Stats are imperfect but they are the best measure of a person's skill that we have. For me, I look at the win percentage. If they have a 50%+ win rating and a reasonable number of games under their belt, then they are okay by me. If they are below that, then I look at the win percentage of everyone playing. If the teams looked balanced, then I will hang around. If not, I will go find another game. I do not want to sit through game after game of people feedi
The pool of people is decreasing continuously...what will happen with this game? In about 2months, the number of players online was cut by half and there is no custom game, well 3-4, not a lot... Sad...
Population is fairly stable in terms of not declining, but the numbers are erratic from night to night. . . If that makes any sense. Some nights when I am on, there are only 1300 people logged in.

There will be times when I hop in a lobby, make a comment like "ugh, premade", and leave. This is generally after I check the stats for both teams and the type of game is not self-evident from the title. If a premade is not kicking noobs on the other team, it is apparent to me they are just out for stomping. For instance, if the premade team has 5 members with a 80%+ win record and the 4 PUG'rs are all sitting at under 30%, yo

I think we can all agree that, rightly or wrongly, premades will be getting fewer games after this patch. With that being the case, what keeps premades around and playing? AIs in Pantheon is just stupid and a waste of time. If I see an AI name come up in the connection dialog, I will click "cancel." By level 10, most people have gotten the Groffling Warplate or they are at least very close to getting it. That's 1200 armor right there. If you do not have that, then you must have Nimroth Chestpiece with 750 armor. Taking UB, he has a base of 475 arm

Reply to Armor vs. HP in Demigod

So many threads about this already. HP stacking trumps all for the following reasons: Priests and grunts heal a %. Flags multiply your total hp IIRC, not your base. Armor items do not justify their cost. Special attacks ignore armor. Are there exceptions, yes, but those are so rare as to not be relevant. First, no one plays QOT, and if they do, they'll be dead most of the time anyway.&nbsp

Demigod is not a casual game because it is not forgiving to the casual player. Put another way, one bad player on a team screws that team over. Two experienced players cannot carry a casual player. If they could, this game would be a bit friendly. But here is the kicker, the game also does not adequately address the needs of the competitive player - predominantly because there is no robust match making service for teams. Premades have a horrendous time finding

No one cares about the ladder right now so effectively there is not one. The only thing people tend to look at is win percentage. Where the game fails for the community is the ability to find games that are skill level appropriate in a easy manner.

When I hop into a lobby I check the following: Win rate of the host. If win rate is high, determine whether I am playing a premade by looking at the hosts past games. If host is a premade, look at my teammates win records. If they are reasonable, play game. Basically, I look at win rate. It's not perfect but it is a quick an dirty benchmark that works more often than not.

My respect for GPG is undiminished. The game itself is very good and the balance is pretty spectacular considering what most games can look like out of the gate. Where Demigod lags behind in terms of the competition is everything before you get into a game - connectivity, matchmaking, rankings, lobby system, Pantheon behavior, etc. I bitch a fair amount, but that is mostly because I see real potential in this game and I am sorry that it didn't quite live up to what it could

Frogyboy, why not get rid of Pantheon and keep Skirmish? I see no justification for locking people into the "Light" or "Dark" forces for an extended period of time. Nor do I see any sense to the enforced "time-out" that Pantheon imposes. Not to mention that I think the Dark forces have a bit of an advantage with Erebus and Unclean Beast on the same side. Otherwise I agree that one of the modes needs to go. As to the game loss penalty for disconnects. I gu
