Pretty good build, although I have noticed a few bugs and quirks. The sliders on the economic screen don't seem to be working correctly all the time. At one stage in my game I wanted to change my military spending from 33% to 0% but for some unknown reason when my slider was at 0%, my revenue per turn went down even furthur. Another bug I noticed was when I was happily doing some researching for a few turns when one of the minor races decided to declare war on me. So within a
Does anyone else *hate* the UI in MOO3? Or am I the only one? The look of plain, no textured, light blue screens/buttons makes it look very un-appealing to me. If anything, it looks like a website rather than a game. I wish they would've taken the UI from MOO2 and just enhanced it. In my opinion, there's definetly one thing Galciv has over MOO3 and thats the UI :)
Same thing happened to me. I had killed off all the other races except for one and it was just me and him. Then the game quit saying "military defeat". I was like, "eh!?!"
Well done guys, this game is pretty neat. One of the things I'm most impressed upon is the GUI. It looks much better compared to MOO3 (least I think it does). Just a query tho, the background music during the galactic screen, did you compose that yourself? Because it sounds identical to the background music from Star Control 2. Few bugs that I've noticed: (1) The research screen with the 'Trade' tech has a few spelling errors in the future tech bit on the bottom right. eg,
Hehe, I guess for those people wanting more depth should play MOO3 whilst those that want it simple should play GalCiv. (no offense)
I actually really like Technician's ideas. Wyrenn, complication is generally bad when it comes to UI design but I don't see how it could be bad for something that adds depth and strategy to a game..
Just letting you know that you can win the game by trading 99999 influence points for any amount of enemy solar systems, even though you have none to begin with.
Jurgen, Well I think its too soon to make a decision on whether or not this game was worth buying. I think it would be more fitting to make that judgement when the game has finished. I do however agree with you in that currently this game is way to basic in the ship building department. I mean, its like you research some advanced weapon technology and all you get is +10 to combat? Whoopie :) Personally I would prefer the level of ship building which is in MOO2 or SE4. <
1) Would be very nice to have purely for improving the presentation of the game. But this feature shouldn't be absolutely essential. I think what you have now is great and if adding a rotating 3d planet only takes a few days then sure, put it in. 2) I think this is probably the least importent of your other 4 suggestions. Sure this would be nice but it wouldn't add to the game the same effect that a rotating 3d planet would. If you know what I mean... What you have currently with the sh
Another bug: My game sometimes crashes to the desktop when loading a saved game via the in-game menu. Heres the long debug.err file.. Debug Message: ******* Starting Game Shell ******* Debug Message: Going Fullscreen Debug Message: RGB in format 5:6:5, Masks reported as f800:7e0:1f Debug Message: Now Fullscreen Debug Message: Shell initialization complete Debug Message: ***** Initializing Game ***** Debug Message: Timer Frequency is 0 369e99 D
argh, my crappy diagram didn't turn out right. Here it is again :notsure: A BC (A - planet, B the launched ship from the planet, C another ship) Both tile stack B and C will report 2.
1) If you have one ship on a tile and another ship next to it on a different tile, it reports both tile stack as having 2 units. I've seen this happen many times but it happens more often when I have a ship next to the tile where the ships from the planet are launched to. For example, A BC (A - planet, B the launched ship from the planet, C another ship) Both tile stack B and C will report 2. 2) I dunno if this is meant to happen but if you wipe out a race
Sorry for responding so late but by the time I getup (about 8am) its already very late in America so just bare with me :) Frogboy, About research queuing... what i actually mean by that is the ability to queue currently available research projects. Then maybe when one of those projects allows you to branch off into other areas the game might play a sound file that says something like "New research projects available". Or maybe have a little dialog box that comes up saying that
Hi all, After having only played the beta for about 1.5hrs I'd like to offer some suggestions for future beta builds. Here are just some points I noted down on paper: - The ability to view what each enemy planet is building, from space, should (in my opinon) be taken out of the game. It unbalances the game by giving the enemy too much information on each planet. - The ability to queue research projects should be put into the game. It kinda sucks having to manu

not comming out tonight? :(
I'm curious, what would be the system requirements for the beta?
Looking forward to it! Can't wait to finally try this game out.
