Updated based on feedback. More to come. This is why we do these publicly, get good feedback.

I think games should last between 15 minutes to an hour depending on how evenly matched the teams are.
Need way more info.
11. Yea, late game they don't scale up. So minions need something that lets them get tougher. Perhaps have them level up with the Demigod. 13. I like that. So rather than having the neutral portals just spawn the weak creeps, they spawn siege creeps. 14. I think that if you don't control the map, the game should be over. 15. Withdrawn. 16. Level 25 Demigods should be rare. A game shouldn't last more than 30 minutes typically unless both sides are very evenly ma
For those of you who are new to Stardock beta programs, we will often post in our own forums the bugs and suggestions we have on the games to let other users discuss them. This was done with GalCiv and Sins of a Solar Empire with very good effect. Below are some of the bugs / suggestions I (personally) ran into with ideas I think would help the game without making radical changes. I'm speaking only for myself, not Stardock here so feel free to debate/discuss as you see fit
Hmmm we were promised a Beta that was a bit more balanced...I understand Beta 1 being like this but Beta 2 shud be more balanced Anyway thanks for updates..have to wait to january to try it
We lie a lot. Our therapist is working on that.
I personally find it painful right now because the games take too long to finish. There's no easy way to dominate another player who doesn't know what they're doing. That's mainly a matter of tweaking the values of how powerful the flags are, how expensive various upgrades are, etc. The final game experience is likely to be very different from this beta in terms of pacing, strategy, etc.
Do you have Demigod associated with your Impulse account?
Hey, better buggy than nothing. I guess its a good stress test both from users and weather
Oh I dunno. It's pretty buggy. We're working hard no it. The holidays are kind of a hard stop so we had to get this out. There's so many pieces coming together so quickly. I wish we had a few more days.
Thanks Frogboy So I haven't tried it yet, can you join general chat lobby from inside a game lobby? If so, a quick workaround for invalid games-available list is just to say on general: "Ke5trel 1 v 1 is open" when you create a game and before the game starts just pop into general chat to say that it is closed.
Unfortunately, there's no chat lobby in this build.

As promised, BETA 2 is going out today. Users who have pre-ordered it will soon have access to it as well. That said, I want to make sure you guys are aware of some issues. Real life (TM) has inserted itself into our beta process as Seattle (where GPG is located) is experiencing a bit of a snow storm which is reducing their manpower and there's a blizzard on the way to Michigan as well. As a result, this beta is a lot rougher than we had intended it to be so let me walk
Will Beta 2 allow those who pre-ordered after the date of Beta 1 to play (such as in October etc.)? If so, I'm looking forward to a long night of gaming
Yep.
We expect it out today but it won't be until later in the day. We're wrestling with the network code right now. Worked late into the night on it and we're on it right now too.
None of our forums ever end up being particularly nasty. I think part of that is because people know the developers participate in them. Another reason is that we ban people who are disruptive when we come across it. :)
Society is still in development. It's the back-end that's taking a long time.
It's LOOKING like Demigod Beta 2 will come out next THURSDAY. So what's the delay? The new Internet multiplayer system: Portless multiplayer. It's a pretty huge thing that has had to be developed and tested internally as you can imagine. So there is no router port you have to open per se, it just takes care of everything. Sort of like Hamachi but no need for a VPN driver thing.
Updated again.
I think losing a whole point each for not supporting Vista folders and live folders may be a bit harsh. I might change my mind if I had Vista, but that's a 20% deduction that would negate great artwork and originality, and reward something less valuable. This has been a great contest; thank you very much for that.
If something is truly awesome in every other way, it'll probably still make it into the finals and then the users can
Yea it's so close as-is to beta 2.
I think this is a good idea. One of the nice things about the Tournament mode of the game is that the game code is all server based so we can keep updating it without having to update the actual game EXE. I agree with you and we will do what we can to have the multiplayer matchmaking evolve with as many criteria as possible.
A lot of the focus and internal debate has been on how to further increase strategic depth of the game but without making the game too complex. Demigod's real strength, IMO, is that normal people can sit down and understand it very quickly. I think a lot of you know what I mean by that -- you get some friends together to play X and you spend the first hour trying to show them how the game is played. We want Demigod to be a game that people can figure out without a tutorial
Well one of the key things we want to do is have these items be ACTIVE and not passive. That is, you should have to do something for the power, whatever it might be, to do something rather than simply being equipped.
Let's definitely bear in mind that these arenas ARE artificial. That is, the gods have placed these arenas specifically so that the Demigods can vie for the favor of the gods to ascend. It's not like Supreme Commander or even Warcraft where there's this chunk of territory you're trying to conquer.
