I have the same problem - Had Drengin.net for ages, have the show pre-relese checked, no beta on the list.
Fleshpile
Yes the latest version according to Stardock Central, as of last week anyway.
I don't know if this has been reported yet, but I got the Galactic Guidebook (42!), and the game shows it as being completed every turn in the GNN.
Got it! Thanks :)
Well, I thought it did... (:( As soon as the galaxy map loads up and the first text window appears, it CTDs when I hit OK. Hmm. I guess my question has just gotten a little more complex! Anyone know how to make this playable?
OH! That did it! (duh!) Thank you :)
I know the windowed mode is sort of a touchy subject, but I just have a question about making it work. I run my desktop at 1280x1024, 16-bit color. I bring up a command prompt, go to the directory and run the galciv.exe, but it still runs full-screen. (this is my work computer so I need to be able to alt-tab real sneaky-like hehe). Am I doing something incorrectly? Is there a work-around for this?
Would it be feasable to take all the events that people have made & make them into an "Official Upgrade", that we can download & install with Drengin.net? It could be easily updated with the mods that have been verified as error free, and would be very simple to integrate for the end-user. What do you think, Devs?
How on earth are you doing this? I have a problem with severe UNDERpopulation in every game I play. I've never once been above last place in population. Let's trade strategies or something! lol
So taxes don't -directly- affect population growth? I always have a few larger planets at 90-100 morale that are still fairly small. My experiment last night showed that my main planet grew a LOT in just a few turns. Frogboy? Can we get an official answer on this one?
I generally crank my taxes up to %50 on turn 1 and leave them there, but my population always really sucks. Last night I noticed that if I turn my taxes off completely, my population starts to boom. Since it seems the enemy planets grow to the size of a dime on the mini map pretty quick, I got to wondering how I should manage my tax rate to more efficiently populate my planets. Any advice?
Ditto. I love to beta good games. (I don't really like to beta bad games hehe)
I'm using 1.0.0.1 (just checked).
I have been playing 4X games since Moo1, and never once in my gaming history have I managed an alliance victory until today. Using the Economist faction, I managed to unite the entire galaxy in a universal alliance, without firing ONE SINGLE SHOT! No ships destroyed, and I destroyed no ships! Thank you Stardock for making this game :).
Lol I'm using a beta :). I have had trouble connecting to the update server lately though (I probably need to reinstall Drengin.net) so I'm probably not using the most up to date version. Oh well just being a good little beta tester and reporting bugs :). Glad it's fixed.
How can I tell?
The "Dmer" minor race just appeared in the game on planet Nesro, but their icon does not show on the planet. It looks like a normal unpopulated system except it has the Race Capital icon in the lower left.
Oops It's a bit down in the list. Scroll down a few pages.
This is a great post comparing the 2 games. Worth a read. http://www.ina-community.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=268523
The diplomatic AI in Moo3 is absolutely abysmal from what I've seen. I've played 3 short games so far, and during each one there's always an empire that EVERY TURN either declares war on you, or ends the war. Every turn. Constantly toggling back and forth from war to peace irritates me so much that I declare war on them. Despite the fact that I now WANT the war, the enemy is mystically able to end the war every other turn anyway. Also, enemies periodically send you a message saying "Yo
I'm not %100 sure if I was telling it to have everything build nothing, or if everything was building nothing and I asked it to start building something (damn that was confusing) but it didn't work. Sorry I can't be too specific on that one.
I DID IT! I got a research victory! Unfortunately, it crashes instantly when you hit NEXT on The Final Frontier research window. Watch me cry. Should I send a file to you? I have the saved game and it does it every time.
Sweet. I'll have to dl it when I get home and check it out... I must say, just in the time I've been a BT I've seen this game progress quite nicely. Well done :).
What are the criteria to determine the non-cultural victories exactly? Specifically, how do I get a research victory?
I know I've said it before, but this came up -again- last night and it still bothers me. When a U.P. vote comes up, I'd like 1 turn to look around the galaxy and summarize what's going on so I can make an informed vote. Ideally, the vote screen would come up, but the radio buttons at the bottom for voting would say "U.P. Council will meet next month to vote on this bill" or something. Then next month, give me what we have now.
