I'm heading out. Will be online in about an hour.

Go away.
Long story short, Stardock can't do anything ?
Correct. One day when I write my tell all book I'll have plenty to say about European retailers. People first blame the digital distributors for the pricing and then people blame the publishers but it's really the retailers who put the pressure on (in my opinion). You have no idea what sacrifices were made behind the scenes to have Demigod have a single worldwide price.
No evidence? HoN has already been preordered by 35,000 people, and it's still in closed beta, several months away from release. How many preorders did Demigod have at that point?
Hundreds of thousands of total sales of Demigod so far. Also, where do you base your number of pre-order sales on? I've seen nothing on HoN pre-orders. But it's easy to make claims, if HoN ends up on the top 10 NPD sales lists when it ships for a couple of months then we'l
The only players I kick from lobby are ones with a ping >400ms even after it settles and even then, there are a few people that I know have good setups who have high displayed pings that I will keep in.
What point are you trying to make here? That a plurality of gamers prefer a larger number of simpler characters, and that's a bad thing?
Actually there's really no evidence to suppor that most *paying* gamers want large numbers of simpler characters. When these games are released, we will be able to see what their sales are. At the end of the day, the goal of a commercial game developer is to generate revenue. We could, for instance, give Dem
Proxie could show a perfectly fine ping, and still be laggy as hell.
That's not related to proxies. The problem with ping is that they only show response time. They don't take into account upload bandwidth. Demigod uses more upload bandwidth than the typical game (which is why it requires a broadband connection). So what happens is that once the game gets going, you have people with really low end (fast ping but low bandwidth DSL or ISDN for instance) setu
Insert death knell for premades. So do I find a different game to play with my brother, or is there any type of support for premades forthcoming? I think it's a great addition, but the effect will be to push most premades out of the system. I am going to get kicked from lots of games if I try to join with my brother. We try to find other premades, but it is a long process. By the way, if you want to be really helpful, you'd r
Incidentally. I play most nights after 7pm EST if anyone wants to play online with me. :)
Two other additions today: First, we will display the % of games that a player completes. Users can be the judge of what an acceptable completion % should be. But we track the games a player starts and the number of games a player finishes. If someone is causing desyncs or other nonsense, well, it'll get pretty obvious pretty quickly. The other change is that we are going to start displaying, as part of a user's pantheon account, all games that they start, not just the g
BTW, I'm pushing to get the changes I mentioend to the overlay in for the end of next week ideally. So this isn't some long off addition.
Let me first say that I like both LoL and HoN. I like them partially because they draw off a particular demographic of Demigod player that will never be happy with the kind of game we're looking to make. On the risk of speaking for my friend Mike Marr at GPG, Demigod, as it is today, is the game we wanted. That's not saying it couldn't be improved (see my complaints on MP stats, lobby stuff, and item balancing) but those are things that can be addressed. For me, that Dem
How about the achievements? will those work when 1.2 is released?
They work now (as of right now). Retroactively as far as I know I'm the only one who got it fixed. So don't worry about me, I'm taken care of. :)
We plan to support GameReplays the site. I love the concept.
Spending lots of money on health care = something I don't consider a bad thing.
Well, as a reply to frogboy, i see people get proxied all the time. Perhaps somesthing wrong with their internet provider or so, but proxie isn´t fixed. You might say that people get connected to "their" proxy server in their part of world, never the less. It´s not working. It is a lottery to let proxies play with you, sometimes ok, but most of the times it lag the shit out of people. Most people have not all the time of day to play, and if proxie/lag hell b
Starting with v1.19 of Demigod there won't be a "skirmish" option anymore. Few people used it. Fewer people liked it. And it had the effect of splitting the MP community. The focus going forward is going to be on Pantheon and Custom games. In Epoch 2, custom games weren't really counted for anything since the stat system was still premised on only skirmish and pantheon games. We are in the process of changing this for the remainder of
1. It's not dying. There are charts on the number of games being played daily by the number of players and it's remained pretty steady. 2. Demigod isn't a "casual" game. However, it is not designed for the hard core either (IMO). It is designed so that gamers can sit down and play it without having to learn 50 different tricks to be competitive. Games like HoN and LoL are outstanding games that cater to the competitive crowd that I recommend strongly. 3. I agree with Dal
For starters, there are two types of mods we have in mind initially. The first type of mod can be classified as mods that you would like to see implemented into the base game. I.e. feature changes and such that you would like us to propose to GPG for inclusion into a future update. Mods of that type should be classified with as much detail as possible (specific code changes, which file, etc.). The second type of mod can be classified as an alternative mod, that i
Okay, I've been playing a lot more online and I'm curious what the thinking is between items that increase armor vs. items that increase HP vs. items that increase RATE of HP recovery.
Security stuff has to be addressed first.
Well as you may have noticed, I'm posting again on the Demigod forums. The decision internally is that we're simply going to zap trolls in their tracks. No warnings. Just posting priviledges taken away. As someone else pointed out, Demigod is a different type of game and it has a different demographic than say Sins of a Solar Empire. People who can't control themselves have plenty of other sites they can go to spew venom but here we're going to take a pretty hard line on d
We're starting to send out emails presently. It's just not available to the general public.
Those of you with Demigod have priority access to the Ready to Play beta. Highly recommended you sign up. https://www.stardock.com/products/readytoplay/
