Yea, the problem is beta 3A people trying to join beta 3B games. There's an incompatibility we didn't see. WE're about to put up a minor update to address this.
Frogboy
Awesome stuff.
CptCanuck - did you check Impulse to make sure you have the latest version of Demigod?
Just means you need to update the Demigod beta. Demigod beta 3 and prior didn't know how to check for updates and so the logon just doesn't work. This is fixed in beta 3A.
If anyone wants to know what I'm like during a beta when I'm just a beta tester here's some of my posts during the Supreme Commander beta (as Draginol). http://www.forumplanet.com/SupremeCommander/topic.asp?fid=22613&tid=1967042 http://www.forumplanet.com/SupremeCommander/topic.asp?fid=22613&tid=1969144 http://www.forumplanet.com/SupremeCommander/topic.asp?fid=22613&tid=1969816 Now in those posts I'm not super specific since it was st
We are listening and you can look at the game like this: There will be v1.0. This is the game that will be in the box but will never get played on-line because we will have the Bonus Pack on day 0. V1.0 is designed for single player which has been a lot of our focus that beta testers haven't seen. We like multiplayer but v1.0 is focused on people who don't have Internet connections and just plan to play the game single player. Bonus Pack will be v1.01. This i
I'd like to see stun have diminishing returns (specifically: you can't be stunned again for N seconds after your last stun) or better yet, have a "Scroll of rebound" ala Magic the Gathering where when activated, for 3 seconds any power that hits you rebounds on enemies around you up to N meters away. So if they try to stun you, they instead stun those around. That way, people have to think about using stun.
What would be extremely helpful would be posts that are specific. I.e. Item X does Y that causes Z. We're reading the forums but a lot of the posts are very vague.
Good stuff.
Good stuff. Thanks for posting it!
Yea. Right now we're mostly looking for statistics that aren't getting sent over to the database.
Thanks for clearing this up. @Frogboy: Will the next balance patch be using this new method or will it stick to the old one?
It just depends on timing really. We were rushed with this patch (was supposed to go out on Thursday).
Thanks! We're still tweaking and changing too so it'll keep getting better!
You'd have to use the LAN functionality.
It's RTP patcher based. So it'll look at what you have installed and download the patches and apply them. But for beta 3A, we just did a full file update.
Yea, with the LAN version there's no specific checking. Here's what you would want to do for a LAN game: You'll download Demigod from Impulse when it ships. You'll have a directory like \program files\stardock games\demigod. You would copy that onto a USB stick or whatever and then put it on the other machines on your LAN. When they load up the game, they'll need to enter in the email address associated with your Impulse account and the CD key. Since it's on th
Argh. It's looking like it needs the November DirectX. Beta 3A is the build taht switched to that and I'm not sure if we're including that.
We have it in now but we were behidn schedule on getting beta 3A up so we just had to bite the bullet and put it up the old fashioned way.
In the meantime, I would go with the lame old standby of "Try uninstalling it from Impulse and reinstalling it". My lay person guess is that the beta CD isn't matched up with what we have on our end. But that's just a guess.
We're looking into it. Frankly, I'm stumped right now. I'll get some of our team to look at it.
Please post here all the things you think that would make the AI more effective. Thanks!
I think most people know I prefer single player to multiplayer. I like Demigod's single player game. But I also like Sins of a Solar Empire's single player. They're about on par IMO. Demigod has the single player tournament which is cool. Sins has random maps.
I will say that one of the benefits of Impulse Reactor is that you'll be able to eventually set up all kinds of conditions on match-making.
Tomorrow. Sorry about that. In case you're wondering what causes this pain (i.e. 1 day delays) picture this: It takes about an hour to do a full build of Demigod. Then it takes another hour to upload it to the FTP and another hour to download it. Then, if a bug is found that got past GPG, the process restarts. That's basically what happened tonight. So the good news is, we're getting the beta downloaded so it'll b
I hope you guys do realize we're blowing away all the rankings when the game launches right? The bots are in there in order to help us beta test the tournament mechanisms. In the final version, each side will require a human player.
