I stopped getting updates after I heard that they nerfed population/unrest in that one version. I`ve never had a problem with this and I still think that the people should have simply tried other strategies.

Build Defenders & Battleaxes. Scouts have no combat value. Also - try an easier difficulty.
You have to have 'close' relations with the empire you seek alliance with. Give them gifts.
Well, I`ve been neutral and turned on twice by the Arceans.. once I was good and the Torians came after me.. so no, alignment doesn`t really help.
I`ve noticed this too. This behaviour is ok for evil races, but I think that good races should be more friendly and forgiving in relation to other good races.
Has there been an offical word yet? Will this issue be resolved?
"#15 by Citizen Augusten - 4/2/2003 4:03:28 PM ...I'll try asking one more time. Does the AI ally against you at higher difficulties? In other words, have you seen two races who are weaker then you ally up and attack you? " Hey, I want to know the answer to this as well! Spit it out people, stop talking about other stuff.
travathian - If you`re a beginner it is a mistake to attack a minor with their uber economies.. YOU will be the one that is maimed, not them. I found that out the hard way in my first few games.. the Alexians fielded an armada bigger than any other empire in the game. Thank god they didn`t use transports.
ancientage - 'It gets kind of crowded on a small map with 3 minor races. ' Also, I`d like this too for various reasons (Independants, Dragonin.. argh!)
..The reasoning for this being. To slow down the pace of the game, lessen the morale/pop growth issue, make population growth modifiers more valueble and less of a burden, and to make invasions more costly. What say you?
I think maybe.. halve it.. this would solve many problems.
I mean, I second getting some regular patches that we can download on the site.
There should be a new option to surrender to other empires, much like they surrender to you. Sometimes I`m losing and don`t want to fight it out to the bitter end but I do want to see what my score was and whatnot.. Right now this is practically accomplished by handing over all your assets in the trade screen, but I`d just like a quicker 'surrender' option. :)
I second that.
I don`t see it. I`m using the Atlanta server too.
They need to add a new load of very *generic* events with little consequence other than altering the morality of your culture.. like passing laws in your own senate or something. For example: Protestors take to the streets demanding more political freedom! What do you do oh leader of the republic? 1. Grant my people the freedom they want. (Good, +3 moral) 2. Pacify them but take no real action. (Neutral, +1 morale) 3. Protestors?! What?! Send in the
I agree that events should happen only once per game... and that a whole heap of new ones should be added! More of everything! :CONGRAT:
I just discovered this as well.. really it is the best way to conduct business. Mwah.
Must be the Arcean 'strategy' to backstab friends & whatnot.
Actually I think it is just the Arceans. I had the same problem in a new game. The Torians are fine, but the Arceans? Noooo.. next time I see them in a game I`ll just obliterate them before they even have a chance to annoy me.

When you start playing at higher difficulty levels they aren`t as much of a challenge anymore. They just need an option to tone them down for beginners.
Its in the domestic report, under society.
How about simply some good things coming from being good at random event decisions? Choosing good almost always hurts you.
In fact, I always go for the green (economy boosting)resources first. The other ones I don`t really care about. Sometimes it is nice to get the morale resource or research one, but if your economy is strong you can buy tech.
