taking 21 seconds to respond. The monitor should (imo) but doesn't have a short enough cut off time. So because it thinks it's up, no pagers get rung. I've put in calls. Should be up
Merry Christmas to you too. :)
I know next year as part of the Elemental project we want to be able let players setup schedules to play each other and then be able to report wins/losses and upload the replays and such. It would be done via the Impulse system but it would let Demigod players organize tournaments a lot lot easier.
This is a nice list but without getting specific, I will say that my experience is that many of those listed aren't "the best" but rather just very good Demigod players in general. I have played a number of those players and while they are good, their win percentages are largely because they won't go into a game that they aren't confident that they'll win based on who their teammates are.
If you buy a PC just for gaming, then yea, that's kind of insane. But few people I know do that. We get PCs for a host of reasons with playing games one of them. If I can get a good PC game for $10 versus $50 on the console then I'd say advantage PC.
My son and I had a couple games tonight against just the AI. I'm biased of course but I recognize fun when I'm having it. :)
Pretty much my sentiments Frogboy, but I gotta say the idea of SC and WC3 (dota) being p2p is confusing to me, becuase honestly I played those on dialup and they worked great, even when I split a dialup connection on WC3. I just don't understand why DG requires so much more bandwidth.
And I could multitask fine on my 512K Amiga. You'd have to ask GPG on the specifics of their network code. From what I've been told, however, it has to do with the lower to
I don't fully agree with you guys on some of these points. While I do think Demigod is the most fun of its genre, the MP features of LoL and HoN are far superior to what is in Demigod. I find both games a lot easier to get up and into a game than Demigod. I just wish those games had the game mechanics and polish of Demigod but then again, financially, I'm glad Demigod has the polish and gameplay advantage since obviously I have a vested interest in Demigod's continued success.</
I try to get new players to stick near friendly towers.
RightClick is on our list. I have put in the request to get a 64-bit Win7 version of it.
What's really a shame of course is that Elemental is a closed beta and thus no one will get to try out the battles before shipping thus whatever we are thinking is good right now is what is going to be what ships. And make no mistake, you all must buy whatever we decide today because if you don't, we'll blame it on pirates. (just kidding)
It fails the #1 rule of DRM: NEVER make honest customers feel like chumps. Any of us can get these songs for free. But I chose to pay for all my songs. I'm playing by the rules and they're socking it to me in return.
Even us A GW skeptics are willing to believe that it may be a bit warmer now - I've been around since 1956, I've seen the extent to which certain glaciers have retreated & all the rest, and I'm willing to accept that. It's the whole idea that CO2 is the principle cause, that CO2 levels must be reduced by means expensive and limiting, and that we know what we're doing when we attempt it that I'm not prepared to accept at face value.
