sorry for the double post.. however i did some major overhaul to the OP with what i figured out. from here i have a basic script that can cross reference names of players from other games but currently can't add this in in any way since i don't know how to add info from the demigod stats. if anyone has any info i'd be really thankful [e digicons][/e]

from what i understand of how to create maps i think it won't be that hard. the portals will take a bit of coding but i think its a simple "if X person staying within y units for Z secs then move all units within y units to a location" (maybe) as for terrain its shousl be easy to that two since the ground has a Y coordinate so structures and collisions can be moved up or down depending on the island its on (for ease of creation, all the islands are 20 units above or below
[Never mind... solved it myself]
i'm up for that... which channel do u use?
i was wondering if anyone knew how to access the Custom Game Stats so it can be used in a Lua script? idealy i'd like to be able to compare names of those playing in matches as well as figure out how to access last played games stats however first i need to know if i can even access the info. anyone help?
this idea is actualy inspired by someone a few days ago (can't remember their name or which thread it was in [e digicons]:([/e] so you'r the one who posted a similar idea few days ago let me know and i'll give u the inspiration credit) basicly they suggested a map that was floating on bodies of land similar to the 2nd age in Crono Trigger. i tried a similar idea long time ago but it tunred into out really bad (those interested cna see it <a href="http://i172.photobucket.com/al
i'm in the same boat... started in lua about 2 weeks ago. i got book on C++ as well and have been browsing through that but it mostly looks the same. if you go HERE u can get a pretty good feel for using lua. still haven't got to how to create UI and non command prompt visuals but i'm pretty sure it uses another program (something like SDK or something) best bet is to ask someone else, since i probably don't know what i'm talking
A properly made script will just allow new players in the match to see that you have continuosly played games together. If you and say 5 people are all playing back to back it wont matter, because you all wont care. But say you and 2 of your buddies keep rejoining the winning team, and 3 new pubbers join up, they may not want to fight the 3 of you. If your just interested in playing, than you can simply switch teams and distribute your forces and the 'flags' would go away, s
yea, i'm also very interested in getting to chat to the real deals. building an idea is so much easier when u know what can't work. getting back to the OP thou, i would almost say its more productive for the game dev to spend say 1 hour a week all collectively chatting with (the more mature) community than taking that time to work. if the developers can see the excitment and ideas brought forward to from this community it would definately at least moti
[Ignored XSive_Death's post] i agree TheMystic, proper developer consumer discussion and communication is needed before AND after release. if those in this community aren't mature enough be able to do that then i think taking the time to find those that are willing and able to is very important.
well their are only 144 diffent combos of gears so technicaly it would be a case of making a 144 diffrent paths for the grunts to follow and then set accordingly. even for when a gear moves before the grunts get it, all that means is when they make the 144 diffrent paths some of them have to make sure that they take into consideration future movements of gears. and thatd the hard way to do it. if someone witha bit of lyua script know-how did it i'm sure they could ma
u don't read the journals much do u? well before posting a witty retort make sure u have read them first... u might be pleasantly suprised
since i'm getting abit of headway on this lua script stuff i thought i'd give it a shot and make a little program to help fortify my skills a bit. after a bit of thinking i thought of an interesting way to kill two birsts with one stone. Frogboy mentioned thinking of a way to detect premade games so that they can either be flagged or warned. i did my best to build a little lua script to do this but being so new to it i've only been able to come this far. reason for t
yea well i think i'll stay as far away from demigod editing as i possibly can from now on... maps seem like a much more safer place to add my input. chalk this one up as a failer and maybe i'll try redem myself with a new map idea when i get back on sunday. sorry to dissapoint people
best bet would be 3Ds Max. now this isn't a cheap program if ur going to be getting something legaly... [e digicons]:-"[/e] . personaly i have 3Ds Max 8 but the diffrence in this old version and the new 3Ds Max 10 or 2009 is mostly visuals i think. once u have the program try playing around with the models... best way is to create a box and start editing the mesh/poly untill u get a bunch of deformed starfishes. there are a bunch of very nice tutorials out there so t
wow.. feel the hate. fine everyone seems to love the way he is, i get it. i was just trying to be constructive with some suggestions to how a design flaw like being unable to interupt or prevent his minions could be fixed. since no one seems to care fine. OP closed... no need for further discussion
No.
thank you for the quick and straight forward answer. [e digicons][/e]
You can easliy link ot offsite polls though. (Also poles, and Poles)
Lol... [e digicons][/e]
[for those just reading this post, note that it has been disregarded from being stupid. obviously i don't know as much about demigod design/balance as other so this was failed suggestion. out of curtesy i'm leaving it up so i don't seem like a douche however before anyone else flames about this they should relaize that there is no point] like many people playing at the moment i've suffered many many defea
quick question to anyone know knows... can these forums handle poll posts where u have x answers and can only select y of them? nearly all the forums i've even made/been on have had the ability to do so, so i doubt this is any diffrent. what i want to know is if an admin or something could posts a poll up at any time or is it completely disabled?
well the ammount of work that this would take is probably slightly more than GPG is willing to put into this game so our hopes and dreams lie with the modders i think. from what i've gathered this will probably playout with custom matches being set up with diffrent mods to make the matches more or less stratigic. for this one i can see two seperate mods: Minion Expansion Mod (which would add in the new tab with all the new upgrades) and a Citadel Bank Mod (with a gold pooling syst
100% agree... with the community being overrun with trolls, flamers and down right rude people its important for constructive communication (even if it isn't directed at the idiot majority)
i think their talking about this:
# 2/25/09 - DFS - removed cheating per stardock # { # default = 1, # label = " Cheating", # help = " Enable cheat codes.", # key = 'CheatsEnabled', # &n
how about making it VIP... say 10-20 top contributers from the forums have a nice sit down with dev's. this way the questions get answered and if anarchy does insue then they only have a small group to controll (or mute).
how about putting up journal for people to post these most pressing questions... then narrow it down to something like 6-8 really good ones that can then be answered either over and IRC press release or at the developers discression. i think the point is that the community want to talk to the developers at GPG.. not SD who are acting as middle men.
well if u look at the map u can see that in order for the creeps to meet at the cross road then the 2nd wave needs to be spawned around when the 1st wave is 1/3 way around the loop. this means that there would only be 4 waves of grunts at max going around. that 16 waves max if all sides magiclty made it each citadel withought fighting. even on brother there are way more than that many units on the map late game so i think it should be fine.
