I just installed the DesktopX 2 release version from SDC. I have found a bug with the desktop right-click menu. If I move my mouse down to "New >" and let the sub-menu come up, then move my mouse off of "New >" and then back onto "New >" the sub-menu is displaying doubles of every item. If I move it off and back on again, it'll show triples of every item on the sub-menu. And this continues to happen every time I mouse off and back onto the menu option. I have had the "New >" sub-menu so lar

The colony ships and the transports automatically load 25% of your planet (or system) population on board when they are auto-launched. ~SDC~

If, after update, you only see part of the threads being shown for the discussion forums, do the following: 1) Right-Click on the GalCiv Forum tab 2) Choose the option Refresh List 3) Repeat for each forum, if necessary This worked for me. ~SDC~
At Incredible the AI does get a bit of a bonus, and this is in the form of better money from tax income per planet (+40% I believe). Then again playing games against any AIs at that level is meant to provide an almost unbeatable challenge. On Bright it gets a SLIGHT bonus to taxation income (only +5% I believe). On levels below Intelligent it is getting penalized in it's tax income. Otherwise it plays by the same rules as the human player and just gets smarter (more a

Nope. Playing at "Normal" level AIs when one declared war on me he attacked no less than two planets and five starbases. ~SDC~
Brad's earlier post mentions a new minor build of 1.01a that will be available later today to address the issue of metaverse scores not submitting properly due to bad serial number data being passed over the HTTP connection to their server. I still see the minor build as 1.01a.30 so it is probably not available yet. I'm going to play some more on my current game and check back later. ~SDC~
I think you just need a Close relationship. I had an alliance at one time with both the Drengin and the Altarians while playing with a perfect neutral (50) rating. ~SDC~
I think the biggest thing against that argument is that at any time you can have every one of your planets across the galaxy doing nothing but research or military or social. However, you can't have planet A be doing nothing but research and planet B concentrating solely on social projects at the same time. For that matter, the way it is setup now, you're not really reallocating people (work force), you're just reallocating your budget. This month we're putting a lot of funding into o
I'm sure that with the extended player base that a lot of new exploits (whether minor or major) might be discovered, but like the tech exploit mentioned in another thread, I bet Brad will try and squash the exploit the first chance he gets to tweak the AI :) ~SDC~
The trade all tech resolution was... interesting... was a pleasant surprise when I had fallen behind in tech on my last game due to maxing out military production at the expense of everything else to get the 15 nice systems within reach before the AI :) Though... my first game it kind of sucked when it came up and took away my advantage of being the only civilization with battleship and overlord technology... :notsure: You should place it in the library as an optional UP iss
Hmmmmmm... I got 380 points on a medium galaxy for a cultural victory. Though I haven't been able to submit the score to the metaverse, data goes out but doesn't get to their server and into the database. I've re-registered multiple times and tried using windowed version, fullscreen version, with stardock central running and without it running... no luck so far... oh well, I have the save and will finish again and resubmit when it is working for me. ~SDC~
I'm just waiting to hear from Brad concerning updates to the manual (they may want to handle all of that in house). I think he has more pressing issues to deal with for the time being, like some people not seeing the updates through SDC and technical support issues regarding problems with crashes or lockups. I'll let you guys know when I hear something regarding manual updates. I'm sure they'll address it once things slow down a little bit. Thanks for doing the reformatting of the do
Gerrit, I started the process of converting it to a "proper" document format as well, but stopped for the time being. The current manual will probably become outdate quickly with the bonus pack already released, one patch released and another coming before the end of the week. I just concentrated on getting the manual OCRed for reduced file size and readability in this first version. I'm still waiting to hear from Brad on whether or not they need a hand with keeping the manual up to date.
I hope it wasn't toned down too much... sounds like a fun late game event to play through :) I had a couple of minor civs pop up in my turf and dealt with them the way you mentioned Brad. I just built a couple transports in the neighboring system, loaded them up with about a billion people and crushed the upstart civ before it could cause me any problems :) ~SDC~
Those three were removed for play balance reasons and I've seen another post that indicates they will be added back into the game once they have been re-worked to balance with the other parties. The abilities section only shows which abilities you've bought for your race. ~SDC~
True. At least you don't have to submit the deal over and over to know if there is a good chance it'll be accepted. I guess I just like haggling with them to get the best balance between amount and number of months :) ~SDC~
Ummmmm.... hasn't anyone else noticed that the diplomatic text will change colors depending on what the alien race thinks of the deal? Here is a hint... green = good :) ~SDC~
I might as well chime in here and say that I also got the update from the Atlanta server. I also have build 4 of Stardock Central. ~SDC~
Perhaps there is an issue with a configuration file not auto-updating itself correctly? I had a similar problem with the forums at home and at work not showing the same forum buttons. I had to delete the discussion.ini file to force it to update and see all the forums available. ~SDC~
Fifthmist: does SDC show your installed version as 1.01? If it doesn't recognize that you have version 1.01 installed, it will make you download the entire 84.50 MB. ~SDC~
Actually, there are two different UP issues involving technology trades. This issue, "TechRevolution02.UPISSUE", used to trade 10, 5, 2 or 0 techs. It has been reduced to trade 8, 4, 2 or 0 techs. The other event is "TechRevolution01.UPISSUE" and it has remained unchanged. I have no idea why people are complaining. If they are ever in a game where they get into a war and have to let research slack (or deliberately cut back research to maximize building colony ships in the early game
Brad, I don't think the change to the Technology Trade United Planets issue will work... here is the snippet of the event text and the option values don't appear to have been updated: Option01 "8" Option02 "4" Option03 "2" Option04 "None" Option05 "" Option06 "" OptionVal01 10 OptionVal02 5 OptionVal03 2 OptionVal04 0 OptionVal05 0 OptionVal06 0 Shouldn't the numeric option values match t
How often will the windowed version be updated? I play that version about 90% of the time. Will you ever incorporate the window mode into the main EXE as a command line switch like a lot of games that even unofficially support a windowed mode have done in the past? ~SDC~
