for the record; in SupCom it isn't linear. a max sim of +7 does not equate to 7x normal game speed. it's an exponential scale, where +3 is 2x and -3 is 1/2x. the electrical engineers and any one familiar with how sound and waves work will immediately accept this. for those who aren't so inclined, i'll save you a long boring lecture ( see here if you're interested ) but the current/max game speed appr

SupCom had this too; it was caused by a third party driver/utility for keyboards and laptop touchpads. removing and/or fiddling with those fixed always fixed the issue. maybe DG is now susceptible to this?
But actually, what I was getting at, was that DoW2 and Demigod appear to have a lot in common: levelling up, purchaseable upgrades, no base building, territory control gameplay, small number of units to play with.
unfortunately, i've heard that DoW2's MP will be a lot like DoW1's. sucks, but atleast we'll still have DG to enjoy.

see if you can join a proper MP game (one without bots). that'll tell you/us if it's just a connection thing (remember that a game with yourself and bots still counts as MP) or something else. if it happens to be something else, then i'd just suggest archiving DG, uninstalling it, and re-downloading. unless there's bandwidth issues, but i doubt that as you're in Europe, not Australia.

could you tell us the specifics of said sound service (i'll take a bet it was realtek), as that could very well become useful to both other beta testers and GPG (whom shall likely look at a fix). that, and i'm curious too. cheers.

read through the other threads on lagging with ATI cards. i'm pretty sure you'll find either a direct solution or pointers to one there. while playing, press NUMPAD-SLASH to bring up the game's framerate meter. it has a nifty little feature that records and tells you the last spike in performance. when you first start a game, i find several seconds of spikes and crap performance. but give it 30 seconds and everything sorts itself out (and for the record my machine currently has 1GB RA

the great thing about SupCom's system was you could specify an arbitrary data path file as a command line arg (thanks Neruz). if we were given that, then we could run separate clean and unclean versions of DG to keep the competitive players happy.

oh my, that's something i'd get when playing about in VB.NET. have you got all your flavours of .NET installed? [PS:] it's aparant that English isn't your first language, could you try to phrase things a little more clearly?

a flag is as meaningful as a monument. that said, it might be a nice cosmetic addition to the game. [BTW:] IIRC (noticed in beta 1, haven't finished downloading beta 2) the flags are already team coloured.

oh no, it sounds like DFS (i'm assuming he's still doing AI work) need a good kick up the pants... again. what i *think* is happening is the AI is leaking threads like it did in FA, to this day FA's unpatched AIs will invariably bring every (including yours) computer to a crawl. [PROTIP:] DG is a P2P game, there'll never ever be dedicated servers, as there's no servers at all! that makes server management a non-issue, but it also means your

i too got this, on top of a bung update (an unrelated issue that occured at the same time). it also occurs with SupCom not linking to a *.dll of GPGNet's. i spoke to Nakor, of Stardock via IRC a few days ago and he linked my to; http://sd.stardock.com/remove227.zip which fixed it for me, but i was runn

yes, some skills go together; but not all of them. it's the player's choice for which skills he/she gets. do you go heavy on one/few skills and leave yourself vulunerable with specific weaknesses, or do you go balanced and not specialise in anything in particular?

is it optimised now? no. will there be optimisation further on? yes. will it be good enough for a machine like yours? doubtful. 2GB RAM is plently, but an X2 3600+ and 8500GT are rather old. i'd suggest you start saving up your pennies for some upgrades. that said, you should turn on the render time (NUMPAD-SLASH) and console in 'ren_showNetworkStats'; then you'll be more able to find the performance crippling culprit.

there was assertion issues in the early betas while running WinAmp, as they use differing degrees of precision in their respective floating point maths. basically you couldn't use WinAmp and DG at the same time (though WMP worked fine), i suspect that your computer is changing between floating point precisions really quickly to satisfy both programs and the action of changing between the two is dropping a nuclear bomb on performance. try it with WMP... the

if you look around, you'll find a post by FrogBoy that lists all the current bugs. i believe in that list there's a known bug where running-games still show in the game browser. that said, it might be patched out now as there was talk of releasing a new beta (with purpose of patching said bugs). if that's the case, then i suspect you have a firewall/router issue.
