Q: What should my expectations be of the connectivity update?
Would this fix the very high lag spikes some people get in 4v4 or 5v5 matches? Or there is no hope for this?

TB and Erebus are the most OP demigods at the start of the match , imo...They should be avoided in 1v1. Anyway, this is not a game meant to be played 1v1, you always need some team backup around you.
I can only assume because the game is sending TCP data to the server and not getting through it attempts to resend over and over and over, causing the large upload spike which then clogs all your other interweb tubes.
I thought the game uses UDP, not TCP protocol. And anyway, why just some people have this problem?
u iddiot
Hey Frogboy , look, another jerk/asshole, and it's not from the DOTA community, it's from your community. Wow, what a surprise...
Did Company of Heroes had such severe mp problems? Or Dawn of War 2?
Thx, but please tell us if you can play a 5v5 game, that's the ultimate test, imo...:)
graphics make more people want to play
Wrong. Eye candy graphics only attracts people in the short run, on the long run gameplay counts and only it has the power to keep people playing that game over the years. DOTA, WoW and Team Fortress 2 are perfect examples for this.
I've played today a 3v3 match, and i still had those spikes, but very rare (intervals measured in minutes, not seconds, like in 5v5 matches). It seems that it gets worse as more players are in the game, culminating with 5v5 matches when it lags almost constant and the game freezes. I usually quit, to let others still enjoy the game.
Mauxe: That's very interesting to hear. I'll pass it on to the GPG team.
Well, there is a thread about this in the Technical Support, posted here: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/350625 Nice to hear about the other teams, too bad Team 3 and 4 don't post around here...:(
Here Deaghost. I found the Topic I was talking about. This guy seems to be having similar problems and if you scroll down and read Xsives posts, he's been doing research into what that problem might be. Check it out, see if it helps. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/349642
I know about that thread, but didn't help in my case. I too have constant huge spikes...almost constant (maybe 3-8 seconds of normal activity, t
No, it's not a software problem. I have dual boot, Vista x64 and Win 7 x64. The Win 7 is on another hard disk and it's a fresh install, without any programs installed, other than Demigod and drivers. Same problem there, very high spikes in 4v4 and 5v5 matches.
However, could you check your bandwidth on speedtest.net anyway, just to confirm that everything is fine there?
Sure. I'm from Europe, but it doesn't matter with who i play, it's only in 4v4 and 5v5 games that is happening. No router, just cable modem, no firewall, antivirus turned off, vista x64. Torrents work fine, so my ISP doesn't seem to throttle p2p traffic. Here it's to a server from Europe, Amsterdam:
Please tell us tommorow, when you get the upgrade, if that improved the situation. As i've said, i have a better connection than you (4mb dnl and 1mb upload), and still have this problem. Hope it'll work for you, good luck!
How fast an internet connection should be to support a 5v5 game, without lagging everyone else? Is there any official info on this?
When did you start to have this problem? I'm really sure that it's not a case of insufficient upload bandwidth, at least in my case is not.
I've never played DOTA but that doesn't mean my opinion is invalid either. That many hero's on paper seems to have its depth, but I can see problems with it.
Predicted just gave a quote from a pro player who played DOTA many years and knows the game's mechanics by hard. It was a honest opinion, without being inflammatory, or rude, or elitist or whatever you would call it. And he told you that no, it's not tru
ZehDon , thank you for proven my point that jerks are everywhere, not only in DOTA.
nevermind, bad post
I think this is wishful thinking, as Frogboy said in another post on this forum that 12 demigods would be enough. Two of them are are already know and are almost complete, so we will have only 2 demigods left in the far future...He also said that he wishes this game would stay away from DOTA. This was a very disappointing, to say at least. I had high hopes for the future of this game, now it's almost dead in my eyes. You can see his replies <a href="/350
Does it have the " [no text] " on the loading screen? If so, i think the save files (or profile) are corrupted, caused by alt-tabbing (that was in my case anyway). It happened to me twice.
I have the problem from day 1. But in my case it's worse, the spikes go as far as 1400...I can only play 2v2 games, if i'm lucky maybe 3v3. Vista 64, no router, no wireless, no firewall. It's strange that in the last days i see more and more posts about this problem...
Any good and very popular mp game will spawn jerks. Quake has them, Counter Strike has them, Halo has them, Star Craft has them, etc. They are called hardcore fanboys and it's inevitable in a popular mp game. Making game design choices just to keep away this kind of people is mind-boggling to me...
Bara , here is a quick fix to my (and other's) Demigod forum problem: make a thread pinned in the General Demigod section (that is shared on both demigod forums) to let people know there are two Ideas and Strategy subforums in Demigod, and they are located on the demigodthegame forum. Frogboy already did this, but only to let people know there is a Demigod Journals section, which is strange, because that section is already shared and visible on both forums: <a title="F
Who is to say the new Dark side unit isn't also a General?
Umm...maybe in the interview you didn't read? "Chick: So is it safe to assume one is an assassin and one is a general? Marr: Yes." Oculus is one of them, and will be a General, i think from the Light side.
I'm sure many people have a favourite DotA hero from the 90+, i know i do. Saying that you want to limit the variety in an online game just because it will cause some demigods to be played less and that there will be no favourite, could be the dumbest thing i have ever heard in this community. If you make 20 Demigod that are all well thought out and interesting to play in their own manner, people will have their own favourites and they wil
