i know i come across as a dick, but if you've been doing tech. support on the internet for strangers as long as i have, you'll understand that i'm not ever going to coddle you, pat you on your back, or make you feel better. that's not my job; i'm just explaining something that would otherwise be confusing to some members. having an explanation of how and why is infinitely more useful than a simple what. you'd be surprised by the number of idiots to be found on the intern

have you had the game running previously, or are you looking in the effort of fixing a broken game? game.prefs isn't created until you run Demigod at least once.
just being thorough; link us to a screen cap. of your gam, it may not be same issue as in the aforementioned thread.
yeah, it appears i was wrong about my earlier statement. that said, i have my doubts that you're filling your graphics buffer. there may be issues pushing and retrieving textures from it however.
open up game.prefs and snoop about in there. be sure to make a backup first! that said, just upgrade your computer; if it's slow enough that you're considering 800x600 then it's simply too slow for DG.
you may very well have seen on the forums the term "simspeed" being thrown around, and wondered what it is. you may also have noted that simspeed is displayed in-game too. what simspeed is, is both a measure of CPU performance, AND a measure of gamespeed. though, in the case of the latter only indirectly so. in-game, all players have a maximum simspeed listed; this is the limit to how fast that computer can calculate all the stuff going on. more stuff, more things to wo
you may have one of the earliest dual cores on your hands, but you may be being lied to you (with a clever technology that Intel uses). either way; spending money on that computer is money wasted. i don't know how much money you have currently, or when you'll depart with it so take the following with a grain of salt. this is what i would recommend to a gamer-on-a-budget; it's got plently of grunt at a cheap price and is moderately upgradable in the future. <p style
If you think Demigod X is overpowered, learn to play. If you think Demigod Y is underpowered, learn to play; under the specific conditions A, B, and C, he or she is very good. If practical experience suggests Z is a gameplay problem, theorycraft proves you wrong. If you have problems connecting, learn to forward your ports, and shut up because it's better than it was a week ago. I think that covers ever
bummer. it was worth a try.
nothing; don't waste money on an upgrade. instead; save up about $700USD and buy a new one. it's much better value-for-money, and you will get a nice new computer too! your current computer is too old for it to be worth spending time and (more importantly) money on.
Shirley has a point; there may be a file/folder that has had it's permissions changed so that the admin. group is barred from access. it's kind of a moot point for an admin. as he (or she) still has the right to grant access to it. you probably could right-click the root Demigod folder and tell it to force some nice rules on all subfiles and folders; as long as the new permissions will allow you and the program access then overwriting the existing permissions sh
maybe it's a power-supply issue? not trying to patronise you or anything, but the three common causes for artifacting like that are; heat, lack of the awesome stuff called electric current, and multi-GPU setups. and i'm ignoring overclocking in this case, as it's a very fickel mistress.
While I'm not under any illusions about this being a good system, it's also well above the min. specs . I'd have no complaints if the game chugged a bit, but it's unplayable in the best case scenario. I guess if the min. specs are truly that far off I'll suck it up, but that seems pretty poor.
it is NOT. an X700 is below the minimum required spec.
someone add /purgecache to their shortcut, and see if that helps. SupCom appears to have a similar bug, and this fixes it.
do you have Logitech webcam drivers installed (the drivers, irrespective of the actual thing being plugged in or not)? or do you use the Comodo firewall? if you're a Logitech webcam use then close the tray application, or if that fails uninstall the drivers entirely. if you've got the Comodo firewall installed, then you'll have to disable Defense+.
I'm a little surprised that this info seems to be coming out now... Everyone thought that the end-game slowdown was due to fps?
i'm not surprised at all; it was well known in SupCom. and it wouldn't have been too hard to piece together if you done some research and looked at the history of the game/engine. i mean, i was well prepared for what DoWII was capable of by looking at it's ancestory; Company of He
very odd indeed. try; plugging in the monitor, tracking down the game.prefs file, making it migrate to the Desktop, and then running DG. if that fails, then delete the new game.prefs file and put the old one back.
I too generally dislike RTS MP games... As I can not micro/macro/APM/whatever as fast as most of them, nor can I remember every single unit/building/ability hotkey, etc.
sounds like SupCom is up your alley then; micro and triple figure APM are not required to be good. brains, timing, and focus are what is.
try running the game with admin. privileges; even if you're using an admin. account it sometimes needs to have that extra reassurance (on that note, it's probably some crazy security policy that's been added to your computer).
take a look at this thread . it's not exactly what you're looking for, but i'm pretty confident you'll find the ability to enable the required functionality in that program.
mperkins70; your computer is really old! get a new one, NAOW!
it's not client-server. i think it's more like client -> P2P Proxies -> other clients. which, considering that SD has hardware that they'll look after (with their trained IT monkeys) sounds like a clever setup indeed. /BulletMagnet crosses fingers.
SHIFT+TILDE or was that CTRL+TILDE? either way, settings aren't saved and you'll have to wait for the modding-enabling patch (which has dubiously been announced) before i can port my Console++ over from SupCom (which does the job of changing console settings for you).
wait a minute; 150MB on startup. fine. mid game; 800MB. fine too, as the engine does load resourses when actually starting a match. 940MB at match end; that may be a leak. but, at no point do we see the distribution between what's in the pagefile and what's not. for all we know; that extra 140MB could have been hiding in the pagefile the entire time as resources not yet used (ala. Giants, and kit that isn't available early on).
just take a look at the multitude of threads exactly like this one; there appears to be some issue with nVidia GPUs at the moment. oh, wait a second... snails pace. so the game slows down, not just poor FPS? well, that's a CPU problem. i'd recommend you pop over to the AMD website and pick up the latest Dual Core Optimiser, and CPU drivers. is it safe for me to assume that your fresh installation has all the updates?
