In my case, the pivotal part to surviving that kind of setup is to meet all the other civs early and establish myself as the leader wrt tech trade. I then use the money generated to pay off the aggressive civs until I can build up some decent defensive stuff in my colonised sectors (i.e., defensive ships and appropriate starbases). Then I usually have to fight a defensive war against someone, but that is doable so long as I keep the warfare within my fortified sector(s). Eventually, slowly, my e

The Carinoids are currently prepared to give me 2400 for 10 months in exchange for me giving them 1000 for 10 months. Surely this is an AI bug? If not, someone please tell me so I can exploit the hell out of them :) ~SDC~

It should be possible to adjust the map display features from within the Tactical map. There should be a "Tactical Map" symbol on the minimap's frame to take you to the Tactical map. Having to go through the planets listing is mildly inconvenient and not excessively intuitive. There should be tooltips within the Tactical map telling you owner and name of systems, owner&name&defense of starbases and owner&type of ships when hovering over them. ~SDC~

As an example, numerous nations declared war in WW2 before they started tossing their troops around. Usually, there will first be an ultimatum (would be equivalent to a "threaten war" option in the diplo screen) then there will be a formal declaration of war if the ultimatum is rejected. ~SDC~

I don't understand why this is so controversial and/or difficult. The way I see it, the problem in itself is very simple: Planet X is receiving 20bc from the Imperial coffers when all it needs to complete its current project is 12bc. The solution then presents itself: Planet X will be allocated only 12bc from the Imperial coffers this turn. What to do with the 8bc saved becomes a matter of debate. Logically, one of the following should happen: 1) it is added to

When buying many social projects for the same planet in one single turn, they disappear from the list of stuff I can build on that planet but do not make it to the list of projects completed on the Details screen. I don't know if I'm still getting the benefit from them - some things seem to work and some do not. In particular, I once bought Ultra Spices in this way and have seen no trace of them since, but when I buy Soil Enhancement and Habitata Improvement in the same turn, they both seem to s

When I'm at war with someone, my autopilot (and even my autosurvey?) ships will auto-attack any enemies in their path. This is almost never what I want to happen. They should avoid the enemy ships just as they normally do (i.e., travel around them). ~SDC~

With the discussion in a different thread in mind: Is another loophole to avoid losing colonies to enemy Influence by saving and loading every now and then in order to screw up the computer's calculation of sector Influence? ~SDC~

When a resource is first spotted, it is put on the map and remains there even when obscured by fog of war. If an AI builds a base on it, the resource disappears from the map and you can't see the base because it's in FOW. When you drive by it, revealing it, the base is visible just so long as you can scan it and then disappears again as it reenters FOW. It should either: 1) Display the resource symbol when the station is in FOW _or_ 2) Display the resource symbol until you firs

In the planet screen social production list, there should be an indicator on those wonder-type projects that are already being built by another of your planets. ~SDC~

On the map in the Domestic Policy/Trade screen, it should display the sector coords of the sector your mouse is hovering over. It can be a tad difficult to see which sectors are being entered by trade routes. ~SDC~

At start of turn, when I get cycled through everything that's built something, each planet screen I get should tell me what was built there that turn. ~SDC~

I built Harmony Crystals at some point. Several months later, I get a message that the Altarians have developed Harmony Crystals and that they have a monopoly on them. This was after I had traded the crystals to them. ~SDC~

When I press "space" on a ship, this shouldn't use up all of its movement, it should only set a "don't bother me with this ship again this turn" flag on it. That way, if I change my mind later in the turn, I won't have ruined any chances of using that ship just because I wanted to skip it. ~SDC~

Diplo: The default amount of Influence to offer should be zero. Right now, I keep missing the "x for y months" line, hit the "1 influence points" line, click ok and then have to move the mouse down to the offer list to get rid of the influence. "1" doesn't seem like a useful default anyway and if it defaulted to zero then it would be a lot easier to get rid of an erroneously opened Influence offer. ~SDC~

On the research screen, there should be a scroll bar in the techs list. There should be little "?" icons next to each item that is listed in the main section so I can see what each thing does. It should be possible to browse techs you haven't heard about yet. ~SDC~

It should say in the research screen how many research points each project needs, how many you have already spent on each project, how many remain on each project and how many you are cranking out each month. ~SDC~

I am currently playing in the biggest galaxy with all AIs set to max intelligence. I met the Carinoids early on and noticed they had 3 systems with 2-3 colony ships in each. They had no ships actually travelling around. Just to their west (the closest was 6 squares from one of their systems) there was a bunch of really juicy systems. It took me a year or two to crank out the colony ships and get them there, but I eventually colonized them. It seems buggy that a very clever AI shouldn't

There is a coloured circle to the lower left of the main window which proudly announces itself as showing the spending power of the various races. It is all purple. Was this invented by the same people that make emergency level codes in the military? ''Our spending power is currently at "Purple"'' ... The purple race (Yor) isn't particularly wealthy. They have 463bc compared to my 30,000bc. ~SDC~

There should be statistics graphs per planet. For each planet, I want to be able to plot the historical development of: - Bonuses (per type) - Pop - Pop growth - Planet quality - Maintenance - Revenue - Defense - Ratings - Morale - Mil output - Social output - Research output - Influence I would also like for planets to remember which race they are. That's from the role player in me :) ~SDC~
