Goo = DRM
But Stardock has stated numerous time that the retail version of their products don't use GOO.
Peace Phoenix
Right now you can easily be stun locked (With no way out of it) till death.
Which version are you playing? The 0 day patch ( see http://forums.demigodthegame.com/345442 ) implements a stun immunity.
so, i've lost three days worth of ferrying stuff from uni, and will have to do it all again?
I guess I am missing something. Can't you download all files at one time?
The system doesn't handle patchs. It always gives you the latest available version.
Do you know that Brad has beehives ? see http://draginol.impulsedriven.net/category/448/Beekeeping
Have you tried to used the lookup serial number functionnality in Impulse with the e-amil used fro the purchase?
Can anyone tell me where i can download .exe version of a new patch? direct link pls.
The proper way is through Impulse, which will update onlyt the file that need to be updated. There is no standalone, downloadabele patch.
That is about the biggest insult you can give Frogboy, as anyone who has been on Stardock's forums for a while will tell you.
I am wondering who was targetted with the following line "you seem to be really qualified" given Frogboy's involvment with Impulse reactor
after him calling us idiots without any reason
And what if they have really based Impulse reactor on GPGnet?
Do I understand correctly from the screenshots that Frogboy is implying that Impulse reactor is based on GPGnet ? BTW, the following article was one year old http://draginol.impulsedriven.com/article/307238/Stardock_Gas_Powered_Games_Ironclad_Games_Gaming_Nirvana and seems to imply that Stardock, GPG and Ironclad are sharing experience for building
Then Frogboy, who I would have thought to be a qualified employee of Stardock
Well, unless I am mistaken, Frogboy isn't an employee of Stardock: he is the sole owner.
And every time on every pc/laptop i need to redownload the game. That is just crap.
But generally in that case, you have the latest version ....
But I really dislike having to have a 3rd party app just to play a game I payed for
Are you referring about Impulse or Steam?
So pirated version vorks better for me,
How the pirated version can works better since everything the pirate version can do, you can also do it with a legit version ?
Impulse stores passwords in plain text
Is it Impulse that stores password in plain text or is it Demigod?
I find it almost INSULTING that people with pirated copies of the game have an easier time playing via hamatchi etc. then us legit users who can only enjoy the AI flaws at this time.
I should be misunderstanding something here. Are you saying that legit version can't be used with hamachi? That is the only way I can understand your sentence.
Currently according to the main menu of demigod I am running 1.00.0093.
This is the internal build number
using version 1.00.048.
This the impulse version number. andtThey correspond to the same patch level (see here http://forums.demigodthegame.com/346928 )
Is this alright with the devs?
Well, if you look at Frogboy's post http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348096 , he specifically says:
But if you’re having problems with getting multiplayer going, I have to say, GameRanger works pretty well and it is doing basically the same thing we’re in the process of setting up.

As Demigod is tightly integrated into Impulse and its resources.
Unless I am mistaken, Demigod isn't tightly integrated into Impulse since it use the ImpulseReactor which doesn't requires to have Impulse launched (or even installed)
If you have Vista, this post http://forums.impulsedriven.com/347029 can perharps help you.
because GPG/Stardock wants to play monopoly due to the wasted money on the impulse launch platform
well, Impulse wasn't released specifically for Demigod. It was also supposed to be available for the retail launch of Sins of a Solar empire (feburary 2008). You may want read this post http://frogboy.impulsedriven.net/article/345381/Impulse_Road_Map to have a better view about Impuls
Pirates may have grabbed the game but i thought they couldnt play on official servers, get updates and or extra content. So does that mean stardock or GPG dropped the ball on serial/login checks and such or is it strictly for activation so you can execute the game?
It is simplier and scarier than that: the retail version (and the warez one) checks for update when game is launched, before any authentication has been done and even if you want to play single player. see he
I thought serial numbers were for getting updates. Guess I was wrong.
No, you were right. But for getting updates, the serial must be registred. And it can be registred with only one e-mail. You can copy, install the retail game as you want. There is no obligation to register the game when installing it from a retail DVD. BTW, registering the serial id not only give you the ability to get updates. But alos to download the whole game for your lifetime. You c
Instead of this GOO, just dont do anything with copy protection or DRM.
Stardock is developping GOO for others publishers, not for its products. How are others publishers supposed to react if their only choices are between no DRM and nasty DRM? BTW, stating that Stardock published games are DRM free is false since a serial id needs to be linked with an unique e-mail. They just have no copy protection on retail games.
Again, what hurted StarDock here is not GOO itself , and no, it's not in Demigod , but TALK about it , the fact that StarDock turned towards DRM, ok , less invaisive DRM , much more convinient DRM but still DRM.
I don't remember reading that Stardock will use GOO. Just that it is offering GOO as an alternative to SECUROM.
