Harver, I normally build freighters from my best star system, and send them as far as possible to the other races' best systems. If you build a starbase (or more) in that sector and max out on economic modules, then you'll greatly increase your trade income. I read that if you place starbases (with economic modules) along the trade route, the trade bonuses add up.

I think that if the capital system is conquered, another system is chosen as the capital.
It's April 1st.
"Does this event ever happen to the Human Player? " I had it happen to me. I had a planet in the Sol system go all the way to class 54! That was sweeeeeet. LOL
On a somewhat related subject, I had a warning about one of the races discovering a civilization which would get stronger until it enslaved everyone. I forgot to write down which one. Is there any way to get a list of the messages and warnings that have already happened? I'm not talking about social projects or ships built. I wanted to be able to go back and look at the warnings about planets defecting, or the warning mentioned above, for example.
Hmmm. I did get a warning in my latest game that a planet was about to defect. This was a world I conquered from the Torians, and the sector had three other Torian planets. I had to conquer the rest of the planets in the sector so my world wouldn't defect. ;) BTW, morale has little or nothing to do with cultural defections. I think this was argued in past threads.
It seems that the find next ship function doesn't work all the time in Beta 5. For instance, if a ship with moves left is selected and you click on another sector in the mini-map, you can not get back reliably to that ship or to find the next ship. If you select any other ship when in that mode, the find function will start working again.
Of course, I should proofread my posts regarding typos. LOL
I noticed that in Galcatic Exhibition and one other (I forgot which) the influence is improved "10%%".
I like the reference to "we are not computerized players". Very nicely done! :D
Sounds good!
Was this changed, or is it a bug? It's actually better like this. After a while, I tend to tune out what the message says anyway. ;)
What is the secret to their population growth? In my current game, I found four class 26 planets, I have more that one third of the galaxy to myself (good start, I thought...). Yet the Drengin population growth is exponential while mine is linear and barely keeping up with the rest (who may have a handful of planets). I am playing a gigantic galaxy with all genius players. It seems to happen in every game that the Drengin population grows incredibly fast. :(

A lot depends on the improvements a planet has made. Planetary Defenses, for instance, will make it tougher to conquer a world, so you need more troops. It also depends on your relative military strength vs your opponent's.
OK. I'm not used to starting a war. Usually the AI beats me to it. :) :) It looks like the transports need to have the same code added as the warships, to check before attacking.
Most ships prompt you before attacking a race that you are not at war with to make sure you want to go to war. This needs to be added to transports. Currently you can invade an undefended planet and start a war without any prompts. I think that under Democracy and Star Federation, there should also be a vote in the senate before going to war (like in GC OS/2).
Here is another similar failure. Huge galaxy, trading diplomatic translator for money to one of the minor races. Debug Message: Drengin Empire (1): Researching: Nano Electronics Debug Message: AI-X: Found no places to send my colony ship. Debug Message: AI-X: Found no places to send my colony ship. I have to agree with Magus. To have a starbase with soooooo many upgrades get destroyed by one ship is hard to take. Unless your military production can support having one or more overlords to protect each starbase, it is impossible to protect them. I am hoping that we can get an upgrade so a starbase maxed out on defense can take on one or two overlords until help can arrive.
A number of planets from all races broke away to form the Fundamentalists. I captured one of the planets that used to belong to the Drengin. All of a sudden, I went from having warm relations with the Drengin to being at war. Does the AI realize that it is no longer their planet? Is this the expected behavior (i.e. once a planet belongs to a race, they should be the one to get it back after rebellion, or risk war)? I thought that once a planet rebels, it is free for the taking. ;)
Forgot to mention, game was Beta 4Z, started new.
The Drengin initiated a trade request, and I accepted. That was okay. I got an immediated CTD when I clicked on "Done" (or was it "I have nothing to say"?) to continue game. I think what Brad mentioned was that the movies and such were too big to include in the download for the beta.
Jack, There is a program called PrintNow that will take a snapshot of a window or screen and print it.
If all ships not on autopilot are done making their moves, the ships on autopilot will then automatically make their moves. This happens before you hit the turn button. If you take a ship off autopilot before moving all ships not on autopilot, there should be the proper number of moves left (had to do that many times during wars :) )
