There's nothing for you to apologize for. All you did is wake me up to the reality of the Demigod community - it's toxic. No matter what we do for the game post release, it'll never be enough. I think that's clear. No matter what we do or what we get GPG to do the best we'll ever get from the Demigod community is "well it should have had to begin with" with the typical response being "Well that's nice but what about

You know, you're right. I shouldn't take away people's posting just because they annoy me. That is being thinned skinned. A better solution is to just quit reading the postings here as it just gets my blood pressure going up. Going forward, if you have a tech support question, contact [email protected] . If you have a game play change you want, go to the GPG forums. Personally, I'm done with the Demigod community. That's just
Is it possible to clarify what we can honestly expect from SD and GPG regarding demigod updates? I'd like to have realistic expectations on what could happen in the future here.
You can expect updates to Demigod from what Stardock can provide for a long time to come. For example, anything we do in Elemental via Impulse that we can bring to Demigod is likely to be added. As for what GPG will add. I can't speak for them. However, our agr

Wicked, I reserve the right to take away posting rights of people who annoy me. Consider yourself warned.
I know that I've been nagging at you quite a bit. Its because I like SD's games and am really really looking forward to future games like Elemental. I just think that it would be a real shame if you didnt learn from the lessons of DG's release. And it seems like from some of your posts that you really havent grasped the message that I think many people are trying to send you. Maybe I'm just not interpreting your posts correctly, but thats what is making me nervo

Here is what I wrote within a few hours after my original comment on 1900 vs. 100: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/359613
I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong. And after that comment I made it became clear that my perception of the population of the community was in error. On Stardock's side, I pretty much have an infinite budget when it comes to doing things on the game code-wise. The challenge i
I'll never be purchasing another GPG or Stardock game if this is how they percieve games should be made. You just lost 8 customers, those are the "casual" gamers you are supposed to cater to (1-2 games a night with friends). I think you have made a fundamental flaw of believeing all casual players don't play with friends, and that anyone that does only cares about competitive play.
Oh wah. Seriously Wickbear. We're talking about a game that is now 3

Shadow got his posting priivledges back before (I think) this thread was even created. He emailed me, we talked and it was settled quickly. Incidentally, he wasn't banned. His posting/commenting was restricted (i.e. access group visitor). It's akin to IRC being silenced for N minutes as a means of getting someone's attention.

Regarding pantheon/skirmish: I like the idea someone mentioned where it will team you up with people who are on your friends lists. That would be EASY to do. What's the consensus here on that thought?
That is a good idea. And you can get those re-reviews you've always wanted
I don't think Demigod should get re-reviewed. If the connectivity issues had been truly resolved (and I mean really resolved) in the first few days I would have probably felt differently. But the connectivity problems weren't really resolved until early June -- 6 weeks later. In my mind, that's unforgiveable and hence Demigod got the reviews it deserved. It should stand as a remind
i honestly think the single greatest error made with Demigod was releasing it too early. obviously the connection problems were nasty, but those might have been solved in advance as well given proper beta testing. but the real problem at this moment seems like the game was basically 6 months of development away from being fully featured and ready for ongoing support and expansions packs or DLC content. the game should have been launched with better socia
I think I'm updating my system to if(new_game_comes_out_by_Stardock), then(don't_buy_it).
Please see to it. People have this misconception that companies want customers no matter what. I can assure you that we can do without customers who think their purchase entitles them to abuse us. I'm a gamer. I make games because I enjoy it. I also don't tend to put up with crap because, well, I don't have to. But make no mistake, I would prefer our g

I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong. And after that comment I made it became clear that my perception of the population of the community was in error. On Stardock's side, I pretty much have an infinite budget when it comes to doing things on the game code-wise. The challenge is making sure it's economically feasible for GPG to make changes on their end to get what people want. I read these posts and I wish I could talk more openly about things but too often people

I don't know if this counts as tech randomization but we are planning to have a pool of techs that are are inserted into games based on whether they make their probability roll. I.e. certain techs would show up in some games but not in others. Not core techs but ones that spice things up in different directions.

Oh I'm not leaving. I just can't be making posts every day and such. It seems like if I'm gone a few days we start seeing posts asserting that Demigod has been "abandoned" which I and others here find maddening given how much daily work is going on for Demigod both at Stardock and at Gas Powered Games. I think we got a new build in from GPG every day this week. But those builds have to go through QA and be checked for bugs and such. It's a damned if you do
Seriously Brad, GPGnet had everything the competitive community needed (minus a few bugs but whatever). You guys chucked it in favor of whatever it is you expected Impulse to become. "Random Teams" does not solve the problem. The outcome of a skill based RTS should not be determined by a roll of the dice.
Who's "you guys"? You should probably first find out what you're talking about before making such statements. I think what we'll proba

Yea, I sent an email in about it and got them to get the other page up. Also, as someone else pointed out, I didn't intend to hang out too much once the connectivity got fixed. The other communities get jealous. :)

This is an age old problem in RTS's. I'm one of those guys who don't play online with friends so I'm usually on the receiving end of this kind of problem. The solution won't come in one big update but rather gradually over time. One of the first things you'll likely see (ETA next couple weeks) will be that the connection info will put the player's experience score as part of their connection data. This is one of the reasons why the stats not being r

The opengames.aspx got overwritten by the old one that only lists people on the beta server. I've sent an email. See my Friday update to get an idea where things stand.

Regarding extra Demigods: I'd like to see modders being able to make more demigods. But if you expect GPG (or Stardock for that matter) to put guys on making them, $9 for 2 is likely your best case scenario. So if the feeling that they should be a couple bucks (or free) indefinitely is widespread then you just won't see those demigods. Re people who say "fix bugs". I think it goes without saying that when bugs are found, they're added to the list of things
